Yeah, the master strike honestly ruins combat in KC:D. Late game it¨s just both you and all enemies spamming it, you can rarely pull off combos like this.
They can only perfect block all the time if their defense stats somehow outmatch your attack stats. Blocking a sabre with just a poor-defense one handed weapon takes pretty hight stats. This guy didn't have that.
Try to have slow and fast swings. This doesn't always have to be with feints, though it's nice to throw a few of those in there. When you feint, you can do a slow swing and then switch directions into a fast swing (feinting into a slow swing is bad, feinting from a slow swing is good) and stabs are always easier to block but harder to master strike against, so use those. Blunt strike (Stab, left swing, right under swing) is always a good opener. I also can tell you how to dodge if you don't get it.
@@hidan407 it is but it also isnt. you can pretty much win any fight so long as its a 1v1 and you know a single combo, even just the very first combo you unlock will carry you. However the combat system ceases to exist when you are fighting even just one more person at a time. a 1v4 plays like total ass and isnt fun or well designed. Its still one of my top 10 games of all time, you should try it, seeing as you havent Im guessing.
That gets old real fast. When spamming those exploit moves got boring, "all I had to do" was uninstalling the game, but here I am, using the combat system for real.
How do you even get combos in this game, every shitty bandit in dirty rugs and with wooden club recovers from being stunned before my second hit lands and every hit in his defense ends with my ass being master striked brutally. I really almost got clapped by just two most poor bandits because no armor = they quick and i cant keep the distance, and all 20 in every stat with best armor and double handed sword are NOT ENOUGH to do anything to them if they are not stunned already. I can only play passive defense and execute my own master strikes with slim chance to land additional hit in a narrow stun window. Its wild how cumans are so much easier and has so less stamina, two three hits in a block and poor guy gets thrown in a stun and only cuman leaders are able to deliver some master strikes back, though not with every hit in a block as hecking bandits could. Balance is seriously messed up in this game. Road knights and merceneries are also easy deal btw. Poor unarmored bandits are biggest threat in KCD
In this case, my stats must've been a lot higher than the enemy's, so he just struggled to parry. Otherwise, you need to create openings for a combo, as in moments when your enemy can't focus on parrying. After winning a clinch, after performing a master strike, after making him miss a hit, etc. In this playline. Also, fast weapons like sabres (and even longswords) are harder to parry than other one handed weapons. In this playline, I'm trying to duel each enemy without learning master strikes, while wearing little to no armour. Peasant bandits have dynamic stats/skills that grow along with yours until they become f.ing martial artists, so your best bet against them is a sabre or maybe a high-slash longsword.
yeah i thought the same, but finally, i played it, finished it, thats a great game, the lack of gory you don't mind really quickly, you can still headshot ennemies with an arrow, the ragdoll physics is really fun and the story, gameplay is just amazing, really immersive, try it man, you're missing out :)

This is one of the best combat clips in TH-cam. Very clean, 2 combos, no master-strike bs

How to learn the master strike? Is it a perk in combat?
@@papej3290 Bernard will teach you but your skill with one weapon needs to be at least level 3
I remember not learning Master strikes and fighting that bald boss dude for a good thirty minutes because my combos did jack shit.
You shouldn't use combos if your stats are overmatched. Instead you should rely on jabs, unlocks and feints
As soon as I saw that he had no helmet on I knew it was gonna be over so fast

And his armor too. That's why you use an arrow headshot for him, so you can sell his armor for more, without having to repair.
If had had money problems at this point, I'd sooner uninstall the game than care for the state of his armour :D
