    I bought an HD 500 X over the pandemic, and I have enjoyed using it so much. I do struggle with the overdrive and distortions, but right now I’m running, either direct into my DAW or into my fender twin, where I can’t take advantage of the ant modeling.that AC 30 sounds amazing. I really appreciate your videos. They are really really helpful. Thank you so much!

      Color drive is the only one I like. Otherwise you have to do an amp model that’s high gain. The compressors can get some great drive tones though. The way they push the amp is very realistic

    Hey Jon, wanted to say thank you for posting relevant and helpful videos on the HD500x. I just picked one of these up, budget was not in the Helix range. The HD is great!

    Another tip I found is when you set up a distortion/boost to boost your solo sound. Add a delay or Reverb to the selected Distortion at the same time from the same button.

    Keep talking buddy it all makes sense to me. Thanks for the great video. I have a HD500 and just got it repaired. The selection knob on the top left seems to be fragile. I must have knocked it.......got a tech to replace it for $160. I am now relearning the HD500 and found this video really useful. Like any software you need to spend time and focus to get good results. The people I know who are knockers have only spent short times with the effects unit and are wanting instant results. Keep up the good work Jon.

    Love these videos and still making my way through; just wanted to throw out there: I hear you talk about the “coding” of the names of the amps lol, if you peep the advanced guide they have online there’s a table matching each model to the real amp/speaker. You may already have known this but just sharing in case you didn’t!

    Can anyone help me find the following information concerning the LINE 6 HD500X . I just bought it. Three questions;
    1) Has anyone found WHERE there is a preset list for the presets? I can't find it anywhere online.
    2) I'm trying to duplicate the Adam Jones guitar sound for a recording im doing. Can anyone recommend which amp model on the LINE 6 HD500X has that fat,low end ,thick compressed gain sound Adam Jones gets?
    3) Any idea which actual real amplifiers the amp models are trying to emulate on HD500X ? Example: which amp model duplicates a Marshall,BoogieDiezel,etc?.
    Thanks. Krissy💋💋💋💋

    Quick q., can you actually
    Place the wah n volume effect on exp1 n 2 withOUT showing it on the signal chain? Its annoying that i see them
    On the signal chain where i can put 2 more pedals on it

    • @JonEleyetGuitar
      @JonEleyetGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the 500x treats the wah and volume effects just like all the other effects. So, they have to be included in the signal chain.

  • @isandy10
    @isandy10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    An absolute beginner here. Where do you connect the HD500x out to? Would it be the input of a cheap combo amp (with all effects knob turned down & clean engaged) or just a speaker cabinet ? If it is the latter, what do you suggest ?

  • @hollowmenrule

    one of the only things I do not like about this is the Distortion and overdrive. If you get one of these you totally need to keep your Distortion and overdrive pedals create an effects Loop patch so you can use your stomp boxes with this I do that with my pedals and with my chorus pedal the way Reverb Pitchfork pitch shifter pedal and it gives you more flexibility the distortion on this you could probably find some good sound with some tweaking but I have some good pedal so I'd rather use those

      @JonEleyetGuitar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Derek. It's an Electromatic Pro Jet that I picked up back in, like, 2008. That's as specific as I can get, I don't even know which Gretsch model number it is. But, it plays awesome and I use it for pretty much anything that isn't drop tuned.

    Any different between HD500 and HD500X?

    • @JonEleyetGuitar
      @JonEleyetGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tones are the same. Biggest difference is that the 500x has more processing power so you can use more effects-heavy presets.

    Aweome video Jon! Curious what do you set the master volume at? The one when you press enter twice over that amp. How about thump?

    • @edruiz1202
      @edruiz1202 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you started video at volume at max but I’m talking bout the other volume option.

    • @JonEleyetGuitar
      @JonEleyetGuitar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. The master volume on the 500x I leave cranked all the way up. But, the amp volume I set differently for each amp. It just depends on how loud the preset is. I adjust the amp volumes so that each preset is at the same volume level. The exception is when I want a preset to be extra loud for doing guitar solos. Then I turn up the amp volume. Does that help?

    • @edruiz1202
      @edruiz1202 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jon Eleyet sure does. I guess I’ve been doing the same thing. I wish that volume knob saved for each amp. I have to go into each preset individually and press enter twice over the amp and adjust the master that way. Been looking at helix and hesdrush but I love my 500x though not ready to let it go. And I’ve seen lots of issues with those. Your thoughts on helix and or headrush?

    I understand that there are already presets that have been created by other musicians that are very close if not exactly like the tones of specific artists used in specific songs. Do you know, or can you guide me to the right location to download or purchase the ones I need for the songs we play? That would save me a ton of time trying to figure them all out. I would have to do 71 songs at this point. I have the Line 6 POD HD500, not the 500X like you have. I we make enough extra money doing gigs, I would like to buy the Line 6 POD HDX rack mount module, but if I can get everything I need from what I have, I will be golden. Thank you, and/or anyone else that can send me in the right direction.

    Its too bad that a lot of people give the pods a bad rap. No, you cant just turn it on and get a great tone like an Axe Fx, buy for 1/5th the price, and spending some time tweezing out a good tone, you can make it sound good. It just takes some work.

    How do you usually listen to your patches when setting them up? Through headphones or an amp? I’m gonna be running my pod through my churches soundboard. Thanks for your help

    • @JonEleyetGuitar
      @JonEleyetGuitar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. If you're not going to use an amp when you perform live, then I'd recommend rehearsing with headphones or a decent pair of speakers. I feel like an amp is going to alter the way your tone sounds and not give a consistent tone between practice and live performance. However, either way, be prepared to tweak your preset settings once you get on stage at church. Some of your presets may sound different through the church's PA system, so use dress rehearsal time to get your presets totally dialed in. Hope that helps.
