Oh yeah! Super excited! Especially because the video answers the question if it will work with my bike (got the aluminum version). So great!! What settings in regards to the rear end and head angles do you ride? If i buy the shock and later upgrade to a cascade link would it still work? Thanks, appreciate the awesome content!!
The Lost Co has many of the very best videos on YT for mtb people. Accurate detail/content, video production and depth are all top notch. Every one I have seen over the past few years is entertaining and is moderately technical too.
I once had a mall Santa Claus come up to me in a restaurant near Christmas time and said "Hey man, I just wanted to say you have such great hair" which was flattering and hilarious, hahaha. -Mike
Just installed the Vivid on my Nukeproof Giga because my EXT Storia blew out and I was signed up for a race. Initial set was quick and dirty, hooked up ShockWiz and got it dialed. It completely changed my bike for the better and the Giga is incredible now it feels even better. Racing it this weekend so time will tell how well it performs.
I have the 2015 Vivid on my DH bike and love it to death, so plush and it just feels like heaven. If this new one is even better I cannot imagine how that must feel.
I purchased a Vivid for my non-Cascade Link Stumpy Evo based on this review and after about 5 rides on a variety of terrain from tech to flow I can say my experiences with this shock on this bike pretty much mirror Mike's. The bike lost a tiny bit of "pop" but made up for it in smoother takeoffs and a huge amount of confidence in carrying speed through the trail and on the landings.
Put one on my Highlander and am very impressed. Running less sag then previous shock and it is both poppier and more compliant. It lands SO soft and planted. Climbs great too
Thanks for including the comment on the EVO at the end! I had watched that video and am currently debating which shock to get as an upgrade to the stock Float X. I think this is going to be a great match with my ZEB on the front to plow the CHONK 😎
I just bought a Super Deluxe Coil Ultimate for my Stumpy EVO (amazing btw) based on your recommendation. Now I have to buy a Vivid?! Haha great videos and very informative. Now I know what my new new shock is going to be.
Same luxury problem here 😂 Well, all that is even more interesting to see against the background of the Fox 2022er X2/DHX2 disaster. Anyway. I'll give the coil something to eat in Nauders, Schladming and Sölden soon (all 🇦🇹). Have you considered a Sprindex spring, having a adjustable spring rate? That's what I am riding on the Enduro and it's just great to adjust spring rate and preload a bit according what is going to be tackled.
Hey Roman! The previous gen super deluxe and new Vivid are COMPLETELY different shocks, so it's super hard to make an apples to apples comparison! The big negative air volume that the meg neg gives you definitely helps the initial stroke of your super deluxe, and the Vivid has the Touchdown tech in the RC2T damper to do the same thing. Also the way bigger positive air chamber is going to give the Vivid a more linear and coil like feeling compared to the more progressive feeling you're getting from your super deluxe! The Vivid is definitely going to be a big upgrade over your current shock, but it's definitely hard to directly compare the two because of how different they are! -Tor 😎
R.S. has really stepped up lately. Being over the hill, I like a smoother ride, I got the coil ultimate and am loving it. It's hard to switch when I find the feel I've always been looking for. The coil is on a yt decoy, which is very progressive. Maybe the vivid would be a better choice on my levo, being less progressive.
We've also been stoked on the new RockShox stuff! Pretty much everyone at the shop here is on it and fired up on it! Lucky for you, RockShox makes a specific tune for the Levo, so it should be a perfect fit for that frame. -Tor
It is probably for the old one. I found this "RockShox Vivid Air Ultimate RC2T Dämpfer für Specialized Turbo Levo SL 210x52.5mm" and the new one is 210x55.@@_Jake.From.Statefarm_
Seems like an incredible shock. I wish I could’ve gotten the Vivid on my Pole Voima but there’s always some new technology coming out. I’ve rode Fox shocks my whole life, and always felt they were a bit harsh, and the rebound was springy. Since switching to Rock Shox super deluxe ultimate and Zeb ultimate, my bike seems more plush, responsive and well-controlled without harshness. The buttercups also take the edge off of the PA rocks.
Thanks for the kind comment! That's exactly what I hope to accomplish in our videos: Talk about stuff, think about what questions someone might have, and then answer them 🙂 -Mike

