I actually have a lot of Rhino USA recovery grear and they have work flawlessly, but I also know how to recover as well. You pointed out various marketing flaws this company has, which is very factual and their marketing gimmicks should be reassessed.
I’m new to off-roading, and had a full shopping cart of almost everything they sell at Rhino gear. Then, I figured that I should check out online reviews to see what other people say about it before I purchase it. They are very deceptive with the “USA” name. Thank you for this video and your courage to share the information! I’ll be looking for some actual “made in USA” gear for my recovery kit.
I have watched probably 50 or more of your recovery videos. My wife asked me today why? She knew I don’t want a jeep or to drive thru swamps or climb hills in an expensive 4x4 vehicle. I told her that I enjoy watching how you solve mechanical engineering problems. If you don’t have a degree or two in Mechanical Engineering you certainly have learned enough to teach - not just get a degree. I appreciate this video and the effort you have taken to keep us all safe. I have questioned some of the same practices that you have pointed out. One major point this video seems to miss is when it says that Rhino USA buys their products off the shelf in China and performs no testing of their own. Right on the front page of the Rhino USA website it says their products are "Designed & Lab Tested in the USA." That is American engineering. While one can argue against using Chinese labor, I did not see this video repeat the "Designed & Lab Tested in the USA" American engineering aspect nor mention that Rhino USA was asked about it. Instead, this video just puts out an unsubstantiated claim to the contrary. A video like this has got to be squeaky clean or else it damages its own credibility, falling into the same general category as the videos it is criticizing by presenting half-truths or straignt out false information. Clean these issues up and you've got a strong, even-handed safety video! Thank you!
Nothing wrong with cheap gear harbor freight is full of cheap stuff which is fine for a lot of people The bad training videos is where we see the issue and crossing the line
I’ve been doing recovering work on and off for over 30 years. You touch in a lot of great points. One thing Rhino China has that is good is there tool roll bag. So far I have not killed it like many others. 😂😂
They make shackles for those straps for one. Secondly you never use breaking strength. Always working load limit. Also when using a basket it doubles working load limit.
I guess that's why they use the terminology work load instead of "safe" load! Thanks for you're video! I'm looking for all the best stuff I can put together for our Jeep and you just saved me from making a huge mistake!!👍🏻
Hey man, love your channel. I ordered a tree saver and some snatch blocks from Rhino USA, then I saw this video. I cancelled my order right away and ordered from somewhere else, saved some money too. Thanks!
Thank God for people like YOU & putting time and effort into showing people how to do recoveries correctly!!! Good for you for speaking up for what is RIGHT and how to do it SAFELY!!! Florida guy here who just found your channel. I’m looking for some basic but quality recovery gear to carry in my 4Runner . What brands do you recommend ? Thanks in advance.
Great video! One comment about the tow point you mentioned on the Honda. I am not sure if the statement "those points are meant to be pulled on" is universally correct. I for one own a car where this is only partially the case. It does have two attachement points, one in the front, one in the back (these are "screw in" types though). The manual states, that the one in front is ok to pull on as long if you are pulling straight, explicitly for situations where the car is stuck. The back one however is NOT meant to be pulled on, and by the looks of it only is rated to be a tie down point (during shipping I suppose). Visually, there is no way to tell them apart though, so I reckon it's not the attachement point but rather the fact where said point is mounted on that is the limiting factor here. For that reason, I think it would be wise to take a look into the manual before pulling on any OEM attachment point on a car.
Excellent video! I use Factor 55 and Safe X-tract gear along with US ActionTrax recovery boards. I also run a Warn Zeon 12-S winch as well. Proper rigging is the key to safety along with having the proper gear and knowing the working limits.
