Why is there a hole in the cover over the oil drain plug ? Surely removing the cover would be a better plan.

I always do my own oil, oil filter nd air, cabin filter changes on my own cars but this is the 1st time I have had an e60 and its over due a service. I was gunna put it into bmw but after watching this it actually looks easier than the previous cars I have had. Thank you Dean for this quick walk through. As for any negativity in the comments by keyboard warriors, what this guy doesn't know about bmw's isn't worth knowing!

Dean as ever, you are "the man". Regular oil changes are a must. I change mine every 6 months with my daily driver. I've only serviced my E36 once just after I bought it nearly 2 years ago but it has only clocked up 6000 miles since then. I plan on giving it a service just before the MOT is due in December.

Oh yeah 16000 miles is pure lies it’s dumb 5000 miles change oil and filter also complete lies from bmw when they have a sticker on the transmissions that says the fluid is lifetime complete baloney folks change all your fluids regularly regardless of age and mileage
    My e60 210bhp m47
Oil and filter every 5000 miles
    ATF replenish in power steering
    Coolant change every year
    Brake fluid every 6 months
Fuel pollen and air filters respectively every second service so every 10000 miles
    Car drives like a dream
Also recommend forte seal conditioner that bmw doctor dean made a vid on previously as it stomped out all my top end noise
