This song brought tears to my eyes as I look around and see so much hate over skin tone - realizing Jesus died for each of our sins, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, age or other differences immature people fight about. "Then Peter replied, 'I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. But in every nation, anyone who fears (respects) Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.'" Acts 10:34-35
In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, neither black nor white, neither Jew or Palestinians, but we are all one in Christ Jesus!! Thank you Holy Father ❤️❤️❤️
Dear DC talk! My brother was a marine vet in 1991. He was 10yrs older than me. He came home in 92 and showed my mom and I ur guys music. My mom and I were Christians amd we absolutely loved all ur music! My mom was in her late 40s in the early 90s music and loved ur sound. She said if hip hop was this she would li e all of it lol. This song refers to the fact that God is a master artisan, and that our differences in appearance should be celebrated rather than denigrated. Those racists among you, take note - God is no respector of persons. You will face judgment along with every other member of the human race, when time comes. We are all part of the same tapestry.
God also created the nations of peoples, each of them with an appointed land and border. When man tried to come together as one God got angered and separated us and gave us diffeent languages.
@@exposingantiwhiteism5091, God wasn’t angry that they came together. You totally missed the point of that story. They came together to build a tower that would reach the heavens. I really never thought much of racism, I grew up in Idaho. But, I listened to and really liked DC Talk and Petra from like 1st grade. Fortunately though, I did meet an awesome brother in Christ many years ago, in my 20's at the same mental health outpatient clinic. We found out our circumstances were more similar to each other than my identical twin's are with mine. It was an awesome relationship that I know i will cherish forever. We both have the same diagnosis. We found so much comfort in our friendship. He is black and I am white. But, yes, it worked out very well.

One of the greatest christian bands of all time. Created songs that made people think and confront what was wrong in their own lives. I remember seeing them in concert when they were on their Jesus Freak tour and talk about awesome. TobyMac even shared the Word with the audience.
Growing up where I did.... gulf coast Mississippi, growing up when I did… 70s-80s, growing up with the name I did, growing up how I did, the only way I will ever be able to overcome the racial boundary is through God’s help. And I search for that...Every… Single… Day!

I never saw a musical band like this. That takes the gospel to the youth through example and excellent music. I love you DC Talk. I hope to meet you some day. Greetings from Argentina 💪🏼
Now this is the type of Christian music I can get behind, where it's messaging is more honest, subtle and nuanced instead of pandering and overt. They care more about the art of their craft instead of preaching to the choir.
"A piece of canvas is only the beginning for It takes on character with every loving stroke This thing of beauty is the passion of an Artist's heart By God's design, we are a skin kaleidoscope" Probably my favorite line in all of Christian music. It portrays God as Artist, and our human bodies as a canvas that God decorates. Many of us know what it feels like to be "in the zone" creating something meaningful to us. The pride in it, the desire to see it completed. Maybe writing a song or a story/novel, maybe a drawing, knitting a sweater, programming code. That feeling of passion and excitement while creating that you don't even want to eat, sleep and you definitely don't want to stop...It's neat to imagine God experiencing a similar feeling of passion while creating each individual human.
I run a chamber of commerce in a minority majority community. I started a Black owned business conference that was in opposition to the majority of my white board. Thank you for sharing truth long before it was popular!!!

Kevin Max changed, he left that evangelical gimmick which was actually a good move but claiming to be anarchist and socialist worshiping a "universal Christ" while supporting left-wing causes sounds like moves toward ANTIChrist to me...
The gentleman who was from South Africa, Mr. Mark Coetzee,. stated that he did not know why people always looked at the South African population as a dark color, not brown but of a darker shade somewhat closer to black. He feels that many of us look at things this way. My only response to him would be that each of us makes up a piece of the puzzle, whether red, yellow, black, white, brown, or any other color. Thank God He made us all different colors so we would be able to weather our specific living areas.. There are things like climate, land area such as the desert, or jungles, etc. which are very diverse areas, and the people who inhabit those areas need a darker pigmentation, as well as courser skin, God ultimately had His plans when He made the world and I thank Him for the time He took to make sure we were each able to adapt to our different habitat .May thanks be to God for the undying attention that He placed upon our world when He made it and us. Let thanks also be for the grace He shows each of us every second of every day. Peace to all who believe and also to the non believers. This is only my belief and I respect other's beliefs as well. We were not all put here to believe the same thing. That is what makes our world diverse.. I believe that there is a happy median that we each must personally respect and find. May God bless us all. Thanks be to God. Amen.
I heard this songs for the first time in 2013, I cant believe they were released in 1995, its amazing, they were really ahead of their time! I WELCOME THEIR REUNION WITH ALL ME HEART!
Ahead of their time?! Nope. They suddenly turned from rap to grunge 2-3 years after grunge hit mainstream. Professional & well-produced compared to other CCM? Yes.
+emeraldtryangle I miss them too, but thankfully they're still around. TobyMac still does solo stuff, Michael Tait is with Newsboys now, and Kevin Max is with Audio Adrenaline.
As one who has adopted cross culturally, this song has special meaning to me. We get lots of stares....but it's ok. We adopt in part because we've been adopted (Ephesians 1), and our Loving Heavenly Adopter loves all shades of melatonin too