We are testing safer xtract app currently And We are going to be testing their snatch blocks soon They reached out after our friction loss test of the crappy donut 🍩
The safe working load varies depending on WHAT the rigging doing. Towing is the highest, then overhead lifting is much lower, then lifting people (as opposed to cagro) is the smallest as it has the highest safety factor calculated in. The safety factor for overhand lifting is egaly 5 times the breaking strength, so if a sling is rated at 5 tons breaking strength, it is rates at ONE ton for overhead lifting, this is pretty much standard for lifts, and riggg on OSHA Covered work sites in North America. The rated strength of towing or vehicle recovery is not standardized, some manufacturers use the same 5:1 safety factor .. while many feel 4:1 is safe enough ... The old Military Rating was just 2:1 fr towing and recovery. .. Some soldiers say that's for battle conditions only?? ... And use 5:1 for non emergency recoveries, but it's hard to pin down. The other thing more important than just number s is experience, and Florida Off Road Recovery, has plenty of experience, I would trust the figures he uses for towing and recovery, ratings any day! I just thought I'd ad this info, I worked in the rigging and lifting for may years under construction site rules, and am still licensed .. I worked on several recoveries when I was in the Military.
I was at the RhinoUSA several months ago and it said the KER strap was 80% polyester and 20% silk. Today it says the straps and 100% nylon. Maybe they got the message. It does not say where the nylon comes from or the type of nylon. High grade straps/ropes are PA Nylon 6 or 6,6
I am kinda new to the off road stuff what should I look at getting to recover my self and other people? Right now I have a 8,000 lb warn winch with cable and a tree saver strap. Any help is better then no help. Keep up the good videos you do.
A comment about using mini J hooks. I have seen several damaged frames working at a dealer. And most manufacturers say these are tie down points while some stating flat toe only. Would it work? Maybe. Situation dependant. I would trust your discretion with what I have heard with the resistantsliding scale. I would just add that disclamer to the video so no one tries to recover a car sunk to the frame in mud, doubling the vehicle weight.
The mini J hook part lost me too. First off frame damage is highly likely, and secondly the G70 Mini J Hooks are only WLL at 4700 vs the axle strap at 3700. Not much a difference there. Both are really intended for tie down and not recovery. And that little tow hook he points out on that car in the video is also mostly a tie down point. Snatching on that point risks tearing a hole in the spare tire well!
I'll admit that I have their tree saver straps. When I first got my Jeep and started looking for recovery gear, I liked that the company was started local by a father and his boys. They seemed to blow up shortly after I got their straps. I admired Wes and how he was willing to help recovery stuck vehicles for free. At the same time there were a few instances when I knew his techniques weren't what I'd consider ideal or the safest. I commented on the Facebook page asking about manufacturing their products here in the USA and they mentioned they were going to make more of their products here but that doesn't seem to have come true. Another company with a similar name, Gear America, does the same thing. I have since started buying only US made recovery gear as much as I am able. A few things about your video, while you're correct about the breaking strength vs load strength but when is anyone going to use/need to pull more than 14k lbs.? If you need to pull that much, I would hope you spend more than $25. Your video implies that 14k lbs isn't enough. You mention tow straps and kenetic ropes but didn't mention recovery straps which do in fact stretch similar kenetic ropes just not nearly as much and do not last for as many pulls. Having Rhino USA recovery gear is better than no gear at all but it's definitely in your and our country's best interest to buy US made.
Wes loves bragging that he does free reacues dosnt he? But how can you say they are free while being paid to perform them for free?? Almost like saying an police officer came to help you when your stuff got broken into for free But that’s their job so was it free?? They will do anything to block bann and prevent anyone not pro RhinoUSA from helping anyone Because they use the whole free free free thing as a sale pitch We have been to hundreds of jobs where those free guys failed and charged “fuel” fees and still call themselves free It’s all smoke and mirrors Also we constantly pull more then 14k Here in the swamps of your 6,000lb rig is bumper deep in mud will require 12-18,000lbs
Man I wish I saw this video earlier this yr. Back in March I bought one of their tow straps just to keep in the truck. Thankfully I have not needed to use it.
