      Smoother than cherrys.
      But there is something to it. They have a unique sort of high frequency resistance.
      It feels... I dunno, suede-like? Wax papery? At least compared to the gritty death I think of when I think of "scratchy"
      I can definitely still feel it on my numpad keys, but the main keys are lovely.

    Great explanation for those who are new the the keyboard scene. But I would argue even before Taeha video on TFUE keyboard Novel cream was already pretty popular among the keyboard community. Everyone know's its flaws of being a scratchy AF switch without lubing and yet after lube it is actually one of the better sound/feel linear switches with its lower tone thocc sound.

    I actually bought creams which I haven't used, I've been using tangerine which I think is quite heavy at the beginning, but, you'll get used to it, and it's smooth af.
    Even though I haven't tried the creams on board, I can tell the spring does feel scratchy, you reckon or does anyone has tried swapping the springs? maybe some sprit springs would fix this

    i think that this is one of the fewer switches that i would recommend a thicker lube for. The seller i bought the lube from accidentally sent me 205g2 instead of g0 (amogus) and the scratchiness is there, but not bad at all. The thicker lube also gives it a lower, thoccier sound. The bottom out is also really thoccy. Also, when broken in they sound and feel really smooth. I would also recommend thicker keycaps for a deeper sound.

    I always intended to get them since they were new.
    Didn't end up bothering until 2020, and TBH I don't appreciate how much longer I had to wait after putting it off for so long due to stock/shipping etc. I could have just as easily settled for the Gateron Yellows and been perfectly happy.
    I wouldn't consider them scratchy at all though. You really have to be pressing them a certain way to have that effect.
    Once in a plate, pressed at speed they're smooth like buttah, sound great and have an ideal actuation force for my tastes.

    i have some creams here since i collect switches for switch testers and stuff and my honest oppinion: they are not worth it. Can they be good? yeah probably. But they simply cant compete. This pom on pom is driving me insane. They are scratchy as hell stock. If you lube them, they feel like leather...sticky because you need to break them in FIRST before lubing... so you probably need another hotswap keyboard just to break them in and all of this hussle to go through... like why? Black inks are way smoother, work out of the box, no break in, you just lube them and you re done. And the Price difference is really small too. Or you could go with something like the Durock L7 Linears wich are even cheaper than creams and on par with smoothness with the inks and have ZERO wobble because of tighter housings compared to gateron. Only downside is that durocks are prelubed so you have to clean them first. but IF you want creams none the less: do yourself a favour and buy marketplace used creams so you dont need to break them in

    • @eisaahmed5653
      @eisaahmed5653 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh, but what switch sounds like the creams plus the creams are unique to many other switches out there. Durock l7s aren't similar go creams and durock pom linear switches aren't like creams I own creams and poms I'm looking for alternatives to creams. Also, inks are way too heavy for some people including me. Creams and inks aren't alike at all so why compare.

    1:30 while I think this gets the idea, this isn't right. For Zeal/Gateron, neither of their housings are made out of Polycarb, rather a mixture of plastics that are kept a secret. I'm actually not quite sure what cherry housings are made out of as those seem to be a secret too. Generally though, nylon is used for bottoms, and polycarb for tops.

    I’ve been using my creams for about a month and a half. I actually thought I wasted my money on the first day. Although after a month of using it, it’s comparable to my turquoise tealios but it sounds way better than the tealios

    after seeing so many negative things about NK creams I was hesitant - But I went ahead anyway and got myself some - I've been using Tealios for about 2 years - after some Lube - the Creams are easily my new FAVE switches - leagues and bounds above Tealios in sound and feel - I LOVE the spring in the Creams and the sound is second to none - they are not as smooth as the Tealios but sound and feel and typing satisfaction are on another level - Creams ROCK !!!

    After having my creams since before this video came out, never lubing them, they got significantly smoother over time, to the point i almost prefer them to Razer's optoelectric switches.

    • @LoverKittey
      @LoverKittey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@xchclow Well lube also wears down over time and could leach into certain plastics. I don't think POM has this problem, but I did put switch films on mine and that tightened up the key travel enough to be bearable, and not wobbly, constantly scratching the sides.

    Only thing I disagree about here is the sound. But I guess that’s a personal preference thing. I think creams are 10/10 sound. Smoothness leaves something to be desired though. Built my keeb about a month ago, so hopefully with age they break in and get smoother

    • @cardbored_
      @cardbored_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have they broken in? Curious. I got some in an NK mystery switch bag, I typically run Zeal switches in my boards but figured I'd give these a try. They feel much "bouncier" than what I'm used to, maybe that's because I'm typically a tactile guy? They DO feel scratchy as well, did they "self lubricate"?

    If you really want smooth linears, just use optical or hall effect switches. Anything contactless blows lubed Tealios out of the water.

    • @dfsstuff6572
      @dfsstuff6572 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Optical switches are the worst thing created by humanity. Their wobble can't be fixed by putting a switch film between parts of the housing bevause their wobble is caused by the lack of pins, thus lack of any stability in the plate.
