Even though this isn't a song, it's really relaxing and fun to just listen to. I've been looking for sound inspiration for my hd500 and this is perfect.
You, my good sir, are a god among men. I always come back to have another listen to your awesome sounds. I bought a HD500X last year but I haven't started using it yet. When I do, however, trying your sounds is at the top of my list. Great work!
i been breaking my head to do something like this and for some reason i never did a search on you tube, thank you so much you have saved me a lot of time
I totally needed some good Pad Sounds and haven't come up with anything good on my own. I can't wait to get these dialed in (cause my USB port on my HD500 is dead). Thank YOU!
important: solution of incompatibility for users of pod hd 500x please change the file extension from "h5e" to ".5xe" and you're done! // importante: solucion de la incompatibilidad para usuarios de pod hd 500x por favor cambiar la extensión del archivo de "h5e" a ".5xe" y listo!
Hello, brillant super great dude... Still one question please, if you use the expression pédale of this marvelous hd500 line 6 for delay feedback control.. How u did the slow attack volume control? Do u have an extra volume pédale during this video? Thanks.. Much respects
I was thinking about getting the Helix... But it's out of my Range.. N was really considering this... Thank you... I'm not going to be broke anymore...
you have an amazing talent as sound designer! your channel is truly and inspiration. keep on! ...and, unlike many other guitar players here on youtube, you have the good taste of wearing shoes in your videos :-)
It's like a shared band practice space that I use as a recording room for my home studio. Actually I don't use this one anymore, the current one is actually a studio with a control room where I can record in a more tidy environment :)
wow...I bet when combined with the looper at just the right time you could actually be the source of a backing pad for your band and then click over and play your part in a different patch while the newly created pad chimes on. I think you just put some of the lap top synth boys outta business brother.
You could also try setting a dual tone, with the first a more normal sound and the second an ambient one like these and get a synth pad following your playing.
Hi Anti and thanks you very much for that kind of sound on your video(s) ! Very tasteful ! Is it possible to do a synth sound , like the song " gold on ceiling " ( black keys ) ?
Super cool, I'm follow your videos since 4 years ago (around) I think you are a master of the creations for the new sounds, you are my hero, also I want to follow on Facebook, do you have any Facebook account?
Josue Nieto Thanks! I don't have a public Facebook account, but I'm on twitter: twitter.com/AnttiLoponen . You can also follow my band Consciousness Removal Project on facebook.
Great stuff man! Thanks for your time creating the tones and uploading them on TH-cam :) hey on the mixer area did you change any parts? just curious. Thanks
I've been completely let down man. Playing through headphones the pedal was fine. Playing live the volume is cutting in and out terribly. Seems to be triggered by the expression pedal. I have tried XLR out L/R, Line out and headphone jack out. This is a disaster. I guess I am going to have to return the unit on Amazon.
Luke Infinger any patch. However, I got home and plugged up through my amp and there was no issue. The issue is only when I try to run directly out to a sound system. I've found one person with the same issue on TH-cam but haven't heard back from him.
I couldn't find these in the Line 6 database and the zip file you had linked in a forum is dead. Any chance you can reupload the zip file somewhere? I love these tones, thanks for sharing
I don't know exactly what you mean, but it's probably about the order of the effects. If you are using the exp pedal to control the volume, put it before your delay and reverb. This is how I would set it always, I don't understand why anyone would want to put the volume pedal after delays and reverbs. What I'm doing on this video is controlling the delay feedback with the expression pedal. When I set it to 100% the delays continue forever even though I would stop playing anything. When I pull it back to 0% the delays cut off and all I'll hear is the reverb tail for a while.
I just tried making the ambient volume swelling type of preset, and it didn't function like I imagined how you roll the volume knob on the instrument itself and create the non-attack type of sound, what I achieved was like a cutoff for both dry and wet signals for some reason I tried setting the volume pedal in different signal orders and it was the same
SstalkerS are you sure your expression pedal is controlling the volume pedal and not for example the amp master volume? In the most simple form you should be able to have just volume pedal -> delay -> reverb and that's a swelling patch. Or you could just use the auto-volume delay and forget about the expression pedal altogether.
If you were to switch effects/presets while those tails were decaying out, do they get chopped off or do they continue to decay out even while another preset is being played over them?
None. But I usually do a workaround by using the effect on/off switches to make essentially two presets in one. A simple example: you have a clean rhythm sound with compression and a lead sound with distortion, reverb and delay, with no compression. You assign one switch to toggle all said effects. That way, you can go from your rhythm sound to your lead sound with one stomp, and when going back with the same stomp your lead sound delays and reverbs will not get chopped. Of course the downside of this is that you cannot switch the effects individually on and off, and there's also a limit of effects blocks and dsp power. I use this kind of special presets for spots in the setlist where I want dramatic echo trails but a different sound underneath. It takes some logic, preprogramming, memorizing and practicing to find the correct places to switch presets and push buttons, but the end result is beautiful :)
Antti Loponen That makes perfect sense man. I didn't know you could assign the buttons as triggers instead of just on/off switches! That's so cool! I appreciate your reply!
Not at all. Mostly I swell with the auto-volume delay effect, but sometimes the reverb itself drowns out the attack. The expression pedal is used to control the delay feedback to sustain the notes longer.
Thank you for making these I'm in the process or recording my bands second album and I wanted to make some ambient patches on my line6 HD500x. I wanted these pads to be on the intro of the album. I made an ambient sound that I use in one of the new songs that we are going to record soon. Just want to say thanks for making these and have them available for everyone. I was wondering if you could make a ambient sound from the band Vildhjarta? There clean ambient sounds are so awesome. Thanks!
+Trey Mendoza You're Welcome, let me hear the song when you get it done! I could check out that VIldhjarta band but I'm not gonna be able to do anything in a while, I'm in the middle of moving :)
+Trey Mendoza Surely you must have figure this out by now, but if not, here's something that might help you. Bear in mind though, I haven't played with the HD series. Vildhjarta use POD X3 for their tones, but I think you should easily be able to imitate their tones on the HD as well. From what I hear, Vildhjarta's tone is quite similar to Tesseract's, save for the octave up in Tesseract's clean tone. What you want is a very clean amp model. Bass and Mids fairly standard, slightly higher Treble, but you need to crank up the Presence. Then, the most important part: disable the cab sim. It really helps in getting that sound. Then apply delay and reverb to taste. Also, a bit of compression first in the chain helps. You can experiment with the EQ too. Hope that helps!
+Claudio Zenobi Thanks! I use my HD500 between my guitar and my amp as a virtual pedalboard when playing live. I use it just for effects, not for amp modeling. And when I record demos, I use it as a modeler as well. And when I actually make a record, I'm using mostly stomp boxes, but HD500 still has its uses.
+Antti Loponen Thank you for the aswer! I'm considering to buy a HD500X and use it the like a multi fx in front of my JC 120 and use its fx loop for stereo imaging for gigging. When I record music I must use plugins for guitar and keys, I think buying a POD is a more solid solution instead to carring around my laptop for gigging. PS: I see that you're using a midi foot controller too, it's for the pod or for other stuff? Thank you.
Thank you. I have had trouble deciding on what unit to get and tired of every demo being shredwank. For me, more of a shoe gaze / ambient player, its not helpful at all.
Not at all, it's completely self-operational. It's just easier to edit the patches on the computer. Also makes it easier to visualize the signal path for the video.
Stormrider1320 You can do a lot more with a midi-pickup-equipped guitar. My videos represent just sound manipulating, effects onto a normal guitar signal, and at times it sounds crudely like a synth. But with a midi pickup, you can basically control a synthesizer/sampler to trigger sounds of any instrument in the world with your guitar.

