    About Simple Little Life:
    This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
    Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
    Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

    "It's really easy to spend all your time making stuff for your shop, rather than making stuff in your shop"
    So true! Most of the time I also struggle balancing these two things :)

    The secret to stick and Mig welding is, Stay inside your puddle! For MIG, I like to weld in a counter clockwise motion. Also when you Mig weld vertical, always try to Weld downhill, it's faster and therefore you are not fighting gravity, gravity is actually helping you and you are not heating up your metal as much. Good Welds, you're doing well!

    Good to re-purpose instead of recycle. Turned out great and the dedicated grinder will probably speed your workflow up.

      Hahaha! Tomorrow’s TTT is already edited but those ear plugs are custom molded ones. They use to pay for them where I used to work. But, Costco does them for fairly reasonable too. I love them! Never thought foam earplugs were uncomfortable until I had a pair of these👍

    I totally understand what you mean about shop upgrades instead of actual work. Weather has been great here in WA state for weeks. Makes it hard to spend time indoors.

    It's easy to make workshop tweaking a full time job. When I was in the UK I had a 4 box stable building for a workshop.
    Each box was 16' X 16', No1. 2 strokes (chainsaws etc) my business, No2. metalworking, No3. Carpentry, then I started doing leather work in No4 and got an anvil outside and made a gas forge, began bashing bits of metal and still had a pile of 2 strokes to repair and get back to clients. Self discipline has to go high up the list.

    Great Vid, and like Jim Earlie, in my younger years as an apartment builder, we would sign our name on some parts of the job so that in the future, when it got torn down, they would know who built it...... kind like a time capsule. Enjoy all your vids.

  • @charlpohlmann4237

    With MIG you need to push the weld bead rather than pulling it like you would with arc welding. That way the gas covers the bead instead of trailing it.

      Simple Little Life haha no doubt that was a tough bullet to bite at my place. Also have you ever though about converting the dust collector from a bag type. To a exterior style one? I was thinking that its something i may do so i can use the bobcat to empty it once a year instead of once a week.

  • @evaderknives
    @evaderknives 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Haha, I'm in the same boat. I want to make a new tracking wheel arm for my KMG, so I can run it in reverse to sharpen knives, with an attachment like on Reeder grinder, so I can turn my grinder in a sharpening jig. Also have tool arms like a TW90 & Wilmont Grinders with the 3/4" round bar everything pivots on. Then there is the Bevel Jig(I always freehand, it would be a fun project), but like you said you get so involved in making stuff for the shop, you are barely making anything in the shop, hahaha...Take it easy...

    I noticed you didn't weld it to the wall like last time, I remember cringing & thinking that I hope he never has to move it....... This set up is much better in my humble opinion.