A buddy of ours didn’t have the money to purchase one of our straps so he against my teachings purchased a RhinaChina ultimate recovery strap Tore it in half on the first job
@@matt.mckinzie After seeing your vids there's no way I'll be putting my life or anyone else's in danger with that strap. I don't even feel comfortable selling or giving it away. Not worth the risk. This explains why I don't see any 4x4 recovery channels using Rhina gear. I've already decided to put away some funds for some Factor55 kit. Thanks again for the knowledge drop.
@@whiskeyactual. no problem our main goal is safety even if you don’t buy the company we use we can still recommend other quality companies Like bubba rope Yankum rope Both of them are also American companies that make their products here And both have open testing on their equipment to prove their products are rated for what they put on the tags
@@whiskeyactual. You know what man... Last April I flew from SF Bay to Orlando for the first tow convention of the year and I got to talk to some of the guys at the Factor 55 booth. I was surprised to see them there and I was impressed on their knowledge and the fact that they test their equipment properly. I havent had the need to, but when I start gearing up again I would definitely buy from them.
This is why I prefer steel, old-school to me is the best even though now for the first time I’m running a warn winch with Warn synthetic line because I’m trying to keep the weight down in the front, but anything synthetic scares me, I know people use all this new stuff now but personally I don’t like it.
Today I returned to Amazon a Rhino USA rope & 2-shackle + zippered pouch kit I bought for $180, a good price (I thought). Sold as new. But I am keeping the Yankum rope I bought, which by itself cost the same but did not include shackles and pouch. The Rhino kit arrived on my doorstep directly from Rhino USA, in its retail box identifying its contents, not an Amazon box. The box was in good condition and sealed. When I opened it and took out the rope for inspection, I found evidence of prior use ... soft and distinct indentations and black marks, as from a D shackle. So as much as it pains me to go with the very expensive Yankum rope, plus a couple of soft shackles purchased at additional cost, my first experience with Rhino USA is my last.
After 30 days they said my order was delivered. Of course it was not and then they say they are not responsible for deliveries. Will never order from this company again . Make you feel like crap from their emails
Yes but you can get some of it from Amazon And Factor55.com Order it straight from them for quicker delivery We are a certified dealer for them but currently set up for drop shipping And they seem to take forever to ship 1-2 weeks When we place the orders So we are going to just purchase the equipment and have it on hand so we can ship faster in the near future We just don’t want people upset with delayed shipping when we only make about 8-$12 a sale
@@matt.mckinzie any other brands you'd recommend ? I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for your knowledge. $8-$12 is a big savings to not buy junk from China. I see FierryRed, TuggERRR and even MaxTraxx sold by a lot of "off roading" stores
API Rigger working many years on oil rigs. Rigged up simple and complex rigging arrangements with loads ranging from 1250 ton capability to chain falls and come alongs. Doing things incorrectly can kill you or what’s worse someone you’re trying to train. No one wants that on their conscience.
Matt - the stuck car that Rhino guy was about to pull out with "baby" tie down straps looks like a unibody car - with no frame like your Jeep. Would your mini J hooks work on a unibody vehicle?
I unfortunately own a pair of RhinoChina soft shackles…hooked up to my tow strap properly and after two pulls, the shackle was melted where the strap made contact with it🤦♂️fail..
I wish I would’ve found your channel sooner. I bought a set of soft shackles from them. Matt, give me a recommendation on which American company I can get a good set of shackles from. Thanks in advance
You seem to know your stuff however I have to agree that the little compact frameless cars don't have a good place to hook on to and the A frames / control arms seem to be the best options in my opinion as the hook holes tear and rip very easy. Please do some videos for us on these beer cans. Thanks in advance.
We hook to control arms all the time But we don’t recommend straps that are waaaay to short and too small Then a hard shackle Then a soft shackle Then a yanking rope
I got a set of the pro tire deflators from Wes and they don’t work. I mean I guess they do but they won’t stop deflating like they are supposed to. Another thing what do you think about the badlands recovery gear?
You lost me at every car has a point in the frame to connect a mini J hook.. I think majority cars are uni body currently, no frame so a Prius has a point to attach a j hook? Yeap that car had a tie down point and I think he should have used that. I'm definitely not an expert, but if there is no tie down point what would be wrong with using a soft chackle to a kinetic rope?
