    If you get a run use a strip of making tape6 -8 inch holding each end and dap the run gently, the excess paint will stick to the tape do not dab on the same spot on the tape. Dab then move the tape to a fresh spot on the tape.

    I remember seeing a tub repair guy use polisher machine to polish the tub.
    I’m not sure why he used it as I was busy doing my handy man duties, but would you happen to have any idea as to why these tub repair guys would use a polisher for these tub repairs???

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably had a repair on a back wall eye level and lighting that was making the finish more difficult. That can be the toughest area to make a repair depending on how the light is reflecting. Our kits offer up to 3000 grit sand paper which can help if you find yourself working on something like this.

    Great video I have an a relic tub that has a couple of micro cracks that are on tub walls similar locations to your repair area. Is this kit recomended for acrylic tubs? I'm not sure what the difference is between acrylic and fiberglass.

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Our level 1 and 2 kits will work well on acrylic tubs because those are for cosmetic (non-weight bearing) repairs. Level 3 kits for Floor cracks on acrylic tubs can be more difficult because acrylic tubs are much harder to get perfectly solid. I would estimate a 60% success rate on floor cracks for acrylic tubs. Was this helpful?

    so weight bearing means the actual part where you are standing at or if you were sitting in a bath. Am I understanding correctly?. Because my crack is flat on the base of tub where you are standing at in this video. Please let me know? Thanks so much in advance.

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, sorry for the slow response. When we say weight bearing we mean the floor. The damage in this video was not weight bearing. Level 3 kits and videos go over repairing floor cracks. If you have a crack in your floor that would be what you want to look at. You can find the videos categorized on our TH-cam page and on our website TubRepairCo.com. Let us know if you need help!

    It looks like your sample color swatches are being placed directly on a corner shelf of the shower. If so, how do you remove it ? If not, what is the process for color matching ?

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes we match the color on the surface of the tub and used acetone to clean it off. This is ok on all surfaces except plastic tubs. On plastic tubs you want to match the color near the repair so it will be coated when finished. Plastic tubs don’t clean up as easy and it can affect the finish of a plastic tub. Standard fiberglass showers have a gel coat that is not affected by the products and cleans up well.

    Do you use a special type of drill bit? Also, do you always use a 1/8 inch drill bit or does that depend on something else ? Also, can you link a video to this reply for a repair on the side wall. Mine crack in the area where the tub contours in a corner.

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Susie, thanks for the question. You can use larger or smaller drill bits depending on your project. 1/16” is probably the smallest bit for a hairline crack. We will try to get a video of a repair like yours. Be sure to subscribe!

    Can you please answer a few questions? I think this kit is exactly what I need! I have taken out the jets from my tub and I want to convert it to a soaker tub. I sealed the holes from the back with flexseal, and now I want to repair the holes from the front. There are 6 holes total, I would say about 2.5 inches in diameter. Do you think one level two kit would be enough and work for this repair?

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a stretch for a level 2. You would be safe getting 2 level 2 kits. That may be a bit more than it would take but only 1 would likely not be enough. Also you will want to give the repairs to the holes a little girth maybe 1/8”. If you simply fill the hole and sand it flush with no overlap I would be concerned it wouldn’t have enough support. I hope this is clear. Let us know if you need more guidance!

    • @tubrepairco

      Honestly probably not much. The best thing you can do is hook a small 2 gallon vacuum to your sander. If you tape it off close to the repair and spray you are likely to get a hard line.

    Also, why do you need to use the driller on the crack?

    • @tubrepairco
      @tubrepairco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      You drill the end of the crack to cut it off and keep it from progressing in the same direction.
      The equipment not included in the level 2 kit that we used are:
      5.5” orbital sander
      2 gallon shop vac
      Blow dryer
      Drill
      1/4” drill bit
      10’ extension cord
      3 prong splitter
      Respirator
      Trash can
      Paper towels
      The sander and vacuum are some what optional however the sanding on a patch this size would be very difficult by hand. The vacuum cuts way down on the dust so keeping the project clean will be much more difficult without it.

      @@Apexpropertycare you should not need a polisher. The hardest location would be a repair on the back wall above the waist. This area can get direct light reflecting off of it and highlight the transition of the repair. Our wet sanding kit included in every kit will help a lot if this is the case.
