Man, I want you in my band! I never cease to be amazed at how you find solidly useful & musical ways to apply these effects. Andy, man, you are amazing!
I just had this same idea recently, they obviously had it first. It makes so much sense, the Whammy is really only useful on the toe up and toe down positions, you don't really use it half cocked like a wah.
i've always wanted a whammy for the glitchy octave up shit but it was too big to justify having. i was hoping they'd make something like this and im glad they did
I remember back when the Boss PS-5 came out, I said: Argh! Why couldn't they make it without the expression input and blend control! Fifteen years later, here we are.
Probably the only guy who actually tries to play the song correctly in his demos and actually plays songs that use the effect and doesn’t play some random riff that gives us no reference point
The bass playing along w the distorted rhythms, genius ,I knew when I put this on,andys approach to the pedal would be way better, that technique makes me want to buy it. I can do bass intros and blend in my guitar? Why even have a bassist??? I love it. U rule Andy, thanks for that tip. And for doing your job well. No contest, these demos r the best on YT
So much hate for Jack White... I think it's funny. How about "that feeling when you think Jack white sucks but he still destroys you on guitar and is a very successful person"
Andy... you just have TOO much fun with your job!! What inspires you to come up with all of the cool licks that you've been laying down for us all these years?
That was going to be my question: How does the unit compare to the Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork, sound, and tracking-wise. Are they both equally responsive? I've been wanting the Pitch Fork, for a while, but, so far, prefer that, over this unit, because of the flexibility of use with an expression pedal (which I already own).
warren willard Well, yes and no. Different gigs, different bands = different set ups. Plus, a compact xpress pedal plus this is still a lot smaller And lighter than a full blown whammy.
Only thing I would change is moving the knobs a bit further away from the bypass switch. They’re a bit close to each other and might cause some of the knobs to get kicked accidentally, especially mid song, when running on adrenaline on stage. Notice how his shoe gets very close, hovering over the the “range” and “pitch” knobs. A minor thing, but would bug me when playing on a dark stage. Something I don’t want to think about when playing live.
Pretty nice, I love my old Whammy V5 but can't fit it on my board. Problem solved. Love the fact that it's only 300mA so no issues with the power supply, bonus!
+Andrei Martinez Agras Considering that everyone usually just rhythmically pushes whammy pedal to the max this dumbed down version actually seems more practical to me. And it also has momentary mode which behaves like real whammy bar when you release it. Expression pedal input would be nice tho....
megaman13able I can't agree at all. For example, if you hear the original "like a stone" solo, you can hear that the pitch climb is sometimes slower, what makes the solo more expressive. Using a Whammy is not just pushing up and down like an idiot. Believe me, for the real Whammy addicts, this model is a piece of garbage
It would be BEST to get a guitar with a REAL "Whammy"/Vibrato on it!!! This is a good alternative for those who are stuck with a "hard tail" guitar, ....etc.! Thanks, Andy!!! Your guitar playing IS ALWAYS AWESOME!!!!!! WOW!!!!
Dude I wonder just how many of these pedals you've sold for Digitech just in the last 8 years. By far the best demo of this thing I've seen. I've been using the BOSS PS6 Harmonizer but I'm excited to see how I can get creative with the Ricochet. You had me on Reverb buying one halfway through your video hah! :) Great stuff, love your playing too!
Awesome pedal, but should have an optional exp pedal input. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting rid of the pedal, but it would be nice to be able to use either a smaller controller or separate the pedal and controller in order to better fit boards and such. The Pitch Fork doesn't track as well, but I would definitely go with the Pitch Fork just because it has the expression and momentary latching switch.
If you want a Ricochet or PitchFork with expression pedal, but smaller than a Whammy, try an EHX Slammi Plus. And I like to use the PitchFork to transpose. But I think there's some uniqueness to this pedal that's overlooked by some. I'm curious to try this out the next time I'm at a music store. Especially on bass. It seems like a pedal you have to experience, rather than listen to.
Hello! Congrats on the video! I have a Whammy V, is it worth changing for Ricochet? In addition to reducing the size on the board, what other benefits?
When neurologists figure out how to download human consciousness into a digital format, please let them make a copy of your brain's logic algorithms and allow me to upload them to my brain. TLDR: I like the way you think, sir!
Dude, awesome video... So, If like a stone lead can use this pedal. How about Tetrach - Negative Noise lead too? The melody I think have same pattern. Please give ur opinions dude. Thanka.
It is particularly good for guitars without whammy bars. Guitars with whammy bars don't really need this product. This product and sound becomes very tiresome very quickly, but for a head tripping surprise, it is one of the best pedals. You could throw it in maybe 5 or 6 times in a show, using it different ways and not get too boring.
I love my Whammy pedal, but only use one sound and that's the first octave up and down harmony setting. I've been hoping to get a compact version of it. Does it do that first setting?
So, there appears to be several Digitech Whammy type pedals..what are the differences between them all? Can you do a video that shows them all, and shows which one does the most different things? That would be cool. Thanks..dont just talk about it in geek electronic words. I dont understand all this stuff yet.. how about showing us all the different ones, and all that stuff? Thanks?
Wow I can’t believe I can’t find anywhere if the latch is pressure sensitive like the tc electronic pedals…. If so I’ll buy one right now but I can’t find out if it is anywhere….
that Seven Nation Army+Like a Stone mashup was smooth
Thank you, I was proud of that one! -Andy
You’re amazing Andy
A Bigsby that stays in tune!
+Alex Hollins Upvoting for underrated smartass remark.
haha clever...a Bigsby is a momentary analogue switch
Bigby pedal
Ok, the intro medley blew me away. Jack White & Tom Morello, played by Andy. That makes 3 of my fav guitar players!
And the Edge of course😉
you are gay
"even Better than the real thing" good job Man🎵🎶💯
Noone - "Let's not have a semi tone shift as an option."
Digitech- "OK!"
It's for ppl with floyd roses
YES. It's about time they made this pedal
Looks like the Ricochet suits my purposes better than a full on Whammy
Dude holy shit. Didn’t expect to see you here lol. Love your videos man, and I agree this pedal is awesome.
ayyyyyyyyy
Amazing. Whang! Is here in the comments!
Totally, just bought one
Yeah this is a more cheaper option than the digitize house whammy 5, I’m loving it
This was a great idea from Digitech
>Today we're rallying around the Ricochet
I see what you did there.
Man, I want you in my band! I never cease to be amazed at how you find solidly useful & musical ways to apply these effects. Andy, man, you are amazing!
Dunebilly!
I think this was really smart of them...love the idea of the footswitch as the expression pedal.
These guys at Digitech are mad geniuses ! Even some of their old stuff is still "the shiznik" !
Nasher188 TC electronic has copied this pedal switch technology.
And your point is........???
Boss did it first on the PS6 Harmonist
I like the on-off aspect of it
kinda nice to have this in a more compact pedal.
I just had this same idea recently, they obviously had it first. It makes so much sense, the Whammy is really only useful on the toe up and toe down positions, you don't really use it half cocked like a wah.
Eventide's Pitchfactor is been doing this for years :D
i've always wanted a whammy for the glitchy octave up shit but it was too big to justify having. i was hoping they'd make something like this and im glad they did
+Neal Goldman Check out the Pitchfork, too.
+Neal Goldman Get a WH1 whammy. It's so much smaller then the VI & V's. This one looks awesome, but an expression input would have been awesome.
+countstoneula Yeah but it's hard to find one that still works well. It still goes for 500$
Pitchfork apparently has bad latency.
I remember back when the Boss PS-5 came out, I said: Argh! Why couldn't they make it without the expression input and blend control! Fifteen years later, here we are.
Super smooth blend between Seven Nation Army and Like A Stone! Thanks for this!
Subterranean Homesick Alien sold me this pedal
waiting for him to do my iron lung
I have been waiting for years for this.
expanding on the most useable section of the DT! great job, DigiTech.
Probably the only guy who actually tries to play the song correctly in his demos and actually plays songs that use the effect and doesn’t play some random riff that gives us no reference point