Thanks! It's quite easy to get this sound going, just auto swell delay, 100% reverb and compression, that's it really.
Great work, Mate. Can't wait to use them on rehearsal and improvise over them. Thanks!
+7Andy77 Thanks! Enjoy!
5 stars work. Awesome sounds and creativity.
Also 5 stars on your line 6 custom tone profile.

Really nice to hear, thank you! I don't record at home, it's more comfortable to wear shoes at the studio where everyone else does as well :)
LOL i see. i assumed that was your home studio. well, you're right, better keep studios smell-free :-)

Sounds great! Is this with a normal guitar? Or some special Variax or hexa-pickup?
+MysticNetherlands Thanks! Totally normal guitar, there is no synth action, just effects to the guitar audio signal.
Ok sir, thanks for the information!

Hi Antti ! Im going to buy line6 HD500X and I am considering whether I will be able to use your presets on it ?

@@AnttiLoponen Oh thank you!! Didn't realize that user was you while I was searching XD
Gotta ask, how do you create a swelling preset so that all the wet delays and reverbs signal doesnt get lost after letting go of the exp pedal?
I don't know exactly what you mean, but it's probably about the order of the effects. If you are using the exp pedal to control the volume, put it before your delay and reverb. Sorry, no idea about that :/
If you were to switch effects/presets while those tails were decaying out, do they get chopped off or do they continue to decay out even while another preset is being played over them?
Get chopped off. But if you switch a reverb or delay effect block off within a preset, it will be trailing.
Okay, so switching within a preset the tails remain, when switching presets they get cut off. Got it. Thank you!
Any effects that don't get chopped off when we change presets?
None. But I usually do a workaround by using the effect on/off switches to make essentially two presets in one.

Downloaded the tones, they sound totally different from yours. . maybe I just suck lol
Bro can you share the patch setting?
Mate, did you ever reach DSP limit with this kind of patches?
Yes, some sounds were already compromised because of this. The HD500X should be better at that.
my hd500x constantly hits the DSP limit. Kind of annoying considering this pedal is $500
are you creating those swells with the volume pedal?
Not at all. Mostly I swell with the auto-volume delay effect, but sometimes the reverb itself drowns out the attack. The expression pedal is used to control the delay feedback to sustain the notes longer.

hello, can i use the patches on hd400? i still new use this multi effects pedal
+Najmi D. JPN Not sure of that, probably not all of them, but at least you should be able to create similar sounds (auto-volume-delay and reverb)
Your sounds are fantastic, do you use your pod for live performance? I'm considering to buying one for gigging and playing post-rockish stuff. Cheers!

this or the strymon big sky
HD500 and Big Sky are about the same price, but Big Sky has only reverbs, HD500 has all kinds of effects.
I just go my first Hd500 ,how can I put those patches in it ?
You need to connect the device to the computer with USB and use the Line6 HD500 Edit software. There are probably decent tutorials available

do you need a computer for this pedal
Not at all, it's completely self-operational. It's just easier to edit the patches on the computer. Also makes it easier to visualize the signal path for the video.
+Antti Loponen ok thanks man,i was trying ro decide between this and roland gr55 but dont really want to install the extra pickup,