They have so many metal projectiles between the weak point "axle straps" and the main rope. Putting out a product instructional video like that is just a liability lawsuit waiting to happen when the inevitable tragedy strikes. Fewer parts, as few projectiles as possible, and the use weighted blankets for snatch and winch work is ideal.
I'm getting into off-roading as I have a Jeep Wrangler. After watching this..Im having second thoughts on even wanting too. I bought a tow strap from Rhino thinking this will help but I see it's not. No I have no one near or around me that seem to be interested in Off-Roading. I've gone on trails by myself and I've gotten stuck (took 30mins for me to free myself) I want to join a group but I don't want to just join any random group.
learn self recover techniques instead of buddy recover techniques, little more pricey. But traction Boards, Hi lift jack, winch. Let me get you a link of a book to teach you everything you need to know for about 60 bucks
this book teaching you everything about getting unstuck all the winching techniques, board techniques, hi lift techniques, how to use deadman's, anchors, pulleys, winches, everything
@@matt.mckinzie Much appreciated. I did buy traction boards and im looking into getting a winch and winch plate do to me having the factory plastic bumper.
While he is factual, these straps will in most cases be fine i believe. For people that'll use them a lot, go buy more expensive ones. Not a fan of the way this guy used some random BS thumbnail of a busted green rope, isn't that misleading????
They are ok But not much more then that It would be fine for weekend 4x4 guys needing something just in case It’s the bad “training” videos Unsafe teachings And bad information the company puts out That’s the biggest issue
Although I have not purchased any recover equipment from Rhino, I did make the mistake of buying an e-tool and imagine this, it failed on its first use of digging a fire pit. Something as simple as a washer that was part of the folding mechanism completely failed on the first use. I can’t speak for their recovery equipment, but based on my experience and this video it’s not something I would experiment with.
Thank you. I use to drive a semi truck off road and people would get mad at because I won't participate in unsafe practices just you are showing us here. They would bring out a chain with a working strength of less than 5000 pounds and want to snatch a loaded (80,000 pound) semi truck out of the mud with zillion horsepower skidder. I would tell people, you are f-ing insane if you think I am going to be anywhere near the triangle of death when you go to snatching on these loaded semi truck. When a chain come apart under those kinds of forces, it's like it's been shot out of canon. There is not much going to stop it; especially flesh.
I’ve got a Rhino strap and the first time I used it I noticed how bouncy it felt..there’s no way I’d do anything but light recovery and towing with it. The dude recommending using an axle tie down strap as part of kinetic rope pull is a idiot..seems like he’d be criminally liable when somebody got killed by that bow shackle flying at 200 mph.
I have had my rhino strap for about over 2 years. Its been great. I dont do heavy duty pulls. No issues. No tears. Ive pulled a couple cars out. Up to a chevy 1500 with a cherokee with ease. Pulled bogged in mud cars with no tow points. No issues.
@OffRoadRecovery Thank You so much for this video. I am super new to the community (just days) and have seen these products ALOT and was going to get a bunch of it. Until your video everything I’ve found seemed to be just opinionated arguments. Thank You again, take care!
Great video. I like wes and the things he does to help others. I didn't realize how sketchy some of his recovery techniques were. My rhino stuff has been great so far. My 7/8ths kinetic withstood a fl80 yanking on a buried to the frame international with a full tank of poo (35k lbs estimated total). Any opinions on the voodoo offroad lineup?
Our issue with rhino is strictly Wes and his idiotic training videos He has removed a lot of them now so you can’t see the full story But his training videos are strictly towards newbies with no experience so they take in all that bad information and apply it to these free recovery groups are getting people injured and killed That’s our issue Voodoo seems like legit quality gear I’ve looked at their stuff I have not tested any of it yet tho
Thank you! I've just purchased "Rhino USA" Kinetic 7/8 x 30' rope and1/2 x 20" soft shackles. After your video I'm not sure about using them. Do you have a recommendation for USA made products not as expensive as Yankum ropes?
