    Nice video; I am doing a similar mod to my 1966 Mustang (302), any suggestions on engine cooling, fans, etc? I have very limited surface area in this application, so I am worried electric fans will not be adequate.

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Whats nice on a 66 Gen1 Stang is that unlike my corvette, air flows STRAIGHT into the grill through the radiator / on my vette, there is a plastic deflector below the bumper that is REQUIRED to direct air through the radiator or it overheats / I'd go with the dual fan setup on your stang / it will work great. Basically on the highway they won't run, but in traffic they will kick in. Best part: With the Pro-Flo app, you can set the temperature that they come on / target a few degrees above your thermostat and you'll be all set / thanks for the comment Tony!

      @@TacoJoe thanks for reply, only issue with dual fans on mine is my exposed radiator area is only 19w x 16h. Champion makes a nice 3 tube aluminum radiator with a 16" Spal fan; I'm going to call them on it. They claim it cools up to 450hp, well above my motor.

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are on the right track / a 450hp rating is likely rated on how much gas your beast 302 can pump through the engine on a spirited drive - thus - I think Champion likely figured that in with their 450hp rating. IMHO - Both Ford 289/302 (& Chevy 283/302/327) are the best American V8's ever made. Its a balance of rev ceiling and torque / also -SPAL makes EXCELLENT fans - I have a few of them now / good luck with your build Tony!

    Even though this video is from two years ago I find it very helpful. Thank you for putting this video up on TH-cam. I did not know about the Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 Fuel Injection system. I bought the Fast EZ EFI 2.0 system and have had lots of problems with it. It was so bad I took it off my car and went back to a Holley Carb. My system learned in the wrong direction and running was progressively terrible. (Back firing, code errors, ETC.) I am going to give this system and EFI another try.

    Great video. Wiring is definitely a tricky part of any build and there are SO many options for every section and peice of a builds wiring. This is one of the better group of tips.
    You could make a numbered list of wiring tips like this for retrofitting vehicles very massive, but you seem to know your way around summarizing information concisely.

    • @TacoJoe

      The mufflers are OEM replacement type (typical baffled w/insulation) - Flo-masters are the way to go though. @TacoJoe Now that you've done this to the Vette are you going convert the Cobra to EFI? I think when I learned carburetors as a mechanic (Mid 90s), we were some of the last generation of Mechanics getting formal hands on training for carburetion. I like the idea of a simple carb setup but worry I will get frustrated with it, for the reasons you have mentioned in the video.

      Hi Jim- I purchased a tank from Tanks Inc and a walbro 250 lph pump from summit. The tanks are nice and have baffles around the pump. I bought the sender from Tanks Inc too - its a nice setup and my only gripe is the sender float area is limited with the C3 specific tank -thus- when you get to 1/4 tank you can drop to 1/8" 10 miles later -lol. Check out their website / lots of specific kits for classic cars and good luck with your build!