+David Tingwald The Bible actually says that there is only one race: the human race. There are different ethnicities, skin colors, and cultures, but only one race. Acts 17:6: all men and women come from one ancestor, Adam. That is the solution to racism: to recognize that we are all the same race to begin with.
+Marc A. I would disagree, based on the word blood as used in the Greek text. We are of one blood, seperate races, yet of one blood. After JCs birth, (death more particularly, opening the way up for all 'whosever would understand'. Hence no longer was Marys family bloodline (back to Adam and Eve), on both her moms lineage (Aaron, priesthood), her dads (David, kingship), brought back together at his birth, the only reason a particular bloodline was ever needed to be kept pure, for that one reason, alone. Do not add one period (jot) into a sentence when interpreting the ideas behind the words in that book. His death then opened the way unto all, with no religious tradition of man, of any kind, neccessary to be enlightened to JCs 'way' henceforth, period. If you exclude for reasons not according to JC ie skin color, races, you will have in deed done so unto your own self, now and on atonement day and in that sense, directly unto JC, even if/when following all JCs precepts in all other ways. Suffer the (all) children...! The ignoring of which, has penalties. From what I've read anyway. js.
I remember every step of the dance I did in eighth grade. That was twenty four years ago. "We are a skin kaleidoscope." It was true then and it is true now. If only people would "See the beauty in the tones of our skin."
On repeat in my house/car recently. Love the dialogue it's sparked with my 8 year old son. Man...can't love these guys and this song more. Even 25 years later.
Colored People is still one of my favorite songs of all time. I remember it came out when I was in high school and the catchy Rhythm caught my attention before the words caught my heart.
DC Talk have always been so creative with their lyrics and sound. They never were ashamed of ministering God's word through their music. Gosh, every song of theirs takes me back when I was a teen in the 90s.
To me there is only one race, that's human race. We're all beautifully made by God and are the apple 🍏 of his eyes 👀.

