The BEST SUNRISE EVER in Southern Safari Circuit - Chyulu Hills & Lake Chala

Just what does the Southern part of Kenya hold in terms of travel gems?
Chyulu Hills National Park is arguably the most beautiful, serene, green, quiet park we have ever been to! Hands down! If you don’t agree, come we fight! 🤣 You will not be prepared for Chyulu Hills! The verdant green & dense bushes & trees in the Park plus very tall grass with golden seedheads were quite a sight! The silence broken by sounds of cicadas... whoa!!
It’s very probable that you will be all alone in the Park!

How far is it from the main gate to the camping site at Chyullu hills? Can one hike? I want to use the sgr. I have read from Kibwezi to Kithasyo Gate it is just 9kms. Can use a boda boda then hike the other parts?

It is like 50 to 53kms if you use the road from the Chyulu Park Hq. The road meanders, looking for the the least steep way to the top. But if you are hiking, you will using a more or less straight route to the top. It will be shorter but steeper route. You can hike but with a KWS ranger since there are elephants, buffaloes and other dangerous wildlife. Its better to go with a bigger group for the hike. A boda will only get you from the tarmac to the Park's gate. No motorcycles are allowed inside the park because of fierce wildlife.
