Fantastic review Sir! There's also another really cool feature the game has in co-op if you have that PS3 3DTV, rather than have split screen for co-op, you'll get a full screen each as the game will rapidly flick between player 1 and 2's screen, and the glasses will blank out in time when the other player's screen is shown, giving the impression you have the whole screen to yourself. Only a handfull of games ever did this (I thing Motorstorm Apocalypse was another) but it's a really impressive/novel feature.
Merci beaucoup! It's a shame I couldn't show the 3D in the video. I did play around with it quite a bit, although I admit I didn't try the co-op in 3D. The parts in this video where you see co-op gameplay is me actually playing on both controllers, although for player 2 I'm using my feet!
@@goukigod I think it only works on that Sony PS3 3DTV too, or at least a specific line of Sony TV's, as not many 3DTVs can send seperate signals to multiple glasses. Well worth picking one up if you see one on eBay though. But lol, I've been there, capturing second player footage with your feet :D
I think Gran Turismo 5 had the same feature, and if i remember harder the technology is called Simulview. Bought a compatible 47" Sony TV with it back in the days, only played a couple of hours tho....
Along with Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica have been the only studios to actually max out the PS3's SPU's and even having to offload some additional processes onto other co-processors.
All in house teams too. From what i understand Sony's developers are required to share tech so that the first party games look and run as good as possible.
Killzone 3 is my fav game in this franchise. Loved playing the multiplayer easily spent 100 hours at least on it. Played the campaign 3 times twice myself and one time with my brother.
Thanks. Yeah, there is quite a few modern reviews that lean heavily into the game’s/series’ problems. I’m not saying these games don’t have problems but I feel like there’s much more to celebrate than criticize
Nice retrospective! I just finished my first playthrough and loved it. Such a drastic improvement on KZ2. One note on the controls, they had less layout options, BUT gave you the option to swap R1/R2 and L1/L2 in advanced settings. This made such a big difference for me to aim and shoot with the triggers!
The multiplayer was so ahead of it's time and thankfully more balanced than Killzone 2 multiplayer aka Radec "dust2" Academy, though I remember some PS Move pros could dominate the entire server
I didn't jump into the MP until about a year after launch and by that time it was too late. The only people playing were so good at it that most games I'd be lucky top get a single kill.
The sharpshooter feels to me much better than a dualshock gamepad (coming from mouse and keyboard). The Sharpshooter has that 1:1 movement like a mouse within the deadzone. So feels very natural.
It was christmas 2022 that i was finally able to get my first current gen playstation since i bought my ps1 in sams club. Having missed these games the first time around, its criminal they arent at least streaming in the classics section of ps+
I personally love Killzone 2 more, I think the mission design was better. Yes there was less variety but I think the scenarios were better designed and more fun. It really felt like you were just one dude in these huge battle that were playing out. In Killzone 3 it feels like a lot of the scenarios are very tightly designed to play out like E3 stage demos, which look amazing, but ultimately are less replayable and don't challenge the player as much. Even though they are both ultimately linear games, Killzone 2 had the sandbox feeling for me which it's sequel lacked. Also I prefer the heavier post processing of killzone 2 and it just stylistically looks more visually cohesive to me.
I think I agree. 2 feels more like a cohesive experience whereas 3 is more like a hodgepodge of cool set pieces. If you could give KZ2 KZ3's handling that would be ideal for me though.
I theorised about this in my KZ2 video. My guess is it's an effort vs profit thing. Porting these games most likely isn't that simple and given these games didn't make a truck load of money back in the day, Sony probably figure it's not worth the time and money doing it.
@@goukigodyet still willing millions into hundreds millions of dollars for single games and buying 3rd devs to not go other platforms. Sony must hate money. Especially with Helldriver 2 incident now
I just started KZ2 on my PS3 today. I like it so far. Playing on hard dif. It has a unique feel..like weight to your movements. Great effects in big battles. I have KZ3 in the wrapper. I got a very late start with the PS3. I was on the Xbox360 that gen. So far I went through The Last of Us. Very sweet game!.. I'll be playing all of the systems heavy hitter exclusives. 👍 🎮 Cool review
I actually preferred Killzone 2's campaign and felt that 3 was 'prettier' but shorter and less cohesive. I felt that the MP was a much bigger focus this time round and the Campaign seemed to have a LOT less actual game-play - regardless of whether it was prettier, now with 'co-op' etc. Killzone 3 had a bigger MP than 2 and like other FPS games of its time, the Campaigns were getting shorter as everyone was pushing Online features...
Yeah I can agree with that. I still prefer KZ3's story over KZ2 but the campaign definitely feels more disjointed and you can tell that they were chasing the COD model which would be fully realised with the horribly bland Shadow Fall
Dope review. U have good style. Covered all the points in respectable time and >> big thanks for not being obnoxious. Thanks a mil for not being obnoxious ! Like a breath of fresh air.
I finished this game in 3D. The effect was pretty cool as it had some real nice pop. But I must say, deactivating 3D and playing it normally made the normal mode feel like it was running at 60fps. Resistance 3 had an even worse frame rate using 3D and that one gave me quite a bit of a headache.
6:45 I love killzone 2 and have finished it dozen of times but my god the controls are unplayable. It feels like to hold a gun at the end of a broom stick and it’s not only the slow movement but the lack of any control. If you ever played a first person shooter using keyboard only this is exactly the experience you get.
Obrigado!
I like KZ3 quite a bit, but for me I feel KZ2’s campaign holds up better on the whole. In terms of pushing the hardware KZ3 looks a cut above in some ways (you can practically see the steam coming out of the PS3 when playing these games, they still look incredible), but I do prefer the art direction in KZ2 and KZ2’s quincunx variety anti-aliasing solution also looks better to my eye than the MLAA solution used in KZ3. Both games are excellent, but what a lot of people hated about KZ2 I adore personally - the low amount of aim assist compared to KZ3 (and other console shooters) and the heavy “weight” give KZ2 a very unique game feel in my eyes. KZ2 really does feel like totally it’s own unique thing to me. KZ Shadowfall feels a lot more like other modern shooters and KZ3 seems to sit somewhere in the middle in terms of game feel for me (I’m not claiming that’s a bad thing, there’s a lot of subjectivity for what people prefer of course). Both are great games but KZ2 remains the series peak for me with KZ3 being the next best and then Vita’s Mercenary following that.
Great video although I’ve tried to play killzone 3 and it doesn’t seem to load even after I bought 2 different compies? Is there a solution to this as would absolutely love to play this game again?

Killzone franchise bundle in VR would be fantastic!
After all this years this game looks absolutely gorgeous compare to new Halo and BRUHfield 2042 and plays very fun
My personal feeling is that many modern games sacrifice good art direction in the pursuit of 4K resolutions and tech like ray tracing .
@4:08 for a second i thought I was looking at the Joker without his clown makeup lol even sounded like him. Great review new to the channel.
Never though about him that way but yeah, he kind of does remind me of the Mark Hamill Joker.

Apparently you can run the 3D mode through RPCS3 (emulator) which should fix the frame rate issue
Commenting here just so that maybe the video can gain some traction and appear in more people's recommendations

@@goukigod definitely does, I saw something on reddit ages ago about it not working with the latest patch but yeah?? thanks for your reply good sir
How long would you say it takes for it to load for yourself? I’m just trying it now with the 1.14 patch installed?
A few minutes I think. Long enough to make you think it's not working.
I never played the Killzone series, still waiting for a collection for PS5 at this point.
I have a dream...
I fear you may be waiting a while. Might be better to just grab a PS3, they cost less than a new game these days.
