      Awesome! The 24” is such a great size. How are you liking the Dyno? I had a 1987 (or 86?) Dyno D-Tour back in the day. I've been mountain biking for 4+ years now. I was 41 when I started. It's been a fun journey! I've taken my full sus trail mountain bike on pump tracks and skate parks but it just doesn't feel quite right. Too big, clearly. I've been thinking about getting a 26" dirt jumper but after watching a few of your videos, I think this bike would be better. I don't do tricks but I love jumps. I'm 6'-4" so a 20" BMX bike feels way too twitchy. I appreciate what you're doing on your channel. 🤘

    52 year old here, looking to get back into BMX riding. I have a 24" Schwinn Pro Stock 3 BMX I need to restore/rebuild. That pump track looks like so much fun! Definitely gotta find a track and give it a try when I get the bike done. Looks like the bike equivalent of pumping around the kiddie pool at the skatepark, but a lot larger.

    Man, it sure looked like you were having a blast. It's amazing how winded you got without hardly peddling, just from using your arms and legs as shock absorbers. They don't have any tracks like that, or (in my wildest dreams) skate parks around where I live. I'm 58 and if they had a skate park around here, they'd probably find be in the bottom of the bowl with a broken spine.

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the pump track is fun, but it sure does use different muscles. The shock absorbing part, is when you go up a hill, and then you’re pushing down with your arms and legs as you’re pumping down the other side. Sort of like how you gain momentum on a swing. I think it’s the pumping down more than the absorbing up that really winds you. Super fun though. Hope you get a chance to try it someday. 👍

Could I get your opinion on it first before I buy? My other option Ive been thinking about doing is just doing a full build starting with the frame and building over time.

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you’re on a budget, that bike seems like one heck of a value for the price!!! You could spend $400-$500 to get a budget 24” Race Inc. or Haro. But they won’t be much better than this (if at all). This Redline has single wall rims, but the rest of the materials all seem good on the bike. Maybe some cheaper and no name parts, but they seem really good for the price. You’d probably need to spend twice that to get another bike that’s significantly better. But I guess that reflects the 50% discount on their site. I’d say go for it 👊

      Thanks so much! Wow, I'm stoked that you got the 26" Haro to reconnect with the sport you had as a kid! Yeah, the 24" size are a little harder to find. Not exactly a comparison video between those sizes, but I did create a video about how the style of riding impacts the choice of what style of bike to get, wether it's meant for cruising or getting a little more aggressive. I feel like this Monza 24" is a good balance between the two.

      It’s comparable in looks and spirit, but the Pro Raider had 20” wheels and this has 24” Wheels. This one has modern components, but is built to give off 80s BMX vibes like the Pro Raider. So while not directly comparable, if you’re looking for an old school vibe on a chromoly 24” frame but with modern technology… this a great choice.

      If you’re just mostly going to be casually riding on a smooth trail for longer distances, I’d go with the 26” or 29”. I love my 24”, but find myself riding my 26” a lot more on casual rides.

      Hi! I'm 5'11" and it feels great t me. Sizing is a little subjective depending on your riding style, but likely it would be a great size for you too. This has a slightly longer top tube of 22.5", which makes the bike feel a little roomier. But yeah, it probably depends on whether you are looking to just cruise around or be more nimble/aggressive. There are tall guys who totally rip on 22" bikes, but they probably don't use those for casual rides around the neighborhood. 24" is a great compromise between a smaller bike and a larger cruiser for my personal style.

    Line tip for a lil’ hip transfer: at 03:56, launch off that hip (corner-exit) into the outside (right) line, first at the stripe, then bringing it back toward the white arrow - land on the downhill - it should be good for a “goofy” rider too! Low in the center of that corner lines you up for a bigger boost. 😃 Keep at it! 👍

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, thanks for the tip. I see what you’re saying here. I probably need a little more speed to clear that area and land on the downside, but that’ll definitely give me something to play around with and work on. Much less intimidating than some of those bigger jump areas too. Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it 👍

    • @BlurnGanston
      @BlurnGanston ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheNostalgicNeighborhoodthe beauty of the hip is, at the bottom it’s a 0 - 1’ gap, halfway up it’s 1’ to 2’ gap, and from there jumping from inside the corner gets you gradually to approx. the distance of a roller-gap. Built-in progression! 😃👍

    I ordered a 26 Monza. Not impressed at all.. The pedals are made from weak steal. I can bend them with my hand. The crank makes noise. The chain makes noise when you put power through the crank. It came damaged in the box. The box itself was perfect. The damage gouged into the chrome. There is much better choices out there. Think I'm going to return it.

    • @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
      @TheNostalgicNeighborhood  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m really sorry to hear that. With respect to the damage in the box, I don’t think that’s common, I’m sure if you reach out to Monza, they’ll make it right for you. I haven’t had any issues with my pedals being weak. From what I hear in the Monza user group, the creaking on the cranks isn’t too uncommon, just needs a little grease on the spindle when you’re getting everything set up. I’ve got no issues with mine. But it sounds like you’d be happier with something else at this point. If you don’t mind, let us know what you go with. I recently built up a 26” Hutch Hollywood. A bit more expensive than a Monza, but I’m loving its geometry compared to my 26” GT Performer.
