    So since it now has Bluetooth I would really like to see connectivity to an iPad app instead of a laptop so then I can easily take the iPad to the range and input velocities as I’m shooting.

    I love my AMP Press. CSV data dump is huge. I cant wait to compare neck tension, velocities, pressure trace II data and the ring score (easier than group size) - then I can run it through some AI/NL engines I have to do some non-linear regressions to look for relationships. Fun stuff to geek out on. On autorun it's also super fast seating.

    Someday could u show us a test on quality brass that’s been amp annealed but off by one firing ? Say u got one round of brass that’s been twice fired mixed up with a couple more pieces that’s been 3 times fired ? I’m curious if it matters down range

    Adding the velocities and groups to help find what matters, if we can group ammo based on the chart, could be huge. You might want people to be able to send you that data, you might learn some interesting things from that kind of large scale testing.

    All the technological advancements that have been made in the shooting sports is amazing. Crazy thing is, the most important part of the whole equation hasn’t changed much in the last 100 years….. we still use brass! I keep thinking someone is going to come up with an alloy that changes everything.

    Are you going to do a build using the new MDT Zero Stage Electronic Trigger, when they become available? would be awesome to see some live firing and data about consistency, quality and overall usefulness of it.
    Cheers

    Great video, for racing, aerospace, fire detection and medical liver tests, they have used an analysis tool called Mahalanobis-Taguchi System. MTS, what that does is you take the measurements and then decide what is a healthy population and an unhealthy population and it converts the data into a multi dimensional cloud with a distance to the centroid of the healthy cloud. So when you make a new unknown round it will calculate the distance to the centroid and tell you if the round is good or bad before you shoot it. The is also a second calculation that can tell you what subset of variables are important and which ones are clouding the issue and could be removed

    Still have not seen a demonstration of a correlation between loading anomalies and unloading anomalies.

    I've just started scratching the itch... I've slowly acquired a die set, projectiles, large pistol primers, some CFE Pistol all to make shooting my G20 more economical. Now I'm saving for the right single-stage press - even slower now, however, the wife's pregnant again. Experienced handloaders, any suggestions for a good press with which to start my journey? I will likely add .223 to my inventory once I've got more experience.

      Welcome to the obsession. You're going to get a wide range of opinions based on personal experience, budget, and biases. This discussion can turn into a Ford vs Chevy type argument in a hurry because everyone has their preferences.
      If you're shooting a high volume of pistol ammo weekly or monthly, you may want to consider getting a progressive press. I'm partial to the Hornady LNL and the Dillon options, but these days there's a number of progressive press options that fit various budgets. All will make quality ammo with the right care and attention.
      For a reloading press for center fire rifle ammo, there's also quite a few options. If you're loading for precision, a single stage press and good dies will serve you well. I'm partial to the Forrester Co-ax press and dies, and Redding brand equipment also works well for me, but there are many good quality options that again fit a range of budgets. If you're loading for 223 at larger volumes, the progressive presses that I mentioned earlier can also be fitted for that caliber.
      One thing that I've learned over the years is that I wasn't really handloading to save money (I didn't), but rather I was handloading for the adventure of working up my own loads, the testing and experimenting, and the joy of it. I would have saved money by buying factory ammo if all I wanted to do was shoot a few rounds or go hunting once a year.
      Check out Gavintoob`s reloading press shootout videos. He reviews a large number of both progressive and single stage presses. It will get you started on the road to researching options online.

    At least he admitted he does not know, the crazy thing is that he does not know. For all that money he should know what matters, essentially everyone is a beta tester.

    • @John.VanSwearingen
      @John.VanSwearingen ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Beta testing is open-source bug hunting. This isn’t bug hunting. The AMP Press gathers raw data and turns it into a presentable form. People are already using that data with their own results in order to make a best guess as to what’s important in their rifle with their cartridge. AMP is just updating the software so people can more easily make those analyses. It’s probably not a uniform correlation across all calibers, bullets, or pressures.

      @rascalflashback8531 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry , when a scientific says he doesn't know , it usually does not mean he doesn't have a clue . It means he can't scientifically proove a point , prooving meaning there is not yet sufficient correlation between experience data to validate an hypothesis . Bear in mind that to use this machine and correlate shooting data you need to keep a case individual record of its AMP trace and the shooting data ( at least muzzle velocity and group placement for example , but it could be crossed with Pressure trace curves ) . Definitely not a toy for the basic fun plinker .

    • @thompsonjerry3412
      @thompsonjerry3412 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are missing the point, does not matter how the bullet goes in, just how it goes out.
