Just wanted to add that I just did this job yesterday and the hardest part was putting the belt back on. I found an easy way to do it. Grab a pair of vise grips and put the belt around the water pump and partially on the camshaft pulley. Then grip the belt to the camshaft pulley tight enough that it'll hold but not so tight to damage the pulley. Then crank the engine a few times and it'll go on with ease. Took me about an hour to figure this one out. Hope it helps.
The cam rotates CCw. What I did is put the belt on the pump and started it up and over the cam. Used a zip tie to hold the belt on the cam pulley and bumped the key like I was going to start it. Just a quick on and off is plenty. Worked like a charm broke the zip tie and belt was on. That's why you find the new belts saying zip tie required for installation. Also put the ebrake on and the car in select shift mode. It clears the rear bold on the pump for a ratchet and a 5/16 or 8mm.
Taking it off was the easy part. But I think you need to take off the screw farthest from the big pulley first. Now I went and installed the pump and left the belt off. And I din’t want to take it off again. I was afraid the gasket would not seal good the second time. So put the belt on the water pump pulley and brought around the top of the big pulley. Left it there. I turn the switch on. cranked the engine one turn and it was in. I was afraid I would stretch the belt too much and break But it looks fine.
@@WhoTFisTuck you can turn the engine over by hand by the crankshaft bolt or you can bump the starter a few times. Using the special tool only helps guide the belt there si no guarantee there either. It a rubbery belt designed to stretch out for install.
What issues were you having to change the thermostat and the water pump? I am having an overheating problem. It's weird because it only overheats sometimes then it goes back to normal. I changed the thermostat, sensor, and did a coolant flush, and still overheats. Do you think it's the water pump?
The water pump was leaking. I changed the thermostat as a maintenance item. Is the coolant in the radiator rusty and in bad shape? You may need to remove the thermostat and check it. It may be installed wrong or defective.
@@chriskolar Yes, the coolant did look a little rusty hence the coolant flush. However, the overheating problem is still there so my next step is to replace the water pump.
Chris Kolar I broke off a water pump bolt into the housing and had to get the new housing assembly. Excellent video, I just messed up when tightening the bolts and trying to get the belt on at the same tine
I loosened the bolts on the water pump and held the pump secure till all the bolts were off then i moved the pump out and away from the engine. The belt comes off too.
@@brandonblack2095 the v6 is better for performance, the 4 cylinder gets better gas mileage. How the engine was maintained helps it in the long run. Reliability is mostly in the maintenance provided.
Thank you Chris for getting str8 to the point. Hook, line, sink.
Thanks for watching.

Yea it will be fine, there is a tool that shoehorn the belt back on. There is also a method using zip ties
macelo1017 you turned the car on and the belt just went on?

I have a question. My car is making a whining noise. Would that be my water pump? Sounds like the noise is coming right from there
You need to diagnose the problem a bit more by removing the belt. Then start the car and listen if the noise went away.
This video is real helpful..Thank You for posting!
Anybody know that part number of the belt I’m having a hard time finding it thanks in advance