We do not, stuff made in USA are held to a higher standard Minimum rage is higher That have to meet certain levels of testing tagging and such All that cost $$$ That’s why the cheap stuff is made over seas they don’t need to test their products They don’t need to use the same materials Nothing They just slap a really good exchange warranty on it so when it fails customers feel good about getting a new one but they are cheap enough people just buy another one Yankum is the most expensive The best I can tell you for American made Check out Bubba Rope They are made in Florida We use factor 55 The ropes are made in Texas Rhino rope 150 Factor55 180 Rhino soft shackle 30 Factor55 50 Everything is more expensive But they also last much longer I tested a rhino soft shackle Again I do rescues every single day After 2 weeks it was junk I’ve been using the same f55 soft shackles for 10 months now China stuff is made out of cheap Uhmwpe While USA brands use a high grade Dyneema You can immediately tell the difference holding the two Hold a rhino soft shackle in one hand it’s like a hard plastic and stiff While other brands are soft ropes
Just run your Rhino stuff and you will be fine. A cheaper kinetic rope and soft shackle is still much safer than all the tow ropes looped on tow balls that is far too common.
@Off Road recovery I have a couple off Rhino USA products, Do you recommend get rid of Rhino USA products and by a different ones? What do you recommend? I looking for a soft shakle and Kinetic rope.
Good morning brother! Man false information is going to get someone killed! I used axle straps like that but it’s just for my safety chains just so I don’t have chains rubbing on the control arms. People should always be taught about the safe WLL.
@@matt.mckinzie Man... Today I was wanting to buy their tow hitch D-ring shackle thing... One quick eyeball and I'm like nah... I'll stick with my solid chunk trusty Curt. It looks like you're in the tow business. I did 3a and repo for ten years. Thinking about starting up for myself. Where are you located? Edit: What's that card thing you were reading towards the end?
Very good video, very informational but if you are going to wear the 'White Hat' in your campaign against unsafe practices...DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL WITH THIS OTHER RECOVERY MAN. Point out the weak links & unsafe practices and don't do the triple re-play of him making a wrong statement. Once is enough or else your video starts to appear like an attack on this other man. KEEP THE HIGH GROUND & STICK TO THE FACTS.
@Off Road Recovery I think you did a perfect job here. Rhino is nothing but deception and wrong information, and this needed to be pointed out in a blunt way. They simply bought a Chinese product, mislead people into buying it, and apparently couldn't read their own Chinese instructions on how to properly use their own stuff. They clearly don't know a damn thing about recovery or recovery gear, and I think it takes a harsh/blunt video like this to finally get that point across to people. So thank you!!
@Charles Irby this is a dog that deliberately misleads customers, so yes this one does need to be kicked. I would absolutely agree with you if they were an honest company that made a mistake, but that's not the case here.
Ahem...well, it should be pointed out with great prejudice because that other clown obviously has no formal training or knowledge however he "teaches" other people!!! He's gonna get somebody hurt or killed!!! Because of the seriousness of it I disagree with your comment.
Great video, viewer just interested in equipment for keep in my truck, is there a company that sells a kit that is good quality and good enough for occasional stranded motorists?
Lol yea hey you should invent something? Call it a tjhook. You can make it have some turntable thing, like a little mini hook thingy, and a big hook. And you could attach it all together. Maybe even add a chain?
Is there a go between from cheap China and price gouging USA? I want a good rope but you are telling me i have to pay 250-350 for a recovery rope I may use a hand full of time during the year?
Seems most companies/manufacturers use a mix of lots of #'s, %, metric, etc.... just marketing, like "EPA" fuel efficiency, ladder heights/reach, ev range, etc... basically your saying read the ingredients, study, take the lowest #'s, double check, pay attention and don't be stupid. Call on a professional.
already at 1:38 you are showing something that i have never seen him do and you are trying to say how he does. not. go find someone who really does it dangerously and bag on them.
