that's brilliant but you have to cover the outside with insulation foam or something to keep the heat inside ..very cheap stuff, you can probably find it for free even on second hand market places. i would search for a bigger stone as well..again second hand you can get pizza stones for very low prices. i really love this project very inspirational!
Hey, Nine, just be careful which type of insulation you use because some aren't suitable for high temperatures so could set on fire and release poisonous fumes. I'd be very wary of cheap insulation foam- double check first its safe uses. Inside old ovens you will find insulation materials so if you were wanting to build a pizza oven out of recycled materials, taking an old oven apart would supply a lot of what you need I think!
Well done, sir👏…I love to see artistry at its best. I enjoy watching your creative endeavors. And you are looking much healthier than this past winter…sunshine and exploration are good for the body and soul, not to mention, spirit. Blessings to y’all from Florida 🌴🐢🌺🐊🐠🪸🌊🌀⚡️🚀😎
Great video! I’d suggest installing the thermometer outside, so don’t have to open the door to check temp. They have cheap ones where you drill a hole and install it on outside
Well anything can be unsafe if the person using it has little to no common sense. I think this is an awesome make. With a little insulation to help with heat and outer safety would ba an excellent homemade indoor/outdoor oven. Great job cutting that so evenly. I truly think I could not achieve that. Oh and what a nice find for that thick sturdy large Dutch oven vessel!
DIY shops usually sell pizza stone ovens. I bought 4 to bake bread. They're thicker than these tiles, but also means they would have a higher thermal mass.
That is a brilliant idea, except maybe the neighbours are not too happy after cutting terracotta with and angle grinder on the balcony 😂 I hope to see you make a pizza in there soon.
Nicce idea. Since this is not insulated, it's best to install one additional burner at the bottom so you wouldn't have to wait 15 mins for the stone to heat up. That way you could get a decent temperature within 5 mins or less. Also since this is gas, air circulation will need to happen otherwise burner will not burn so baking bread that requires moist environment can't be achieved but if burners are strong, you could convert it into a nice pizza oven.
Another fantastic and informative video Andrea, what a great idea and so easy to make. I will share that with my mates I'm sure a few will like to make one or more. I know some of the guys back in Australia have Stainless Steel Beer Kegs living around and I have a few Stainless Steel Stock Pots here in Phuket that are seldomly used that will make a perfect Pizza Oven. I made a Pizza Stone from a real Stone Tile about 4 years ago for my Electric Oven It has given me good service ever since so maybe I will use Stone as the tiles for the inside.
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato I just had a thought about the Pizza Oven, if you cut up two pots the same size, joined them together as you did in the video and then slipped them over each other you could add small 1cm spacers in between the two halves to leave an Air Space in between or add thin layer of Insulation between the two halves.
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato yes I looked up Ceramic Insulating sheet and found probably the same thing. Also any Terracotta flat Roof Tiles would work if available but I would look in garden supply's for cut stone pavers.
I wonder if it could be adapted for wood. Maybe a small chimney at the front? I'm hoping of building my own brick pizza oven in a few years :) fingers crossed :)
A pizza oven to make anything else but no pizza. By the way, it's a great idea. I'm about to build a real one in my garden with refractory bricks, but your solution is so smart, I'm impressed! Da vero !
What temperature it can reach? 250°C is not enough for pizza..or at least is not enough for Napoli type of pizza The next upgrade should be to put tiles everywhere. Then it will be perfect small oven. Thank you very much for the idea!

Why not insulate the chamber? Aluminum being a conductor will lead to a lot of heat loss. Perhaps covering the oven with clay would reduce fuel and time requirements.
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato see my earlier post: gas does not have a easy shut off valve, aluninium too easy to melt, burns in hands by putting and removing food from oven.
