ACS Rotor Install Guide + Hutch Western H Stem Swap | Finalizing My Hutch Trick Star BMX Bike
After nearly three years of waiting, the final piece for my Hutch Trick Star reissue build is here! Join me as I install the Hutch Western H Freestyle stem and dive into a step-by-step ACS rotor setup guide.
Welcome back to the Nostalgic Neighborhood! For those new here, the Hutch Trick Star was my dream bike as a kid, but it was always out of reach. When Hutch announced pre-orders for reissue frame and fork sets in September 2021, I jumped in. The frame and handlebars arrived over a year ago, but I’ve been waiting on the Western H Freestyle stem ever since. After countless delays, I built the bike with a faux GT mallet stem this past spring. Now, with the correct stem, I’m excited to complete the build as I originally envisioned.
I’ve always wanted an ACS rotor, but by the time I had a bike worthy of one, the Odyssey Gyro had become the standard. While the Gyro offers superior braking performance, the ACS rotor holds more nostalgia for me. This build is all about reliving that nostalgia. After my build video, viewers asked for a detailed rotor setup guide, so I’m including that in this video while swapping out the stems.

My first bike was a Grants store bike, metallic green with high bars and a banana seat. My friends and I used to buddy up to the local bike shop owner and he would let us go through his junk and take anything we wanted. So, ten speed seats and low handlebars ended up on our bikes. We broke frames and our Dads would take them to their buddies and get them welded for us. This was 1973ish. We always said we invented BMX, lol. In Ohio anyway. Great memories, love your channel!

Luckily i remember every single thing he wanted down to the grips and chain. I word tour disappeared strangely… family 🤦‍♂️.

Super stoked you gave a little shine to Future Sk8. I visited STL 2 years ago and stopped by to pick up a board and skate the park. At the time the park was only a couple kickers and a flatbar. Don was kind of iffy about keeping the park and location due to costs and I'm really glad to see he doubled down and added more obstacles instead! He was super cool to talk to, shared some stories with me, and I got the vibe that the shop was one of those spots where kids can just hang out. Go support if you're in the area!!

Jeff Khendall and Lester Kasai were my original boards. BUT my absolute favorite decks were Walker Nightmares. I had one of each of the different models but the original was my favorite. It met an untimely death as I was showing off for my girlfriends friends at her school, I biffed the landing and my deck went under the school bus that was leaving. That bus crunched my board nose to tail.... What a bad day!!!! I have wanted a replacement for that deck every since then