Lol....well not really. Thst guy's gonna get someone killed!!! I'm a forklift mechanic and ALL straps, chains, holding or lifting devices MUST have a load rating....not a break rating!!! That is just a way that a company can cover their own asses!!! That kind of garbage is illegal to use on any job site!!!

@@fike301, the Warn Zeons are made here in the USA thus why they cost more money. But to me it worth the extra money.
The working load limit always has a safety factor for dynamic loads. That is why the maximum breaking strength is there.
High grade straps/ropes are PA Nylon 6 or 6,6
Maybe they pulled a yankum and just changed the number due to this video rather than actually changing the equipment.
I'm brutal on my equipment. All of my recovery gear is RINO.
Maybe he tried to get a discount from Rhino and they said NO !!!!!!!
Ay mate I would never use a strap with silk init but I like silk sheets on me bed.
I am kinda new to the off road stuff what should I look at getting to recover my self and other people? Right now I have a 8,000 lb warn winch with cable and a tree saver strap. Any help is better then no help. Keep up the good videos you do.
Tree saver
Few soft shackles
A snatch block
Air compressor
Hi what type of shackles are holding the J hooks on your endless loop strap? What are those called or where can I find them?
Thx
Chain coupler
Or
Sometimes called a tri link
Thank you
A comment about using mini J hooks.
Would love to see a response to this from @offroadrecoveryFL
Almost like saying an police officer came to help you when your stuff got broken into for free
But that’s their job so was it free??
They will do anything to block bann and prevent anyone not pro RhinoUSA from helping anyone
Because they use the whole free free free thing as a sale pitch
We have been to hundreds of jobs where those free guys failed and charged “fuel” fees and still call themselves free
It’s all smoke and mirrors
Also we constantly pull more then 14k
Here in the swamps of your 6,000lb rig is bumper deep in mud will require 12-18,000lbs
SGT KNOTS...made in the USA...veteran owned
Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome!
First you're using a full length strap to show the strap version. H was usuing a tree saver strap ehich is much shorter.
Man I wish I saw this video earlier this yr. Back in March I bought one of their tow straps just to keep in the truck. Thankfully I have not needed to use it.
A buddy of ours didn’t have the money to purchase one of our straps so he against my teachings purchased a RhinaChina ultimate recovery strap
Tore it in half on the first job
@@matt.mckinzie After seeing your vids there's no way I'll be putting my life or anyone else's in danger with that strap. I don't even feel comfortable selling or giving it away. Not worth the risk. This explains why I don't see any 4x4 recovery channels using Rhina gear. I've already decided to put away some funds for some Factor55 kit. Thanks again for the knowledge drop.
@@whiskeyactual. no problem our main goal is safety even if you don’t buy the company we use we can still recommend other quality companies
Like bubba rope
Yankum rope
Both of them are also American companies that make their products here
And both have open testing on their equipment to prove their products are rated for what they put on the tags

Yankma rope may be a little out of my price range but it is the way to go.
I just watched this guy do a rescue last night "the trainer" & I remember thinking how lost he was. It was almost funny.
He’s gotten a tiny bit better since our old TikTok war
But not much
Thank you for this video. I learned a bunch. Hope you have a good lawyer on retainer after this.
🤣🤣🤣 yeah they seem like the type
After 30 days they said my order was delivered. Of course it was not and then they say they are not responsible for deliveries. Will never order from this company again . Make you feel like crap from their emails
Very interesting info, it seems a fair amount is pretty obvious if one does just a little research. Learning a lot watching these videos.
All seems obvious to us as well but their target customers have no idea about any rigging
some glad I seen this video before clicking buy now on my Amazon cart lol. I see you sell Factor 55 on your website.
Yes but you can get some of it from Amazon
And
Factor55.com
Order it straight from them for quicker delivery
We are a certified dealer for them but currently set up for drop shipping
And they seem to take forever to ship 1-2 weeks
When we place the orders
So we are going to just purchase the equipment and have it on hand so we can ship faster in the near future
We just don’t want people upset with delayed shipping when we only make about 8-$12 a sale

Matt - the stuck car that Rhino guy was about to pull out with "baby" tie down straps looks like a unibody car - with no frame like your Jeep.
