A French peasant's knife; Claude Dozorme Capucin in Olive wood. 🇨🇵

- Salutations Ladies and Gentlemen! Today, I'll be discussing a very peculiar knife from a brand rather new to me; Claude Dozorme. Claude Dozorme is a French cutlery company based in Thiers and founded in 1902. The brand has a fairly wide selection of knives, including a variety of pocket knives.
The Capucin is an extremely interesting model. Dating back to Medieval times, the Capucin is a design native to the Ariège Pyrenees. The handle is supposedly shaped after a Monk's hood. Being a very simple knife, the Capucin found favour among shepherds and peasants.
X50CrMoV15 stainless steel (leaf) spear-point blade. Olive wood handles. Steel pins and pivot. Tightening key included. Made in Thiers France.
Overall, the Capucin is quite the intriguing knife, and the execution by Claude Dozorme is rather impressive, as well.

Nice to see revue of a different French knife I was surprised to see how many types of pocket knife France makes when I looked on Ecosia, my search engine of choice. Here is hoping you get some more from different makers. 😁
I usually avoid buying too many French knives, as they can become concerningly addictive! But perhaps more will come, eventually.
I let myself get this one, mainly for the price point.

What a nice knife. I don't think they know how far this knife pattern goes back, but they suspect at least medieval. I need to have a shuftie at that mechanism they're using for holding the knife open. Looks intriguing.

The mechanism is rather strange, and I still can't decide if it's a slippie or a friction-folder! Guess we're both stumped.

nice knife , I would call that pivot a "pig nose nut" nice wood handles , great shape ,good worker/picnic knife , if the price is right , they have an interesting range , ta la , p

very nice but i prefer the original and vintage capucin, a carbon blade laurus shape, handle in horn, and just one nail for fixing all parts, the monk shape of the handle is more visible, the knife looks like very rural and coming from old times.

An interesting knife- review could be better- too many vague assertions, guesses, improper descriptions.