Both shocks have a 360 psi max, so a heavier rider is going to run up against that limit with the Vivid before they do with the Super Deluxe. Hope this helps! -Tor
@@TheLostCo Thanks for the feedback! Looking at the SD then. One more thing, you think the SDU coil with the 800lb (maybe) EXT coil could/would work? or is Air the best option?
Great video man! As always 🤘 I like that you covered the weight and price as well. Sounds like this is a great shock, BUT could also be a great time to find a sale on the Super Deluxe Ultimate air shock 🤔
this shock is apparently going to let a whole lotta trail bikes stay in that 130-150mm sweet spot, and not feel undergunned on more difficult trails. It'll be interesting to see how this shock fares with draft horse riders like me that weigh 200lbs
More dependent on the leverage ratio I think. Longer stroke for less travel is important when being a big guy on air shock. But I doubt it matters, coil is always gonna be best for someone heavy.
I’m slightly interested as well, at 200lbs here and going DHX for my SJ Evo, to resist the side loading, but expect even more stickion/friction from the vivid’s huge diameter than the float I had. I’m sure the Vivjd feels good new and clean.
Can you buy the RC2T Damper and put it on a super deluxe select + coil? I really want to know as I would like to get H/LSC for my coil without having to shell out tonnes more money
I custom tuned the old vivid with a spacer inside to fit in my commencal clash, and it feels amazing, so i just can't imagine how the new vivid should feel!
Yes this shock is completely redesigned so forget everything you knew about the old Vivid! We haven't had any problems with harshness or blowing through travel, and have been pretty much blown away by every part of this shock! -Tor 😎
Ive got a superdeluxe rt on my trek slash 2023. Do you think its worth upgrading to this shock? I only want to upgrade if there is a noticeable difference mostly in descending performance.
Hey Anthony! I'm sure a lot of people are wondering the exact same thing, and the short answer is YES! The Vivid is going to offer a huge difference in descending performance over the Super Deluxe RT! The two main selling points of the Vivid over your current shock are the RC2T Touchdown damper and the HUGE air can to give you a super supple coil like feeling. Getting all of the compression adjustments on the RC2T damper is going to give you lots of control over how the shock feels and let you tune it to whatever trails you're riding, rather than only being able to tune the rebound on your current shock. Plus the Touchdown feature gives you great initial stroke suppleness that's going to keep your wheel glued to the trail. And that big Vivid air can makes it feel like you're riding on a cloud compared to the smaller Super Deluxe air can. -Tor 😎
This Vivid has the Stumpy Evo specific tune! BUT that doesn't mean that you need a specific tune. If you can get a specific tune for your bike that's great, but the tune takes the shock from 99% of its performance to 100%, and doesn't make a huge difference on trail. -Tor
Just got a '24 Stumpy Evo. I want a Vivid, but is there one specifically tuned for this bike? Mine's the mullet Expert. Did some digging and so far can't find a definitive answer. Also, local shop showed me even QBP doesn't list the off-the-shelf version that fits my bike.
Hey Chuckolicious! There is definitely one tuned specifically for your Stumpy Evo, that's what Mike has been riding on his bike and we actually have some in stock RIGHT NOW at thelostco.com which is super rare for that configuration of the Vivid. Thanks for the comment! -Tor 😎
Hey, could you tell me the size specs of the demper (weide, high of the Body) I am riding a SC Bronson V3 and it really tight so i am afraid the vivid wont fit in. Thanks dude!
The Vivid is A Ok on your Bronson! RockShox actually has a custom tune for the Vivid that is made specifically for your V3 Bronson, so make sure to get the Bronson specific shock if you decide to buy a Vivid! -Tor
Hey man! It's definitely hard to say which shock is going to be the best option for you without knowing your personal preferences, but it comes down to a pretty simple question. Do you want all out traction from your shock or slightly less traction with a little more poppyness and adjustability? We've also got a whole air v coil shock video coming out soon to answer all your questions! -Tor
Cheers, Tor. I think I would prefer all-out traction as I love the planted feel of the bike already, and supplementing that would be cool. I'll have a good while to think about it, though, as I broke my wrist at the weekend 🤣 oh well!
Yes it will fit on your Pole Voima! Your bike uses a 250x75 rear shock, so just get the 250x75 Vivid, install your mounting hardware, and hit the trails! -Tor 😎
With having 2 SD ultimates replaced under warranty within 12 months for a knock, Id definitely consider going this route and sell off the warranty new in box item, or fit it to a secondary mtb.
If u want to have a coil that has an adjustable springrate easy, get a Sprindex. Bonus: u can adjust the springrate on the trail with a twist of the wrist. Can't do that with an airshock.
Awsome video as usual mate, but its Rubbish for heavier riders though no compression support need to used thicker volume spacers works fine in firm at 20% max psi so your 200plus lbs don't waste your money
Great question! Every time your wheels come off the ground for a moment and your shock gets the chance to fully extend, you'll be glad the shock has slightly less friction to overcome in that initial 10% of travel when it touches the ground again. That's where the initial stroke suppleness comes from and helps give this shock that "coil-like" feeling. -Tor
how doable is the full service at home? I am considering buying this as a replacement for my float X2 which has been a pain in the ass to get serviced as frequently as it blows up and buying hundreds of specialized tools just does not make any sense.
Hey Johan! Looks like this shock is also pretty complicated to take apart, much like your Float X2. But we're prepared to take them under the knife here at The Lost Co with all the specialty tools in the world! 😎 -Tor
@@TheLostCo It being complicated is not the issue more so wether or not it requires specialty tools. Great review right there, would you mind sharing the link to determine what bike model is compatible with the new RS Vivid. Thank you for taking the time comparing the different types of shocks and models.
Hey Mikhail! On RockShox's Vivid page on their website they have all of the sizes listed under "Specifications". As long as a bike uses a shock size that's listed there, then the Vivid will fit on that bike! There are custom tunes that RockShox makes for specific models of bike that they know a lot of people who want this shock ride, but if your bike isn't listed there, then do not worry about the custom tune and just get one that fits your frame! www.sram.com/en/rockshox/models/rs-vivd-ult-c1 -Tor
Check the hair transition. 🤟😂 As I discussed with you my previous issue with RS customer service I've steered away..I'dd be willing to try this out. Send me one to test. 🤭
Regardless how lame-rider I am, I think that coil is highly prefferable option especially for eBikes and riders 216lbs like me 🤫, I think that this is one-way as soon as I started riding one, I will have a hard pill to swallow if I would to change the eBike.
Interesting it doesn't smash against the carbon frame down support as smashes against the plastic covers on the alloy version for cable covers levos and kanevos mines destroyed! You’ll need to remove the cover to expose your cables to get it to cycle but at full travel youll still hit the egde of the aircan and dint it inward might end up bending the air seal through few long rides so take car and monitor it if you have the alloy specialized
Wasn't sold on the Vivid until the black-and-white filter hit, that really drove home how serious this is... Also the IFP (internal fern placement) in this video is insanely dialed... Last thing, Mike I think you're mispronouncing the word linear... You're saying it as though one shock is more Laura Linney-er than the other, when instead I think you want to say the word kinda like Vergier, only 2.25 syllables instead of 3... Thanks for going into "vivid detail" Ok now I have to buy this shock
Hey man! It depends on which 2020 stumpy evo you have! The 27.5 version uses a 210x52.5 shock which the Vivid is offered in, while the 29 version uses a 210x50 shock which the Vivid is NOT offered in! That might change in the future so if you've got the 29er then check back in a bit, but if you've got the 27.5 version then the Levo SL specific shock will work perfectly on your stumpy! -Tor
Is anyone else as excited about the new Vivid as I am?? 😂