Would your mini J hooks work on a unibody vehicle?
Yep
I unfortunately own a pair of RhinoChina soft shackles…hooked up to my tow strap properly and after two pulls, the shackle was melted where the strap made contact with it🤦♂️fail..
I wish I would’ve found your channel sooner. I bought a set of soft shackles from them.
Matt, give me a recommendation on which American company I can get a good set of shackles from. Thanks in advance
Factor 55 all day
You seem to know your stuff however I have to agree that the little compact frameless cars don't have a good place to hook on to and the A frames / control arms seem to be the best options in my opinion as the hook holes tear and rip very easy. Please do some videos for us on these beer cans. Thanks in advance.
We hook to control arms all the time
But we don’t recommend straps that are waaaay to short and too small
Then a hard shackle
Then a soft shackle
Then a yanking rope
Is a wheel solid enough to pull on on these beer can cars?
@@matt.mckinzie
I got a set of the pro tire deflators from Wes and they don’t work. I mean I guess they do but they won’t stop deflating like they are supposed to. Another thing what do you think about the badlands recovery gear?
Wes the one thing I dislike more then RhinaChina 😂 he is the one doing the horrible training videos
I love it, I have a Rhino USA ad right below your video.
Fewer parts, as few projectiles as possible, and the use weighted blankets for snatch and winch work is ideal.
in a pinch, on budget bought some of their soft shackles ... but they are now in the garbage. Replacing with Bubba shackles
Bubba gator 🐊 jaws are the best
Great lay down of needed information.
Let me get you a link of a book to teach you everything you need to know for about 60 bucks
amzn.to/41XVW7m
this book teaching you everything about getting unstuck all the winching techniques, board techniques, hi lift techniques, how to use deadman's, anchors, pulleys, winches, everything
@@matt.mckinzie Much appreciated. I did buy traction boards and im looking into getting a winch and winch plate do to me having the factory plastic bumper.
Very eye opening Thank you. good to know.
While he is factual, these straps will in most cases be fine i believe. For people that'll use them a lot, go buy more expensive ones. Not a fan of the way this guy used some random BS thumbnail of a busted green rope, isn't that misleading????
I used a rhino USA tow strap once and it started to come apart. Other than that the rest of the stuff has been ok. 🤷♂️
They are ok
But not much more then that
It would be fine for weekend 4x4 guys needing something just in case
It’s the bad “training” videos
Unsafe teachings
And bad information the company puts out
That’s the biggest issue
Although I have not purchased any recover equipment from Rhino, I did make the mistake of buying an e-tool and imagine this, it failed on its first use of digging a fire pit. Something as simple as a washer that was part of the folding mechanism completely failed on the first use. I can’t speak for their recovery equipment, but based on my experience and this video it’s not something I would experiment with.
15:13 that’s not a recovery hook point.
Who do you recommend then? All this time spent bashing
We use factor55
But bubba rope is also good
So is yankum ropes
@@matt.mckinzie thank you
Thanks for this video, brother.
We have seen a lot of chains do a lot of damage
I’ve got a Rhino strap and the first time I used it I noticed how bouncy it felt..there’s no way I’d do anything but light recovery and towing with it. The dude recommending using an axle tie down strap as part of kinetic rope pull is a idiot..seems like he’d be criminally liable when somebody got killed by that bow shackle flying at 200 mph.
Good information Bud... Thanks.
I now regret buying a rhino strap. I specifically wanted one that did not stretch....
I have had my rhino strap for about over 2 years. Its been great. I dont do heavy duty pulls. No issues. No tears. Ive pulled a couple cars out. Up to a chevy 1500 with a cherokee with ease. Pulled bogged in mud cars with no tow points. No issues.
You have nothing to worry about their good straps I have them
I found this video after I’ve bought a bunch of RhinoUSA stuff. What should I do with it? ShitCan it?
