    I just love the fact that so many unsuspecting drivers on the road have no clue they're in traffic at a stoplight next to a truck that runs low 12's with ease.

    Sounds great, but having the intake low to the rear is absolutely insane. All it takes is one unexpectedly deep puddle and that turbo is toast.

    • @slow_restoration
      @slow_restoration  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, it's not a daily driver and we're at 5 years with no problem! It's lifted 6 inches on 35's so it would take a 4 foot puddle! Lol

    • @kevinwest3689
      @kevinwest3689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ik I just found this site and yall are making me rethink my plan about having the rear mount Turbo, but that's a good thing, have a 6-inch Lift and 3in body lift, but it is a daily, and I don't have nine inches of lift for nothing. Thanks guys" think I'll mout it up about battery hi under the hood, easier routing for the cooler anyway.

    I should have bought a 3/4 ton truck when I bought my Silverado 1500 in 2015. The 6.0 gasser is a much more durable engine than my L83. Turbo sounds great. Bet it pulls like a beast too.

      Good thing you got a 15 Silverado 1500 I had a 12 and a 13 Silverado with the piece of shit 5.3 they were gutless oil and gas hogs 14mpg highway and that imperial mpg as I live in Canada. My 08 2500HD 6.0 was way better got 20 mpg at 110km/h once again imperial mpg as I live in Canada and it pulled like a diesel a turbo would of made it even better for the fraction of the cost of a stupid over priced diesel.

    What size pipe is your cold side? 2.5 or 3”? I’m starting my 8.1l with a gt45 that’s going to be rear mounted. Have pretty much everything at this point I just need to install it. Between your detailed videos and some others I feel like I’ve got a good handle on everything. So thank you for posting vids like these. Grabbed a gear scavenge pump with two check valves to prevent oil draining via the feed and the return. Also going to run a delayed relay on the pump so when I turn the car off it runs for like 10 seconds just to relieve pressure in the feed and help with drainage. Everything is an fittings and braided hose. Grabbed a cx racing t4 flange with 44mm wastegate flange welded on it. Just gotta get some mandrel 4” 90s so I can run the exhaust down and out the side. The short exhaust should make the wee wees pretty loud. AEM wideband and boost gauge. Hp tuners for the tune. I’m hopefully starting this weekend if it doesn’t rain. At least hoping hot side it’ll just be blowing to nothing until I get the cold all mocked up with mounts.

    Ok" I'm starting to think the Matrix is real, I bought a 2004 2500hd for swapping parts into a 93 Chevy k1500 4×4 with same lift, same size tires, use the 6.0 the 4l80e kept my manual shift 241c transfer case, Terminator X Max ECU and wiring, I'm going to use the front differential and put a air Locker in it 488 gears to match the rear 14 bolt 6 lug, or possibly eventually use the 2004 rear end as well with the disc brakes and have it shortened to inches. And I REALLY want ( obsessed with) a rear mounted Turbo. Needless to say I pushed like save And subscribe before you even started it up, endless grinning and kinda giggling like a sixteen-year-old boy snuck in the back door of a strip club after you did. I even sometimes pull a John Deere tractor 🤯 I'm really surprised about the stall you have, I would have never guessed you would want that. Boy oh boy oh boy" I cant wait 🤤

      It pulls extremely well! Boost is like anything it depends on how much throttle but not always in boost. If you're easy on it you could probably keep it out of boost all together. If you're on it hard then yes. Under normal towing it goes in and out. I'll have to make another video of the boost gauge.

    • @slow_restoration
      @slow_restoration  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did install this my self! STS Turbo doesn't sell this kit anymore. You could do a front mount kit similar to this for $2,500-$4,500 depending on the options you pick. You would also have to do a fuel system and tuning.

      STS Turbo used to build a kit for these trucks. I always wanted to try it out, so that's what I did. I've also used a front mount. They are surprisingly similar.

    how heavy was the loaded trailer? i tow 7k with my 2500hd a few times a month and am piecing my turbo parts together. wondering how the stall works for you. thinking of a 2600 stall for mine as its going to be stock on 8lbs. 78/75 bay mount.

    • @slow_restoration
      @slow_restoration  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never weighed the combo before. The stall works good, it definitely pipes though mine is a 3200. That should be a solid build. The 6.0 is a strong platform.

I can buy a nice 2500HD chevy with a 6.0 vortec and 6spd auto and put a $3500 single turbo with cast manifold too looked factory and instinaly be at 500hp+ But I'd do 4" turbo back straight pipe 3" is to snappy for me. Fuck diesels and there way over priced bullshit parts ! I do love the John Deere tractor aswell.

      Yeah that's the exact same philosophy I am going with. Diesel trucks to begin with are expensive to get and on top of that diesel fuel is alot more expensive in my area! Even just a smaller turbo on a 6.0 for alot of torque I feel would tow just as good if you're not pulling like 20k lbs up a hill haha.
