As a trombonist, that high high Bb is absolutely ridiculous. It took me years to get the range to be able to play that on TROMBONE. This man has talent.
Not only can he hit it, but his tone his still super crisp and centered up in the stratosphere. Meanwhile anytime I try to play Bydlo on my Eb I sound like (to quote the great Roger bobo) a "bluejay farting in a silo"
As a tubist myself, those high notes are actually insane. I don’t think that even if I played tuba for the rest of my life I could hit those as consistently and cleanly as he does.
That gotta be the worst explanation I've seen in a while... the children's song the title is referencing is called 'Es Tanzt Ein Bi-Ba-Butzemann' and it basically goes "there's a bee-bah-bogeyman ("Butzemann") dancing around in our house". The "Bi-Ba-" was replaced by "Tuba-" for a play on words.
I've never heard a tuba played in that register and now knowing what that sound is, and how insanely difficult it apparently is, I'm actually a little sad, because that is one of the prettiest timbres I think I have ever heard

as a tubist myself I can tell you it's insane playing that high - the low ones I'd be able to do with a bit of effort but if I even attempted to hit one of the probably 10 highest notes he did here my lips would probably just burst. I'd also recommend checking out jon sass, he's a bit more unorthodox occasionally. it's not necessarily this register but there's some borderline alien stuff in what he does
This is one of a few pieces I've tried and play by ear from their works (On Euphonium! since he's playing an F or Eb and I'm a BBb tuba guy.) And Wowza. It's actually pretty fun given the range. And Yes... Mnozil Brass is all about the balance between 85%, dirty socks, Toes on Trombone Slides, Spit. Anguished Sobbing, Animal Noises, and Absolute Awesomeness.

I think this is your best work ever. "Anguished sobbing" absolutely sent me 😂 and how he managed to hit that high "LAA" so effortlessly is seriously impressive
Then he goes on to do a bunch of insane variations... When I saw them live (yes I am blessed) the other players were chucking coins into the bell, and at the end he tipped over the tuba to dump them all out with his bow. These guys are the most talented and entertaining performers I have ever seen in my life. And they are LOUD. I was like 15 rows back and my ears hurt after.
That is some insane talent, some of those notes feel barely possible on tuba, and he plays with a full sound Edit: when you comment soon after the release of a video you are much more likely to get 763 likes lol

As someone who has had experience playing both tuba and euphonium I can say this man is talented. Those high notes are near impossible on a tuba. I had trouble playing a lot of those notes on a euphonium, I can't even imagine going that high on a tuba. All I have to say is good job.
That Db(?) way above the staff at 1:09 is absolutely nuts, I play trombone and I’ve only been able to hit the C right below that once. The fact he was able to do it on a tuba is absolutely amazing
I just watched that and had to pick my jaw off the floor. I couldn't even enjoy the antics behind him because I was too busy being amazed by his playing
Highly recommend watching the full video, as well as the rest of this group's stuff. Not only are they absolutely phenomenal musicians, they are also wonderfully hilarious.
As a tuba player myself, first of all bravo! This is an incredible performance! I’m in awe of how well he was able to hit the low B flat (the lowest note that he played). As well as the high notes, which I personally find easier, but are no less impressive.
As a former Tuba player here, some of those notes were just sheerly astronomical!! I've played one song with notes up there and i got through it barely but this man makes it look effortless!! Truly phenomenal!

As a follow tuba player (and one of the best in my region, just to brag a little) this is absolutely wonderful. The best instrument ever finally gets the solo it deserves. I will say the notes this guy was pulling off are absolutely incredible. I can barely play above the staff and yet this guy is playing notes higher than I thought was even possible. And then he played really low notes in don’t think I’ve seen before. Us tubist should cherish this moment for ever. I’m so glad that this solo is real.
I played tuba for ages. This guy can play so much higher than I imagined sounding good on that instrument. He's astonishing! And the tuning of all those octave leaps is incredible!
It’s amazing to hear someone play the Tuba as a virtuoso. They seems to have outlier personalities. I was working on an IT team and one of the managers played tuba in a local philharmonic. He came and played for us. He was shaped like mole man from the Simpsons and kind of looked like him.
Fantastic piece from start to end. Also nice one from the 'la' at the top and to the darkest note on the bottom. Many octaves between. Found out it's 15 notes between. I reach 1 tone below the 'la' and a half to 1 tone higher than the next low tuba note. Fun to sing together with this
