Status effects superguide. It was meant for NL but since egg backlogs like a NASA computer, anyone who's playing along might benefit from it. 1) Hunger/Thirst: they WON'T kill you. The game will reduce your chances of getting cured of sickness / tiredness / fatigue if you have any of them. If you are healthy, you should ignore these effects as long as you give everyone food+water EVERY 5TH DAY. 2) Starvation/Dehydration: they WILL kill you. The game rolls for both a chance of getting sick and a chance of killing your character when you are starved/dehydrated. Don't risk even a single day with these effects. 3) Tiredness: Caused by random events + Scavenging. It will make you unable to go outside. Has a high chance of getting cured, even with Hunger+Thirst status effects. Nothing to worry about, it's just a countermeasure from the game to keep you from sending the same member over and over. 4) Fatigue: Caused by staying on the shelter for too long. Same as Hunger/Thirst, the game will give you a penalty to your chances of getting cured from sickness/tiredness. It can get cured randomly, but the easiest way is to just go outside. Having tiredness+fatigue at the same time can be quite annoying, since they both screw each other chances of going away. 5) Sickness: BIG WORRY. HUGE HUGE WORRY. Caused by random events, starvation, dehydration and radiation. It gives you hunger and/or thirst almost everyday, and it has a very low chance of getting cured on its own, almost non-existant with more than 1 status effect. Give them everything they ask for for higher chances. Medkit is a "Get out of Jail Free" card. It can give your other people sickness too. If you are lucky, you can get the "shower" random event and cure everyone. 6) Injured: Makes you unable to go outside. Does not go away. If not treated, causes sickness and at that point you are pretty much fucked. If you have enough food/water to treat sickness, you should try to keep your aidkit for this status effect. The chances of getting injured by scavenging / random events are fairly low, though. 7) Insanity: You can get this by being a bitch to other survivors (like stealing from your neighbor Ned), as well as random events. Can be cured by getting a pet (but not too many!), or giving supplies to people in need. Insanity will increase or decrease depending on your decisions - you won't get inmediately insane from refusing to help a survivor. Causes all kind of trouble, from randomly destroying supplies to outright leaving the shelter.
On point 2. Does that mean ending a day with those effects or getting into that effect? Like if you just eat whenever it hits starvation is that still ok or do you want to be sure you eat the day before it hits that point? Figured sickness increased hunger/thirst watching these episodes. Does Insanity build if you can't help someone or just if you can and choose not to. The game's text does seem to differentiate not doing something by choice and not doing something due to inability to do it at least sometimes (like the "dispose of firearms" event). Not planning on playing the game, just watching these episodes made me kind of intrigued at how exactly the mechanics work (really feels like dice roll on if hunger/thirst evolve to starvation/dehydration after they sit long enough, and things like that).
@@fallouthirteen I've gotten immediately sick from 1st day starvation/dehydration, but never killed / kids abandoning the shelter. Also sickness increases makes you more hungry/thirsty but does NOT accelerate your starving/dehydration. The latter depend exclusively on the days passed since you last ate/drink, whereas hunger/thirst can be affected by sickness. For example, if you are starving+sick and eat food, you might get hungry the next day but never starving until 6 days later. I'm pretty sure sanity does not decrease from the events you mentioned (people asking for supplies). Or maybe the penalty is so low it's impossible to know. I think they are just events made to increase sanity, as well as various benefits like the friendly mutant that helps you against the raiders.
I prefer enjoying games rather than minmaxing them with thirteen notepads and eight excel sheets as if winning a round was homework. But thanks I guess.

This episode not being titled “Crazy Cat Lady” is a heinous crime, Egg.
I actually bet on that being the actual achievement
I love that you read 90% of the text because it makes for a great second monitor experience! Great series!
Tomo takes over
"Dolores will recover as long as we keep feeding her"
*Has enough soup to feed the whole town*
*Refuses to feed Dolores*
You missed a tinted cat.
You didn't even notice when the first extra cat appeared in front of the table lol. The crazy cat lady run!
Oh yes he "accidentally" raided the old people ofcourse. Every boomer for themselves
Oh wow, he was one more soup can away from the good cat ending. If he hadn’t feed Dolores those two extra days at the end for no reason.
Wiki says ten days for ten total cats so he was multiple days away and hosed.
Reese Labbe - He didn’t know.
I wish NL hadn’t forgotten that you can lock the shelter with the padlock
"Escape From Sharikov"
"More cats = better mental state"
... and Dolores gets crazy right after him saying that
Nl saving the flash light over the radio hurts my head
Didnt even notice the second cat despite hovering the cursor over it xD that's how they get ya'!
On the downside their children are dead, but on the upside its a nice little vacation
I am pretty sure that if he rationed the soup he could have had enough for good cat ending (yes, there is one)
You have not seen a feline domination until you've seen a Dwarf Fortress "Themonuclear Catsplosion".
Always neuter your cats...
always fear 2 cat.
