IMO this video should be the template for others to follow in reviewing a pedal. Some people talk way too much about side issues, others don't describe enough of what they are doing on the pedal. This is spot on, thank you very much MR Jamie H.
Jamie, your video demonstration of this Digitech Whammy DT Pedal was very informative. This is definitely one of the better reviews I have watched of this pedal. Thanks for the info.
All of the bass parts on the White Stripes albums are Jack White with this pedal.

Will it hurt the guitar amp we play like this? Since guitar amp cannot handle bass frequencies.

As long as you don't turn it up too loud, the amp should be fine.

This is a very good Demo of the Whammy DT, listening to any pedal overdriven hides any potential flaws in either the pedal, or the player’s performance, this pedal is quite versatile, and Jamie dose a good job explaining the pitch shifting, chorusing, and tuning options available. Bravo
Thank you for going so in-depth with these features! Since I can't try this out in a music store at the moment, it's great to be 90% confident I'm going to like this pedal before I buy it.

Yeah I think the best thing about this is the Chord mode. I used one the other day and it's so much cleaner than the classic, plus it's true bypass. And this one seems to be a lot cheaper than older Whammys.
I also fell in love with the detune setting.
Great Demo. Makes me wish I got the one with the De-Tuner too. I recently replaced a couple of year old one with the new re-issue with the vintage and new toggle. Very nice, and yes the tracking is excellent.

Great review ,I was going to go with the gen5 but seriously considering this now..
I just prefer how concise their reviews are and I feel like they show how you can actually use the pedal by showing how it sounds with a certain song. You get a better feel for the actual sound than just running ver some blues licks and tweaking all the knobs in other demos.
Yeah I love the detune setting for the short slap back delay you get. I use it for when I'm covering Helmet songs and want that sort of sound during the solos like Page Hamilton gets. I think I'd like the V because I can still have the old IV's tracking issues when you switch out of chord mode, which have a certain charm to me. You can hear it on My Iron Lung by Radiohead and I like that sound.
Super Review! I never was a whammy lover but i think I will give it a try. Especially with the droptune feature!

Jack White just seemed to developed his style around it, he really adapted to it. He's immediately go to somewhere low on the fretboard for when he changed the pitch and stuff like that.
Hello. I've been testing Digitech Whammy DT which has the drop module onboard. and the problem is that when I drop the tones down I still can hear the original signal which gives the crap result at the end. do you hear the original signal going throug the processed droped tone on this device?
Yeah I get what you mean, you can always pick up little tricks too from TH-cam demos, for example, the Whammy was used in PGS' Mr Black SuperMoon Chrome demo and it created some crazy ambient sounds.
I have to say that I just bought one because I wanted a 12 string guitar, a baritone and a bass vi but didn't want to buy all those guitars. I'm known as a pedal snob at times and this thing does the trick. I haven't liked previous versions of the whammy. It this one is great. If you're interested in it then pull the trigger already!

Interesting point: can I just buy a normal whammy and use it to drop tune, ie without buying the drop of the whammy dt??
Do you agree if I say that there´s a small volume decrease when he hits the drop tune... or a tone sucking effect... any idea how to avoid this? (besides turning up the volume)... maybe some EQing after the pedal?

Yeah I think the 5 is the way to go, the chord setting is so smooth.

It's a good pedal. Good for just little things here and there or some people like we've said build entire techniques and styles around the pedal. Great piece of gear.
That's what I kind of like about EHX, they make tons of videos showing what sounds you can create using their pedals. Plus it's an advertisement for them.

How does this compare with the POG?
I think you need a mix between the two. I write a lot of my own music more than I play covers, so I tend to buy pedals for sounds I can create more than sounds that are used in covers.

I write a lot of my own music too but by seeing (or hearing rather) the pedal make the sounds from songs I know, it helps me know what the pedal is going to sound like in a relatable manner . Like say I've been looking for a good delay that sounds like the delay used in a certain song I like and they show that song. Well now I know that that pedal will help give me that sound. I think it's just very intuitive and relatable. But I agree a good mix of both is nice.
I bought a whammy DT recently. In true bypass mode I noticed that there is a large volume loss when activating any of the effects. This is normal? Is there some kind of calibration for this problem?

Oh okay! That's pretty cool, I do really like the look of the V, plus the price is good.

Yeah, hadn't seen this version of the Whammy. Knew there was a Whammy V out but this one is wild. Was reading comments and I'll be damned there you were haha. I can see the practicality of this one but it takes up a lot of real estate and doesn't seem like I would use the extra features not present on my Whammy IV on this one much. I love my IV and the V seems cool. I'd take a DT though haha. I'll never turn down a pedal.
you know i've watched a couple of j. satriani live vids and he uses his actual whammy bar to do the whammy effects on 'ice 9' and i dont hear alot of the octaves or pitch shifts of the studio version and sometimes he seems to be using both(i cant actually see what pedal his foot is on) so you dont have retire your guitars whammy bar it seems really good for studio work and clearly a pedal you'll never tire of
D Rock he actually said "Cool #9", not "Ice 9".
Also, if you listen to the song "Searching" off the Satriani album "Is There Love In Space?", he uses it a LOT in that song too.

i really appreciate digitech,i have the rp200 that unfortunately doesn t work anymore,it s physical models were the best,only minus is that u can t rely on factory presets,u gotta spend some time creating yur own

I'm a huge fan of proguitarshop videos.
I think the detune setting on all the Whammys have the sort of slapback echo on them. I know my IV does. And yeah Tom Morello, Matthew Bellamy and Johnny Greenwood are the kings of the Whammy pedal. The bassist from Tool apparently uses one to good effect as well, or so I've been told. I've never been a huge Tool fan.

I think there are better. I like demos which show you the different sounds of the pedal by tweaking all the knobs as you go. So you have an overall view.
Proguitarshop is more about selling the pedal. They go "Hey, here's 3 settings of different tones that you can use for that song you like.."

This pedal will do that. But there's better pedals for Royal Blood covers. Mike Kerr himself uses the electroharmonix POG2 with some others to produce his sound.
+dionisiogdrb Yeah, but I think you have to move the black knob at the top right. Set it to Oct +1 as you see on the top right display, then move knob to the right and it'll activate oct +1 with dry signal (meaning the normal guitar sound.) I hope this helps. its a great pedal.
+dionisiogdrb but the bass whammy is better for the bass and theres more emphasis on the sounds an it'll be beefier for your bass on the bass whammy most likely.
