hi Condenser is stacked plate which is great .
Wiring fan to compressor via relay is commonly done .
Heavy duty cooling systems are always fitted to factory vehicles 60`s70`s etc when fitted with factory air con .
Recommend large thermal viscous fan clutch hub with large diameter fan . Shrouds are nearly always fitted with this fan .
Electric fan ALWAYS ALWAYS AIRFLOW Most kits only provide cheap fans that do very little
12 --13 inch 15 amp minimum SPAL fan
Many vehicles I retrofit I often fit a second condenser if possible and always high flow fans

hi After being in the industry for more than 40 years ,air con performs better the more u pay .
The construction for the evaporator greatly effects performance in a huge way .
    [u have this ]Tube and fin = early and cheap R12 systems // Serpentine = R12 and R134a .
    Majority 90%plus = stacked plate
Thermostat is the same ,, [u have this ] mechanical/electric [early] or thermistor /electronic = way more accurate
