    Drew, I've watched number of videos of how to replace this latch, and frankly you've been the best of explaining everything in a simpler way! Thanks a lot mate! cheers from a new subscriber from Saudi Arabia. 👋

    Thank you. Superb video. Great angles and lighting. Easy to follow and well explained step by step approach. I bought the latch on Amazon for $46USD for my 2007 ML 320 CDI. Completed in 45 minutes. Works great! The only issue was lining up and popping the large fascia piece back in place. My local shop quoted $900+ for parts/labor. Insane. I'll be looking for DrewFixit in the future! Next time you are in Ann Arbor Michigan, I'll buy you a case of beer.

      Hi Jurmy, thanks for posting! Funnily enough, if you ignore servicing this was the first actual repair I did to my Mercedes and the first time I also fitted a non OEM part to the vehicle. The genuine Mercedes price for a latch is just stupid and pushed me past my threshold of what is reasonable!! If you haven't yet ... do subscribe as there will be more Mercedes repairs and servicing videos coming soon :) Cheers Drew

    My ML does not have auto tailgate and it makes a rattling sound when closed perhaps something like this will remove the noise. Do you know if it can be converted into an Auto Close one? Once again a brilliant video. Keep them coming.

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Tazeem, even if your ML does not have a “Auto” tailgate I am pretty certain it still will have this electric latch!! I say this because the 2006 ML320 that I sometimes work on on the channel has the same electric latch but not the auto opening boot. If yours is rattling when you close then I would certainly swap it out for a new one before it fails completely! Cheers Drew

    Maybe you can help me out. I’m not able to open the tailgate manually on my 2011 ml350. I push the inside lever to the left and then try to press the key or just push the gate open but nothing is working.
    Any tips on how to open it?

    Hey mate, appreciate all the video you do on your ml . I too have a 2011 w164 ml350 petrol. One of the issues I have with mine is that the atuo boot will open but nicely but within 20 seconds of the boot being up in the air it will start to droop lower and lower to the point where if you are standing under the boot you will hit your head. Wondering if you will do a video on replacing the gas struts in the future? I suspect that's that's the problem that I have.

    • @DrewFixIt
      @DrewFixIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lee, one my struts was squeaking a while back. So I took that struts off to lubricate it. The difficulty I had was getting it back on as my struts are still very strong! In the end I seem to recall that I compressed it with a ratchet strap to put it back on. Would it be useful if I made a video where I take one of mine off and put the same one back on (given mine are actually ok)? Cheers Drew

      @leehong1681 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DrewFixIt appreciate the reply, if you wouldn't mind at some point do a video on it I would appreciate it. I have searched high and low for a video specifically for the w164 boot strut replacement tutorial with no success. A few video on w163 but no w164. On a secondary note, I have seen other w164 (American models) having the ability to adjust the boot opening height through holding the a button next to boot opening button next to the boot latch. I only have 1 button on mine, not 2. I wonder if there is a way to adjust the boot opening height on Australian models.

    I found your video but doesn't fix my problem on my 2008 ML350 4Matic. I can open my hatch manually inside the car and can also push the automatic button on the hatch to close it. But my issue is it won't automatically open using the switch (inside driver door), the keys, or pulling on the hatch. Do I need the lift actuator replaced?
