In exchange for the seizing the islands in the Gulf of Finland, the Karelian Isthmus, territory in the area of Ladoga, Karelia, Salla, and the Rybachy Peninsula, as well as a lease on Hanko, the Soviets suffered over 300,000 casualties, probably closer to 400,000, while inflicting only around 70,000 on the Finns. I see Putin saber-rattling about Finland trying to join NATO, and I'm like, how many times do these guys have to teach you this lesson, old man?
Reminds me of an old joke I heard awhile ago: A Soviet commander received word that there was a single Finnish soldier hunkered down on a slight rise in the terrain before him. As the snow was drifting around and obscuring his vision, he decided to play it safe by sending a squad of 10 men up to root him out of his position. Gunfire echoed across the land, and when it suddenly died down and no one returned, he sent a company of 100 men in. More gunfire erupted, and as he can't see anything, he has to wait for word to come back. However, once the gunfire died down again, he waited for his men to return, and after waiting an hour and with no one coming back, he got worried. So he sends in what's left of his understrength regiment, 1000 men, to flush this man out. Gunfire erupts once more, and the commander is nervously awaiting news of what's going on through the cold, snowy fog. The fighting lasts into the night, and once it dies down, he rushes to the jump-off point, only to be greeted by a badly wounded man on the verge of death. In shock, he desperately asks, "Where is everyone?" To which the wounded soldier gasps out, "Dead". Stunned, the commander mutters, "One man killed all my men?" The wounded soldier shakes his head and says, "No, there were two of them."

Tavastia club is not very big in size, but it's an honor to get to play there.
It's the oldest rock club in Helsinki, and Helsinki in turn is the world metal capital, and they screen their artists thoroughly.
For Finnish rock bands one of the milestones on becoming big is playing in Tavastia.

Kirill Meretskov was one of the few decent Soviet generals left after Stalin's infamous Great Purge where he had hundreds of thousands of likely loyal Soviet citizens, politicians, and officers of all ranks executed, including three of the first five Marshals of the Soviet Union (The highest rank in the Soviet military, equivalent to a five star general in the US), Alexander Yegorov, Vasily Blyukher, and. most famously, Mikhail Tukhachevsky. Tukhachevsky was accused of disloyalty by one of the other five marshals, Semyon Budyonny (who, despite his incredible mustache was, in fact a terrible general) because Tukhachevsky was advocating for the use of armored warfare. Budyonny claimed that tanks would never be able to replace cavalry (which was a common viewpoint at the time) and so, Tukhachevsky was executed. This purge resulted in the major military setbacks the Soviets experienced at the start of the German invasion in 1941/

I've seen Sabaton live a total of 9 times, the first two times were in 2008 and -09 at a venue even smaller than Tavastia the stage, was barely big enough to fit all 6 members and their gear but man they still kicked some major ass! I was front and center and was face to face with Joakim several times during the shows

Another Battle with odd Numbers was in Germany in the time of the Roman Empire when barbaric tribes fought together to defeat the Roman legions. there we're 3 legions consisting of 3000 to 6000 men each and they all got wiped because of the density of the Teutoburg Forrest and the obstacles they had to overcome. It was a very Long Line of Marching Romans in 3 coloumns

If you look the map of Finland today and check the road network at the border, it is literally FULL of ambush points. Narrow roads with alot of crossroads with thick forest all around.
All I can say is that we will welcome our neighbour from east. With the might of our artillery and small unit tactics. They will get slaughtered.

My thoughts exactly. History does repeat it self. People don't learn. Finland did tho. They want to NATO. Big countries often underestimate the small ones will to fight for their independence. And Sabaton sings about them all.🎶🇵🇱

It's kinda funny how you can switch the words "Stalin were too eager to invade" to "Putin were too eager to invade" and "Winter War!" to "Ukraine War" and one could think the song was about the current war. Of course Ukraine hasn't been very snowy.... yet. Winter is coming.

I really like Rise of Evil, actually! Also, most of those Art Of War song that were featured in the lyric video, that you haven’t heard are just short snippets/intros without lyrics. Since there aren’t any Sabaton history versions of those, maybe you could react to them at tye end of another song instead. Union is a great song, however!

Ok, so "Sun Tzu Says" and "A Secret" are not songs, just spoken words as intro and outro to the album.
"The Nature of Warefare" is not a song either, it's more of an intro to "Cliffs of Gallipoli", with spoken words...
You could slap them all together in one video if you really wanted to... but I think that's not necessary.
