I always found it funny schools "don't" have money for music, but the godd@mned sports teams get *everything* they want at the snap of a finger. 😒 Get rid of sports aside from gym class-- problem solved.
You do hear a difference, but the room acoustics might not be optimal for recording the tuba cleanly 😅

The cheap tuba sounds strained, and as you go to the more expensive ones, they sound bigger and fuller.

I have goosebumps. I played for four years on High-School tubas (and Sousaphones) and what I would have given for an instrument that hadn't had eggs in the bell during parades for 40 years, fireworks smuggled in from Canada, and bus tire marks on the bell. Orchestra, stage band, pep band, marching band, German Club "Hungry Five" band. Good times.
Silver 1 has much richer tone
I cant hear the difference because the piano is playing
Kweku Mensah maybe your ears aren’t good enough
I can hear some different but yes it would be better if the piano wasn’t playing the expensive one sounds more beefy like a grizzly

Tuba is one of those instruments that is amazingly everywhere despite being so big. It’s just that versatile and loved by so many people. Hell there’s a tuba foundation. It’s so amazing to see the instrument I’ve played for years be used in so many ways as well as pursuing those ways myself
Tubas are like guitars in that a good player can make a relatively cheap one sound decent but a bad player isn't going to make a really expensive one sound very good. It's all about technique.
As a tuba player I can agree it is a brotherhood like when I met a fellow tuba player we both get excited and immediately hug each other

Headphones really help, but even then..
Good headphones help a lot. There's a huge difference in sound. The lower register is much cleaner, not muddied at all, and the higher register has a more rounded full tone and general sound. The overall tone is, open, cleaner, and fuller the more expensive the tuba gets. That first and cheapest tuba is very blaty in general and has trouble in the high register sounding choked. This guy is a very good player and it sounded like he was having trouble getting a good sound out of that thing.
Look, low brass is normally pretty quiet in general, and when you have an instrument like the piano whose volume is hard to control, you kinda just gotta make do.
Idk yours ears just suck

I once bought a 75 year old sousaphone for $125 and it the richest, purest, most beautiful sound of any tuba I've ever played or heard. It was a Martin, and it had a huge bore. You could put unlimited air through it and it never got that unpleasant edge, it just got louder. Someone broke into my van one night and stole it, and probably fenced it for the price of scrap brass. I was heartbroken and have never recovered from the loss...

You have to love this for the sheer comedy. The pianist continually looks over his shoulder at the camera (like Fats Waller but without the enormous grin and poppy eyes) until the last piece when the piano is revealed as a player-piano, and he turns round and stares stoney-faced at the camera while the piano does its own thing. Hilarious set-up. Oh yes, and there was some bloke playing a load of tubas too. The cheap one sounded cheap but the rest didn't have a clear correlation between price and sound, possibly.
I like how the guy playing the piano just keeps looking at the camera in the middle of the songs

My high school was blessed to get a full set of Cerveny Rotary Valve Tubas during my sophomore year. LOVED them over our top action piston valved whatever-whatever’s brand. Haven’t played one in nearly 15 years!!! This video makes me miss it!!
A diferença e absurda na minha opinião! Qualidade é muito superior. Belo vídeo!
It’s almost like any hobby, decent cost about 1,000 dollars and a high end one costs up 30,000 dollars. In actuality the most important part is the person using the instrument. You could buy a high end road bicycle for 30,000 but if you don’t train you will be slower than trained person on a Huffy bike. Likewise, if you don’t practice even the nicest tuba will sound bad if you don’t know how to use it.
The Jupiter Tuba (at 0:55) sounded the best to me, better even than the more expensive tubas.

So I'm a 3 year all-state tuba player and coming from someone that has played on a $500 piece of garbage to a $20,000 Miraphone I can vouch for there being an ENORMOUSLY large difference in the sound being produced depending on the quality and materials of the tuba. I just think it's more of an in person kind of thing for the people saying they cant hear the difference in the video.
Es un crack, mantener todo el rato el rostro serio impune de cualquier movimiento o gesticulación, y la concentración de tocar el piano y sobre todo de acordarse de las melodías es de ser un gran coco.

The second time through with the cheaper one, after hearing some of the more expensive tubas, helped me to refresh myself on the sound, to help really compare.
The second time I could hear the finger (what do you call them? The keys? The bits played by the fingers...) pieces? hit the ends, as they were pressed all the way down and came back up to full resting stop. There seemed to be a slight click as they came into a full stop.

Yes I can hear the difference, the cheaper tubas has a rather "rattling" tone and their overall presence in sound is weaker and less rounded. While the more expensive tubas dont have that weird rattling sound and the quality and presence of the sound is more present, On the cheaper tuba the change in note was not that dramatic to hear but the expensive tubas made it interesting to listen to, the most expensive tuba had a more bass presence you could feel it vibrate the others didnt have that effect as much. Im betting this has alot to do with the airflow inside the tuba and so on.
More expensive tubas are usually bigger and a larger bore and tubing gives more resonance

Music I studied independently, but the greatest satisfaction I received when I sang bass in orchestra, about two years. Who has not played the tuba can not give an accurate assessment. Thanks.
I was actually.impressed by how much better the Dolphin sounded compared several of slightly more expensive horns. But the struggle to lock in to the notes in the top half of the bass clef limit to really only beginner use. With even just a year or two at a student level, it would be a.significant annoyance. But the tone quality is surprisingly good where does properly intonate.

Personally, and obviously, Jupiter has the nicest sound overall and I am not surprised, it is a Jupiter after all. The Dolphin wasn't terrible, especially if you don't need the best in the world, but I have started to wonder how much Mississippi State and my former high school have spent on tubas that were this good over the years.

During my brother’s freshman year of a music education major, he had to drive a state away to pick up his brand new $15,000 tuba. I have played Tuba a little bit but I got a Contrabass Trombone a few months ago and I like playing A LOT more and I also think it’s a much cooler and more novel instrument. Contrabass Trombone is used in Movies, Videogames, Operas, Orchestral Pieces, and as the lowest voice of a Trombone Choir. It definitely has a lot more bite to it than Tuba and it’s very menacing which is why I love it. It’s my favorite of the five Trombones that I play lol.
