    The real solution to battery fires is to quit purchasing jank ass bootleg DTC E-bikes and shell out a little extra for a Bosch drive where everything meets UL safety certifications instead of trusting your Yusseffi Radego 73 Power Ebike Bike to be a safe quality product.

      Agree. But the average consumer (and almost all boomers) sees something for sale in the global marketplace and assumes it’s safe, tested, and backed by the company. They are of course, mistaken.

    What? If you can't leave a battery plugged in for long time it is not a customer issue, it is a product issue. Literally every single well designed product with a lithium battery inside can be left charging for as long as you want. The BMS should not overvolt the cells.

      Shouldn’t, but it does. First warning in almost every e-bike manual is how to charge the batteries. It’s a problem for a lot of them that aren’t UL certified. NYC is starting to ban them.

      i recently bought an ebike, its coming tonight or later this week.
      but on the website they wont even sbip to New York, i dont live there but it seems like one of the best states for an ebike market. i hope they work out the kinks
      1) safety
      2) charging stations
      3) ebike workers
      4) safety measures for ebike Fleet

    Thanks for this information. Hopefully this will save many lives and heartache. I already practice charging my battery only when home and removing it from the charger once charged. But I didn't think about charging two batteries at the same time on the same circuit. I will learn which outlets are on different circuits. Perhaps just charge 1 battery at a time. I only have two e-bikes. What are your thought about leaving the battery in the bike. Should I remove the battery when not using it? Thanks for your input and review.

      The double battery charging will depend a lot on your home and circuitry. My father is an electrician, and he has issues with people burning up their outlets while running multiple space heaters in the winter. Same issue, too much load. It doesn’t matter if the battery is on or off the bike, though during the winter, it’s best to bring the batteries inside if they’re going to be subjected to sub 40 degree weather for an extended period of time.

      @@Jeff_Rey Thanks Jeff for your reply. My bikes stay in a climate controlled environment so cold is not an issue. My home is older though so outlets are at a premium. I think I'll just stick to charging one battery at a time and pull it off the charger soon after it's finished. Thanks again for your work. 👍

    the E-bike companies should develop anti-burn system. I mean that's not even that hard

    my ebike charger uses about 110 watts, so it is a small load on electrical outlet, same as 100 watt bulb. I know this because I have measured the load.

    Use a plug in timer, I use KASA smart plugs (amazon $10-$15) on all my PEV's. Been using e-bikes since 2013 and never had any problems.

      @Jeff_Rey  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s good! It sounds like you’re aware of the potential risks and the need to unplug them. Most people are completely ignorant and think it’s like keeping a cell phone plugged in charging.

    • @ericolens3
      @ericolens3 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      its 2023 level technology afterall. its 2024 for the comment, but the TECH was made and optimized based on 2023 for intents amd purposes, effectively speaking.
      heck smart phones nowadays even have a sensor to stop at 85% charge, lower the charge speed after 50%, you would think a battery charger could at least stop at 99-101% charge.
      the best batteries for ebikes are Samsung, LG afterall, theres a third one but it slips my mind, but i think its also a korean company.

      Jeff’s correct and a really good reminder. There’s a lot of pain and suffering to those who don’t read even for me.
      One day I was going through my manual on a float pack that I had. It had a forced protocol when it came to charge and I couldn’t get it to start on my own. You wouldn’t believe the difference it made with charging everything I owned after I read every tiny little manual. Example: when charging devices unplug everything then add the brick, then usb cable then phone and your at optimal charge with OEM parts.