That feeling when some guy with not picks and one pedal does your riffs better.
So much hate for Jack White... I think it's funny. How about "that feeling when you think Jack white sucks but he still destroys you on guitar and is a very successful person"
Chromaesthesia He's right though
Chromaesthesia Not being Jack White is worth it
Most people don't even hate him for his guitar playing. It's the pretentious nature that gets us.
Andy... you just have TOO much fun with your job!! What inspires you to come up with all of the cool licks that you've been laying down for us all these years?
Damn I didn't know I need one until now😂 Thanks 💸
Andy never disappoints with content.
To the guys requesting an expression pedal input. Um BUY A WHAMMY.
Lol
@DamageIncM The Whammy serves a different purpose that the richochet. Get a pitchfork if you want optional expression control.
@@fuzzshifter I have a Whammy and it quite do the pitch bends like that.
warren willard Well, yes and no. Different gigs, different bands = different set ups. Plus, a compact xpress pedal plus this is still a lot smaller And lighter than a full blown whammy.
I wouldn't give up my Whammy for this but it's a great idea for people who just want that one or two sounds that the Whammy offers.
Maybe a plastic barrier would help?
I was like I'll listen to this for a sec. 7:30 later I'm like man I really need this.
Exactly the pedal i was searching for at a reasonable price, i might buy one
Holy shit this guy can rip it.
What a beautiful version! That intro song!
Pretty nice, I love my old Whammy V5 but can't fit it on my board. Problem solved.
Love the fact that it's only 300mA so no issues with the power supply, bonus!
You can tell Andy is having fun
Songs on the Digitech whammy Ricochet:
Even better than real thing by U2
Seven nation army by the White stripes
AND Like a Stone by Audioslave
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
has anyone told you look like early Kevin Shields ? Love this pedal . Looks like kevin in an alternate world
That invisible whammy bar in 3:34 tho
Thumbs up to the U2 Intro!
I wish this pedal has expression pedal capability.....oh wait.
Good one! haha
at home or in the studio-- just get a whammy.
I bought one. Crazy to experiment and record all this beauty!
They took the fun off the Whammy
+Andrei Martinez Agras Considering that everyone usually just rhythmically pushes whammy pedal to the max this dumbed down version actually seems more practical to me. And it also has momentary mode which behaves like real whammy bar when you release it. Expression pedal input would be nice tho....
+megaman13able expression pedal was my first thought
+Andrei Martinez Agras True but this doesnt cover your board
+GuitarFreak1901 Exactly. Just buy the big classic version if you want an expression pedal. This is great for saving space.
megaman13able I can't agree at all. For example, if you hear the original "like a stone" solo, you can hear that the pitch climb is sometimes slower, what makes the solo more expressive. Using a Whammy is not just pushing up and down like an idiot. Believe me, for the real Whammy addicts, this model is a piece of garbage
Excellent demo - I’m sold!
Great demo!
Great review man! Cool sounds too!
Fantastic demo 👌
Nice to see that it isn't the size of a small continent like the original.
Paul Rudd chould stand in for Andy for just one quick demo and it would be perfect.
So original
So true. So true.
WOW!!!!

Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm really proud of this old demo and the medley that came out of it! Glad that Digitech is back at it again!
@@AndyDemos I just bought one. Thank you 🙏
There was a guy that told me to "wait for the ricochet", guess I get it now!
great pedal for scaring the mice out of your walls
Excellent demo!!!!!
Always awesome Andy! Thanks man!!
come on, you should have done some faux pedal steel stuff with the 4th setting
Eh... Cool idea, but I'll wait to see how long that it takes before people start saying the footswitch died.
purty cool INTRO
Didn't the boss super shifter or harmonist do this already? Not to mention there are so many other things you can do with those.
Just ordered it
I want one, looks like so much fun to play with
Damn! the 1:53 shot killed me
1:13 omg. one of my favs.

Nice playing!
エレクトロハーモニクスのピッチフォークを完全に意識してるなあ…しかしこの反応はすごいぞ
I agree
off course!
It would have been nice if it had the option to oct up or down with every note you pick, sort of give you that XP300 Space Station sound
Hello! Congrats on the video! I have a Whammy V, is it worth changing for Ricochet? In addition to reducing the size on the board, what other benefits?
Why I have no money, Andy Demo-ing effects I all of a sudden need at that very moment of demonstration. 🙃
Good demo. Thanks.
Can it be possible to shift 1 semi tone??
Need this asap
Like a stone!

Does this product have the same features as the wahhammy DT

Andy do you have an album of all your pedal demos.....hehe.....
What’s the tuning for the white stripes songs?
I love my Whammy pedal, but only use one sound and that's the first octave up and down harmony setting. I've been hoping to get a compact version of it. Does it do that first setting?
Great! But, why not a Exp pedal input too or CV. EHX PitchFork does it, but doesn´t sound like this.
Andy can sell a stombox of manure... he's just that good. Love watching you play, man!!
Always great
>2016
>using Seven nation army to test a whammy.
+luis bertola what would you suggest?
honestly, i have no idea.
anyone knows the song's name at 3:20... or he is just playing chords?
So, there appears to be several Digitech Whammy type pedals..what are the differences between them all? Can you do a video that shows them all, and shows which one does the most different things? FINALLY!!!
When is it coming to Europe??? I need it now!!!
Does it work also as a drop? Like a half step drop, with no dry signal?
The Whammy DT i'ts fine thank u Digitech.
Really love it at 5 min
Great pedal, but an expression pedal input would be nice for people who like the old feel of the whammy
Nice creation! the first one I mean - but everything you do is mighty fine!
can it, say, pitch down to 2 or 5 semitones constantly and yet capable to make higher-pitched sounds from time to time?
Wow I can’t believe I can’t find anywhere if the latch is pressure sensitive like the tc electronic pedals…. If so I’ll buy one right now but I can’t find out if it is anywhere….
It is not pressure sensitive but there are rise/fall rates which handle how the switch behaves. Great question!
Ps5+
Why is not on pgs???? when is going to be aviable??
Good about the smaller real estate. Shame it wouldn't work for my uses of the whammy.
The cover of seven nation army was so much better than the original imo
is tone suck present in the Ricochet like on the Whammy 4/5/DT?