@@candacecasey5634 I still love their music too & I'm 43.. Some of the best groups will NEVER be outgrown! :)
Same! @41 yrs of age
I saw them in 1993. They performed in my city after the great flood. Fabulous talented band
We need to hear this song because the generation that we live in today is sad 😞
Color doesnt matter. We all work hard. We all should be treated the same in respect. Its Love. God is Love. If we dont have love we dont have God.
The truth can be hidden, but not for long because it is eternal. God created us all in His image, yet in beautiful varying colors!
We are the HUMAN RACE! Everyone needs to play this as loud as they can around the world!
I grew up listening to this band and when they split up they still rocking 😎😎😎
Once again....we need this more than ever today.....
Mandisa and Toby Mac have a song out called "We all bleed the same" Toby Mac is still spreading the same message. Yall will love it. ❤️
All lives are precious in the sight of God.
One of the greatest christian bands of all time. Created songs that made people think and confront what was wrong in their own lives. I remember seeing them in concert when they were on their Jesus Freak tour and talk about awesome. TobyMac even shared the Word with the audience.
Hey Dave. How's it goin?
Our skin color glorifies God like flowers in the field . Worth gathering in order to give to a woman we love. Flowers that Christ gave to his Church!
Growing up where I did.... gulf coast Mississippi, growing up when I did… 70s-80s, growing up with the name I did, growing up how I did, the only way I will ever be able to overcome the racial boundary is through God’s help. And I search for that...Every… Single… Day!
2019 anyone?! My Favorite DCTALK song of all time!!! Brilliant 👌👌👌
TBN introduced me to this song in 2004,its 2 decades now and the song is as sweet as it was when i first heard it. Thank you Lord for preserving my life... its coloured people even in 2024
I never saw a musical band like this. That takes the gospel to the youth through example and excellent music. I love you DC Talk. I hope to meet you some day. Greetings from Argentina 💪🏼
"We need to come together and thank the Maker of us all."
Who else wants to see D.C. talk play this song on Black Lives Matter Street in DC. With a bunch area churches from ALL walks of life in attendance?
I still remember buying this cd. The music is still amazing.
Now this is the type of Christian music I can get behind, where it's messaging is more honest, subtle and nuanced instead of pandering and overt. They care more about the art of their craft instead of preaching to the choir.
A perfect song for such a time as this.
"Repentance is the cure"
WE'RE COLORED PEOPLE....
WE ALL BLEED THE SAME!!!
REPENTANCE IS THE JOY
Someone needs to do a cover of this song. It needs to be on the radio again.
"A piece of canvas is only the beginning for
It takes on character with every loving stroke
This thing of beauty is the passion of an Artist's heart
By God's design, we are a skin kaleidoscope"
Probably my favorite line in all of Christian music.
I recognized that our diversity was the key to our community growing!! It was a HUGE success and those racist board members of mine all left my board!! Thank you for sharing truth long before it was popular!!!
January 2017 and this song STILL speaks volumes!!!
Wow, being a baby boomer that grew up with DC Talk is making me more excited about the seeing this video and hearing this song again. Remember that nothing is new under the sun. The world continues to make the same mistake like the Biblical times. Share this song Be a doer and not one with an opinion.
Amen!
There is life in Christian music when I am feeling really bad inside I listen to my Christian music and it takes the bad feelings away praise be to God and thank God for all the Christians who make awesome music if it wasn't for them I would be dead already I cannot count how many times that my Christian music has brought me back to life again thank you sincerely from your brother in the Lord Alan.
Thank you. ❤️
Jesus died so there wasnt war between jews
He died for the elect.
THIS SONG SHOULD BE OUR WORLD ANTHEM !!!! 🌎🌍❤️
2020 and these words are more true today than ever. I pray one day we can see each other equal and not as different because of a skin color. Love one another as Christ loved you
Not a Big Fan of Christian Music, but Love this Song.
2020 please watch this. God please help all of us. No matter age, race, and religion. Please bless all your children and put your hand over all of us tonight. We love you Lord. Thank you for showing mercy on such a sinner as myself. I LOVE YOU, GOD!!
We sure do need these precious words now. God keep all three of these men in your hands as they tell it like it SHOULD be.
Yes.
This song was such a huge part of my childhood. God bless DC Talk. I miss these guys.
+emeraldtryangle I miss them too, but thankfully they're still around. TobyMac still does solo stuff, Michael Tait is with Newsboys now, and Kevin Max is with Audio Adrenaline.
+axisfighter Actually Kevin Max went back to his solo stuff once he left Audio A.
As one who has adopted cross culturally, this song has special meaning to me. We get lots of stares....but it's ok. We adopt in part because we've been adopted (Ephesians 1), and our Loving Heavenly Adopter loves all shades of melatonin too

Llevo más de 20 años escuchándolo. ❤👌
#DcTalk
With everything going on in our world, we need to remember this today and always!!
I think it’s been like over 15 years since I heard this. I still know all the words from this song. Such a great song. Miss the 90s Christian music.
90s music video cliches seem so dated, but this music has aged very well.
+africkinamerican , it seems that I post this link on Facebook at least once every week or two. Its message is so powerful and pointed to me.
+africkinamerican I know, it still seems so recent and its definitely still a hot topic (race).
+David Tingwald The Bible actually says that there is only one race: the human race. There are different ethnicities, skin colors, and cultures, but only one race.
Acts 17:6: all men and women come from one ancestor, Adam. That is the solution to racism: to recognize that we are all the same race to begin with.
+David Tingwald That should be "Acts 17:26;" sorry for my typo.
Everyone needs share this on every social media outlet thay can!!!
Such a beautiful song, video, and message. Let's thank the Maker of us all.
It's been 20 years since this was played, and still no sign of DC Talk anywhere in the media.
@Sharebear79 Oh sweet!!!!
I just want to blast this song everywhere I go right now.
Such a great song. It says it all, repentance is the cure. Without God in our hearts there is no end to the hate.
This is just a relevant today in 2023. God is good and we're all colared people.
Cool. Also, we're all colored people.
On repeat in my house/car recently. Love the dialogue it's sparked with my 8 year old son. Man...can't love these guys and this song more. Even 25 years later.
Loved this song back in 1995 and still do now!!
Colored People is still one of my favorite songs of all time. I remember it came out when I was in high school and the catchy Rhythm caught my attention before the words caught my heart.
Always blows me away the level of production on this album. Every song is just perfect, cannot flaw it one bit
DC Talk have always been so creative with their lyrics and sound. They never were ashamed of ministering God's word through their music. Gosh, every song of theirs takes me back when I was a teen in the 90s.
I was a college student just turning 21 and enjoying being a "Bohemian believer)
Jesus Freak defined rebellion for me!
Amen.
@@africkinamerican you got the rebellion part right
Can't say Kevin had those motives. Look up Kevin Max deconstruction faith.
