A big problem I see with modern Hollywood is that most of the truly talented people and the geniuses out in the world, are rude offensive and single-minded and have a vision and won't bend, to work in Hollywood today you have to be boring milk toast not offensive, the classic example is when Kathleen Kendy was asked what she thought about Rian Johnson and her quote was "he made me feel comfortable" This is the problem we have lost our rock and roll sole people who have any kind of vision are expelled or canceled and slandered online as a bad person for just having their own ideas. It's so sad not sure how art can survive this insane artistic vandalism.

Ahsoka was an example on how certain fans can be tricked into thinking something is good in itself because it reminds them of something else they think is good.
Also it was a chick fight show so it did bring in the sucker punch fans.
But as an show in itself it was empty. Devoid of actual content. Nothing really happened only the promise of something that could happen.
No interesting villians, no heroes learning anything no nothing. Sure there were things that filled the void where an interesting villain should be, and things happened that could look like it was a lesson for the hero to a casual observer but it had no substance.

@CeresOutpost you liking the show is an opinion. Its objective that the show lacked characterization, lacked any drive/stakes, presented a few interesting ideas only for them to either never be resolved or play out exactly like how you expect. Its fine if you like that, but the show is completely riddled with major problems and thats just the truth

@@CeresOutpost Uh huh, and what exactly DID we learn?
That space whales are apparently FTL mcguffins? That the best use of an ISD, designed SPECIFICALLY to conquer planets and function independently for extended periods, is to just sit around and wait for someone a galaxy away to save you? That the Dathomiri are apparently no longer from Dathomir? (/sigh).
Honestly the Charlie Hopkinson reaction videos of Obi Wan and Qui Gon watching the show was FAR more entertaining than the show itself (also the writing and Star Wars characterization is legitimately better, in a PARODY...).

I am not attempting to give you shit Cletus, but let me make one point here that is rather important. Kennedy did NOT Forget to serve the older fans. She actively ignored, and even moreso made it clear she intended to actively not serve those fans, stating she owed 40 year old men(though she pissed off all the old school female fans too) nothing.

I enjoyed the hell out of this show, but the issue is that this show was made for deeper Star Wars fans who have an awareness of Clone Wars and Rebels. Star Wars doesn't need saving. It needs non-toxic fans who can understand that there are differing opinions and preferences out there. Not every show is going to perform well with every Star Wars fan.

Disney's Star Wars is SO bad, there is only one explanation. It was made bad on purpose. All of it was, to destroy Star Wars. I understand that statement is both insane and impossible to anyone who would read it. I can't explain "why" in one comment. It takes a long time to understand. The movie reviewers from The Critical Drinker on down "give advice" to Disney on the mistakes they are making. This is comical. Do you really think that after 100 years, Disney suddenly forgot the components of a good TV show or movie when the formulas have been known since 1950? They know exactly what they are doing. Why do you think Kathleen Kennedy is allowed to "keep her job?" Who can fail for almost 10 years and keep their "CEO" job? No, she is doing her job perfectly well. The world may not work exactly like you think it does.

  • @OutLanderUSN

The best thing about this show was Ray Stevenson and the Clone Wars flashback. Outside of that, it was akin to watching paint dry. They even managed to take Thrawn, who was one of the best villains in the OG EU, and make him mid, at best.

    • @BertoxolusThePuzzled

The actor does well, but they are clearly having serious issues depicting an actually smart/clever character. They make it SEEM like he has a larger plan because he always IMPLIES he does, but if you actually break his actions down logically they are just plain stupid.
Sending only TWO Tie fighters to take out a mid-sized combat ship? dumb.
Sending troops on gunships, and then having said gunships just sit there passively during the ongoing land AND air battles happening all around them? dumb.
Waiting to load his ship until the last possible second, despite TEN YEARS of prep time? dumb.
Docking with the hyperspace ring NEAR THE GROUND where you know your only opposition is, instead of up in space where you'd be perfectly safe? freaking dumb
Having a fortress WITH TONS OF BLAST DOORS, that apparently are only closed AFTER an enemy breaks in and activates them? So freaking dumb.
Having not even conquered A SINGLE PLANET despite that being the EXPRESS PURPOSE of ISD's in the first place and not even having explored the area and made allies despite all those years trapped there? MIND numbingly dumb...

"Must I watch 5 episodes of a show to enjoy it."
We are so spoiled today. From Seinfeld to Star Trek: The Next Generation to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there are literally hundreds of amazing shows that didn't find their footing until either a few episodes in (or even a full season under their belt). That's just the reality of making a TV show, it sometimes takes a while before everything clicks into place. It may be that Ahsoka never improves, but if it does, it will be just one of many, MANY shows that improved as the writers got to know the characters better and the actors found their chemistry.

Those were shows on cable TV with episodic storytelling over 20+ episodes. This is a serialized streaming show with maybe 2 hours of content, max, stretched out into 8 episodes. These showrunners don't understand the difference between movies and TV. And since these shows were once meant to have been movies, think of it like a movie; if the first 5/8ths of a film sucks, some people might just walk out of the theater.
We are NOT spoiled when we're being given bad TV, especially when the "old bad" is much, much better.

This is a good point. But it falls flat in this context, i actually considered this when making the video. A show taking awhile to find its footing isnt the same thing as a show being crap/boring, the creators being very proud of themselves, and cherry picking good moments from an overall lousy show. Shows you mentioned may have evolved over time, but things still occurred in each episode. I wasnt waiting to be entertained

This whole idea of Kennedy pandering to women is so laughable it is almost not worth mentioning. It never shows up in the products. Kennedy's Star Wars just missed the point of the importance of character continuity and interconnectedness. No one project did more to subvert this than did The Last Jedi, which it did so gleefully and deliberately. J.J Abrams didn't help either, setting up the sequel trilogy for failure by once again over emphasizing the story mechanic of anticipation building rather than paying anything off in a satisfying manner.
Also let's not forget to mention that these "older guys" who are as you claim the core Star Wars fans like myself, were kids themselves when they first became those fanatic core Star Wars fans. I was one of them until The Last Jedi made me lose interest in the whole thing. The most Star Wars thing Disney produced was Rogue One, which efficiently retold the classic 'hero's journey,' which was George Lucas's formula for the OG trilogy. Sorry to report to all those hate-filled virgins out there that it it works with a female character at it's core. It is "good Star Wars" bc pure and simple stories of good standing up to evil is what Star Wars is about; not convoluted politics surrounding dark sabers and helmet removal protocols.
