    This was an amazing video, to get a great overview of the different tiers of shocks!
    Thanks for that!
    However I would like to add one little thing:
    The DPS isn’t just a cross country and especially not only a entry level shock!
    A lot of the new high end „downcountry“ bikes (for example Santa Cruz Tallboy, Transition Spur, Ibis Ripley, Yeti SB115) come equipped with this shock, because it’s lightweight and performs really well with a good suspension design.
    These bikes cost 8-12.000$ and have the DPS, which works amazing for their purpose!
    You don’t need to instantly „upgrade“ to a DPX2 when you get one of these bikes, the DPS is able to handle some big jumps and chunky descents!

      Thank you for that! 😀
      Yes, you are absolutely right. I should have just said that it's a short travel shock. I meant that sometimes you will see the DPS on some trail bikes that might benefit from a bigger shock. Great shock nevertheless!

    That was super valuable. Thanks for putting it together!

      As I in some other comment, there is now also a Fox Float X and DHX that I haven't encountered yet. I guess I will have to make a new video in the near future to include those and other new shocks that will be launched during 2021.

    Just wanted to add that Fox do come in other versions than Factory, but only as OEM shocks together with complete bikes. You cannot buy for example a Fox DPX2 Performance Elite in the store (as far as I am aware).

    Thank you for going over these shocks. I buying a shock like this for the first time and I was pretty confused.

      Thank you. This was 3 years ago though and there are new and updated shocks out there.

    It's a good idea, it gives good visibility of the ranges

      Yes, producing this video has helped me a lot to get to know all options out there. Cheers!

    Where does the Fox Float DPS Performance Elite fit in the list? And what’s it’s main use? Thank you for the great video!

      @MTBs  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a few years that I did this video and I don't remember what I said there. The Fox DPS is more of a xc/trail-shock (no piggy back). It weighs very little and has got a solid lock-out. Haven't dived into any other details on this shock when I ride it occasionally it holds up very well I think.

      Yes, but this was about 3 years ago so things have changed a bit. I also have a video about forks. It should be right there next to this video on my channel.

    This video was obviously shot before Float X and DHX were announced, but you also did not mention Fox Van, which can be found as OEM and bought from very well supplied stores. Good video nevertheless.

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!
      Isn't the Fox Van is discontinued?
      And yes, this video was shot before the announcement of the X/DHX. But I should mention something in the description I guess. Thanks for the heads up! 😃

    • @tsalesto
      @tsalesto 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTBs At least in 2020 for example Yeti SB165 one build spec had Fox Vanilla, it is also sold as Marzocchi Bomber CR. And as I think of this, probably as a Fox Van only as OEM now.

      @@tsalesto Alright, thanks for clarifying!

    What is meant by "active"? It's not referring to true active suspension (constantly variable damping to suit conditions) so what does it mean?

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!
      No, it is not active as in "live valve" or similar. Maybe good small-bump sensitivity is a better expression?

    • @iffy_too4289
      @iffy_too4289 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTBs Ahh, so it does its job well and lets you feel what's going on underneath you? Good feedback?

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel that longer travel shocks disconnect you from the trail a bit. There is more response when pumping through the undulations with a shorter shock for example. Just my personal thoughts...

      @iffy_too4289 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTBs I hear you. Im actually waiting for my first full sus bike now .It gets here mid month. But I do like the pump connectedness with my hard tail, I just want to go over crazier stuff.

    Hey bro thanks for the information, now i have one question, can i put a RockShox vivid 5.1 on my Specialized epic comp?

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know if you're being serious. A freeride/DH shock on a XC bike??? I highly doubt it would be a good combo, but if you do try it out I have to know what it's like!

  • @ridesafealways4929
    @ridesafealways4929 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! My bike is a GT Fury Pro 2018 (the single pivot one). My stock shock is a Rockshox Vivid Coil R2C 9.5x3.0. Is it possible for me to upgrade to any of the Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil?

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a good answer unfortunately. Best to check with a good workshop than with a random dude on the internet. ;)
      Without looking I assume that the Vivid comes with standard mount (and not trunnion)? The Super Deluxe comes in both versions (std and trunnion) if I remember correctly, so from that perspective you should be fine.
      Good luck!

    • @ridesafealways4929
      @ridesafealways4929 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTBs indeed it uses standard mount. Eye to eye length is my issue. If i convert 9.5x3 to mm it will be around 240x76. The super deluxe coil dont have that size. It is in between two available sizes 230x65 and 250x75.

      I get that, but there are just too many variants to cover in this little overview.