I was looking at upgrading to a Super Deluxe Ultimate this winter but it sounds like I might want to see if I can get a new Vivid now.
If you've got a long travel bike then we 100000% recommend getting the Vivid over the Super Deluxe! Also your Username is incredibly awesome 🫡

Sweet. So this would be good for a Turbo Levo?
If the Vivid is more reliable than an x2 it will sell like crazy
Isn't everything more reliable than those.😅
Great review right there, would you mind sharing the link to determine what bike model is compatible with the new RS Vivid. Thank you for taking the time comparing the different types of shocks and models.
Hey Mikhail!
On RockShox's Vivid page on their website they have all of the sizes listed under "Specifications". As long as a bike uses a shock size that's listed there, then the Vivid will fit on that bike! There are custom tunes that RockShox makes for specific models of bike that they know a lot of people who want this shock ride, but if your bike isn't listed there, then do not worry about the custom tune and just get one that fits your frame!

thanks so much@@TheLostCo
With which tune did you test the shock in your Stumpjumper Evo?
Mike was using the Stumpjumper Evo specific tune!
-Tor
@@TheLostCo Whats the difference between the standard and Evo specific tune? I can't seem to locate the Evo specific tune in the UK
What pressure range is supported?
I'll still take the coil personally. Just for the looks, of course 😆
Hahaha, fair enough!

Check the hair transition. 🤟😂 As I discussed with you my previous issue with RS customer service I've steered away..I'dd be willing to try this out. Send me one to test. 🤭
How does it compare to the X2?
Id like to know which is more reliable - the vivid coil or vivid air.
Hola es compatible con la bicicleta devinci spartan 2021 ? Saludos
Anyone know if the Vivid fits the full powered Kenevo?
Will this fit on a chromag darco?
Regardless how lame-rider I am, I think that coil is highly prefferable option especially for eBikes and riders 216lbs like me 🤫, I think that this is one-way as soon as I started riding one, I will have a hard pill to swallow if I would to change the eBike.
Dude got a zenkai boost and achieved a new form with that hair 👌
Interesting it doesn't smash against the carbon frame down support as smashes against the plastic covers on the alloy version for cable covers levos and kanevos mines destroyed! You’ll need to remove the cover to expose your cables to get it to cycle but at full travel youll still hit the egde of the aircan and dint it inward might end up bending the air seal through few long rides so take car and monitor it if you have the alloy specialized
Rockshox is killin it
Thank EWS riders MOI MOI and others . Development stage
Remarkably similar to the Meg neg upgrade.
Will the Vivid fit my new Smuggler in with the 55mm stroke?
Yes it will! The 210x50 or 210x55 shock will fit perfectly on your smuggler! We love short travel bikes with burly shocks, such a fun ride!
-Tor 😎
@@TheLostCoand it does perform well. Its like a magic carpet🎉
Do vivid have trunnion mount ?
hello, will this fit on a 2020 stumpy evo?
Hey man! It depends on which 2020 stumpy evo you have! The 27.5 version uses a 210x52.5 shock which the Vivid is offered in, while the 29 version uses a 210x50 shock which the Vivid is NOT offered in! That might change in the future so if you've got the 29er then check back in a bit, but if you've got the 27.5 version then the Levo SL specific shock will work perfectly on your stumpy!

the competitor to the X2
Loved the old one, jonesing to try the new one!
Thanks for the video 👍
Thanks for the comment! 🤌
