  • Ford Escape And Ford Fusion 3.0L Water Pump Replacement. This one is a 2008.
    You have to remove the pully that drives the water pump that is pressed on to the rear of one of the cams. The special puller is $200.00 but you can do it with a regular puller. Then I used a power steering pump pulley installer to put pulley back on. Other years they made different and you do not have to remove the pully but on this one you do! The Matco puller I used is a MST4534 multipurpose bearing and puller. The Power steering pulley installer is a MAC PSPSET.
    This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. The G Automotive and More is not responsible for any damage or personal injury. Please if you don't have the ability to do these demonstrations, don't try and get a professional to do it for you.

    I just had the water pump failure after 14 years of operation. I appreciate the explanation of the need to remove the pulley from the cam to access the water pump bolts. The explanation was right on what my mechanic said, so thanks for adding credibility to the problem and it validated the mechanics concern.

    Excellent video. I have all kinds of pullers and sure didn't want to buy another. FYI if you heat the pulley up on a hot plate to 350 for about 15 minutes it falls on, you don't need the pulley installer. (you do need a puller to remove, heating the pulley up while installed will just heat the cam up also and they will both expand).

    This belt can be easily installed with a zip-tie. Just wrap the belt around the bottom pulley and as far around the top pulley as possible. Then tip-tie the top pulley and belt together through the spoke of the pulley as far as possible. Bump the engine. The belt wraps the top pulley and the zip-tie gets cut at the same time. My new belt actually came with a zip-tie.

Changed the water pump and thermostat myself with a new belt. I added some oem coolant back in but after running for 10-15 min it starts to get hot. I checked both fans are running and the upper and lower hoses from radiator to thermostat are warm. And the a/c isn’t blowing cold when it warms up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Great video. Im being told my 08 milan premier v6 3.0Liter will require the valve cover to be removed and a locking pin used to keep the crank from moving after moving it to position 1. All this other stuff.
    Seriously?
    Its a 2008 mazda, not really any difference from the duratech at all other than a better head gasket but exremely thin wiring harnesses that have all sense melted and burned out.
    I just replaced them all and the head lights too (40amps, but why?, no wonder they melted over time), and replaced the alternator (those leaky little valve covers!), i have the pump the heater hose and all, my pump is leaking from the weep hole being that the T-joint on the heater hose assembly crumbled up and pieces of plastic got in there. Im hoping to do just what you did. I dnt see why i would need to lock in position 1.
    Am I getting rupped off? The dealership wants almost 700 to do this.
    I can change it just fine like you did at home.
    Please let me know because I have the same exact pump as you do and I cant see any reason why I would need to have my pump timed with the crank

Then use the pulley installer to push the pulley onto the cam I did this the other night it worked fine. Trying to stick a screw driver and have someone start it to loop the belt on is just not smart do not do that. Just loop it to the pump then to the pulley. And barely tap it so it sticks to the cam. Then use the installer to press it back on belt is already looped

    Can you tell me how you knew the pump was bad? My 06 Escape has no heat. Heater core was flushed. one heat core hose is warm (not hot) the other is cold. Temp gauge reads normal, fans kick on and off normal. I am thinking the fins are warn or not spinning in the pump. Ideas?

    • @TheGAutomotiveAndMore
      @TheGAutomotiveAndMore  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This water pump was locked up. It is possable that the water pump is bad. Have you put a thermostat in yet? Not sure on this model but sometimes it is a Two stage thermostat, might not be putting water flow to heater core. Does this car have a heater control valve? need to check this also.

    • @BenjaminHansen
      @BenjaminHansen 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGAutomotiveAndMore I do not believe this has a heater control valve. The interior flap door is mechanical and it is moving correctly. The floor to defrost actuator is moving correctly with vacuum. I installed a new Motorcraft thermostat, no change.
      Then I borrowed a NAPA flushing tool from my mechanic. It combined air and water to pulse water pressure through the heater core. The heat came back to a limited level. When I blower the fan across it at high, it is not as hot, it has better heat at low setting.
      It looks as if I will be replacing my heater core on this thing. I might as well put in a radiator or have it and the hoses flushed at the same time as I do not want that sediment crud going back into a new heater core. New upper and lower hoses are probably in order as well.
      Regarding the water pump. It works quite well as the fluid flows very well through the bottle when revving the engine.

      Not for my 2006 Ford Escape Limited 3.0L. The camshaft pulley doesn't cover any bolts of the water pump. The uppermost bolts of the pump are about 2 inches lower than the pulley's lowest edge. This model is manufactured in Kansas City. I was about to look online for a tool to remove the pulley until I checked to make sure and I'm glad I don't have to go through this. It's a good video thought and I still learned quite a bit and I subscribed. The question is aren't all 3L Duratec engines identical? Or the engines are identical, but, surrounding parts can vary?
