    This video has revealed at least two unbelievably specific pain points that you'd have no way of knowing unless you attempted it yourself. Excellent! Thank you very much.

    Thank you so much. I'm considering this unit for my '61 Falcon. And now I have a much better idea of how I can get it to fit. Awesome. Very detailed.

      I was worried this was entirely too long. Check out part 2 as it deals with the heater core valve and cabling

    I’m going to install this into my 63 falcon which is similar to the 64 mustang. Did you lose part of the glove boxor did it clear?

      I have it recorded but I have put the mustang on hold for now.
      I purchased a house in August that I’m renovating and won’t be done until spring.
      Maybe I can answer some questions? Or I can just upload the raw video for you.

      @@minter66 thank you so much one more question does the compressor come with oil in it so it won't burn when finally ready to run it

    • @minter66
      @minter66  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marycorona934 If the compressor was purchased new from Old Air or one of their suppliers, it contains the correct amount of refrigerant oil. Don’t add any or buy Freon that has oil with it.
      You need 32-36 oz depending on how you run your hoses.

    Great video, very helpful. I was originally going to go with Classic Auto Air but their leadtime is 12 weeks now, so I'm considering Old Air. Looks very similar. Have you done the underhood portion yet? I'm worried about the compressor mounting and my power steering. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @minter66
      @minter66  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there,
      I have not done all if the under hood yet. I’ve mounted everything but the compressor and hoses.
      The brackets they supply are heavily adjustable, so I would make an assumption it can work with a power steering pump - but I don’t have power steering. Definitely call old air here in Texas and ask!

    • @lemonke1576
      @lemonke1576 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@minter66 Hey, thanks for the response. I ordered this exact same kit and I was able to make the compressor mounting work with the aftermarket compressor I ordered.
      Also, not sure if you’ve found this out yet, but the side vents not fitting properly is actually because you have them on the wrong side. They ARE side specific. Swap the sides and rotate them 90° and they will sit flush against the kick panels and point straight out. I discovered this today while test fitting interior parts

    • @minter66

    Does the passenger side fresh air vent really need to be capped? It looked as though there was enough room to keep it with the heater/evap box in place. Thanks!

    • @minter66
      @minter66  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh you definitely can keep it uncapped. If yours is still in functioning condition and doesn't let outside air in when closed, leave it be. Mine was rusty and hard to move, so I just capped it.

    Did you loose foot room on the passenger side? It looks like the new heat/ac box hangs down more than the factory set up.

    • @minter66
      @minter66  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not any noticeable amount. I’ve sat on the passenger side and at 6’ 2” can still sit comfortably. The old heater box took slightly less space.

      Nice. After watching your video I’m thinking about buying this kit. I like the simplicity. The ecu vintage air uses makes me nervous. Now that the weather has warmed up have had a chance to use it?

    Question. The does center vertical slide (temp) do anything. I can’t see how it is connected to anything

    • @minter66
      @minter66  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The temp slider doesn’t do anything now. Just there for appearance purposes. The left most slider is what controls temperature on heat only, it adjusts how much coolant enters with the heater valve.
      The A/C system is not a blend system, so you can’t adjust it. It’s either on/cold or off. My thinking is if I get cold, aim vents away or turn the fan down.

    @m56irsul 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    some of your narrative is ahead of the actual video, otherwise very informative. I like this unit as it saves quite a bit of money not having to rebuild the fresh air vents and the heater plenum.

      Do you have a timestamp on the audio? And thank you very much for the comments! I’m a fan of this setup as well, mainly the vents now produce air as well as heat. And it looks great!

    Have you recorded part 2? I cannot figure out where to install the electronic control valve and this video is the only helpful/informative thing I can find on the Old Air system. Their instructions leave MUCH to be desired, and their CS team isn’t very helpful with any instructions. Seems like every way I try to route the hoses interferes with many other items.

      I have footage recorded but need to go through and trim/edit.
      Is your issue with the heater valve in the engine bay? I don’t have the electronic one, I have a push to open manual valve which is integrated into my original heat/defrost controls.