Our issue with rhino is strictly Wes and his idiotic training videos
He has removed a lot of them now so you can’t see the full story
But his training videos are strictly towards newbies with no experience so they take in all that bad information and apply it to these free recovery groups are getting people injured and killed
That’s our issue
Voodoo seems like legit quality gear I’ve looked at their stuff
I have not tested any of it yet tho
Thank you! I've just purchased "Rhino USA" Kinetic 7/8 x 30' rope and1/2 x 20" soft shackles. After your video I'm not sure about using them. Do you have a recommendation for USA made products not as expensive as Yankum ropes?
We do not, stuff made in USA are held to a higher standard
Minimum rage is higher
That have to meet certain levels of testing tagging and such
All that cost $$$
That’s why the cheap stuff is made over seas they don’t need to test their products
They don’t need to use the same materials
Nothing
They just slap a really good exchange warranty on it so when it fails customers feel good about getting a new one but they are cheap enough people just buy another one
Yankum is the most expensive
The best I can tell you for American made
Check out Bubba Rope
They are made in Florida
We use factor 55
The ropes are made in Texas
Rhino rope 150
Factor55 180
Rhino soft shackle 30
Factor55 50
Everything is more expensive
But they also last much longer
I tested a rhino soft shackle
Again I do rescues every single day
After 2 weeks it was junk
I’ve been using the same f55 soft shackles for 10 months now
China stuff is made out of cheap
Uhmwpe
While USA brands use a high grade
Dyneema
You can immediately tell the difference holding the two
Hold a rhino soft shackle in one hand it’s like a hard plastic and stiff
While other brands are soft ropes
Just run your Rhino stuff and you will be fine. A cheaper kinetic rope and soft shackle is still much safer than all the tow ropes looped on tow balls that is far too common.
Bubba ropes are USA made 100%
You have nothing to worry about I have their product and it's great this guy is way over-the-top
@@matt.mckinzie factor 55 also uses that "cheap uhmwpe". Just saying😊
Where can one get one of those loupe rigging straps that you have?
@Off Road recovery
I have a couple off Rhino USA products, Do you recommend get rid of Rhino USA products and by a different ones? What do you recommend? I looking for a soft shakle and Kinetic rope.
He seems to use factor 55, zips, b/a products, lift all to name a few

Good morning brother! Man false information is going to get someone killed! I used axle straps like that but it’s just for my safety chains just so I don’t have chains rubbing on the control arms. People should always be taught about the safe WLL.
That would fall under securement, what they are designed for not recovery

Edit: What's that card thing you were reading towards the end?
Very good video, very informational but if you are going to wear the 'White Hat' in your campaign against unsafe practices...DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL WITH THIS OTHER RECOVERY MAN. Point out the weak links & unsafe practices and don't do the triple re-play of him making a wrong statement. Once is enough or else your video starts to appear like an attack on this other man. KEEP THE HIGH GROUND & STICK TO THE FACTS.
Appreciate the pointers
@Off Road Recovery I think you did a perfect job here. Rhino is nothing but deception and wrong information, and this needed to be pointed out in a blunt way. They simply bought a Chinese product, mislead people into buying it, and apparently couldn't read their own Chinese instructions on how to properly use their own stuff. They clearly don't know a damn thing about recovery or recovery gear, and I think it takes a harsh/blunt video like this to finally get that point across to people. So thank you!!
@@gringohulk YOU DON'T NEED TO KICK A DOG WHEN HE IS DOWN...IN A DECADE OR TWO, YOU WILL COME TO REALIZE THIS.

Lol yea hey you should invent something? Call it a tjhook. You can make it have some turntable thing, like a little mini hook thingy, and a big hook. And you could attach it all together. Maybe even add a chain?
Yes sir as a rigger I approve this message
I'm thinking I need to get one of those bungee cord chains.
Thanks for the informative video.
It's what you can afford if you buy a cheaper strap just beware to be easy on it.
