My problem with Killzone 3 as mentioned by the reviewer is a lack of polish in certain areas. Just look at the releases dates of their games. Killzone 3 clearly had less development time. Like for example the level layout. There were countless times when I was shot completely out of nowhere and couldn't hide due to lack of cover. Or the incoherent mess of a story. Killzone 2 isn't exactly a masterclass of writing, but I personally felt way more engaged with the main characters than in Killzone 3. I think Killzone 3 actually improved Rico's character in a lot of ways. While I won't deny that the events of the game were directly his fault, there were a few scenes where he realized it and decided to make up for it. For example, when Jammer sent out an SOS, Rico was the first one to come to her rescue. He not only saved her, but several other ISA soldiers, and even became their leader. Rico later rescued Sev and Narville from being executed by Stahl, and helped destroy the giant petrusite tower that trapped their whole battalion. So what I'm basically saying is, I really think Rico's a better character than most people give him credit for. It's just in KZ2 where he was horrible.
I think a lot of this game's flaws stem from a desire to compete with CODs gameplay, when really they should have stuck to their guns and made their own game. It is beautiful though and after watching this review I think I'll give it another blast through. Glad to see you giving this series some love dude.
I think I know why Helghans are interesting (beside the look and design). Through whole Killzone series we see everything mostly from ISA perspective. Also ISA is basically USA in this universe so most people know what is going on here. However we don't know much about Helghans and what is going on behind the scene (till Killzone 3). Also it looks like they are based on totalitarian regime like USSR (leader died so high ranked members start fight for power). This is something that people don't know much and don't see very often.
I'm a physician who has loved gaming since my Atari 5200. I feel guilty that I burst out laughing when you said the daughter looked like she had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. In a couple of ways, you're right... SMH
It’s interesting that you went from liking Rico in the beginning, to then despising him. For me it was completely the other way around, and it feels like that was Guerrilla’s intention for KZ3. When he arrives to rescue Sev and then lead the rescue of Narville and the attack on Stahl’s ship - it’s almost as if he redeems himself for being a total child in the previous games.
Nah Rico can go jump off a cliff for all I care. Self-centered man-child who blames others for everything. Hell, he blames Nervill for getting his people killed when Rico was the sole reason for the invasion failing, everyone got stuck on Helgan because he threw a tantrum because of Visari, who was *barely* insulting him. Rico is by far the worst character, at least before Shadowfall. I wish he died instead of Garza
This is easily one of my favorite games from the PS3. The visuals were superb, the multiplayer was fantastic, and the campaign wasn't bad either. They fixed the awful controls from KZ2, so I no longer felt forced into solely using the M82 or STA-52 anymore. It's a shame that Shadow Fall was so lame in comparison. I picked it up for $6 off of the PS store, and I still haven't finished the story because I got so bored with it. The levels are fantastic looking, but the story is very lackluster. Especially after the conclusion of KZ3, the setup for Shadow Fall seems even more baffling. The multiplayer really took a step back because it no longer focuses on the Warzone mode (in my opinion, the best feature of KZ multiplayer) and instead focuses on custom Warzone playlists. In essence, the stupidest game modes rise to the top, ie TDM. They also got rid of most of the classes and consolidated them into 3, which I think is a bad move. Classes no longer seem focused, much like how Battlefield degraded into 4 classes from the 7 in BF2.
The main purpose of the shooting gallery was because they added motion controls to the game after sony released that God awful light gun adapter. I have that thing in storage somewhere
It'd be interesting to see a video on Killzone: Mercenary, but getting a Vita, the game, and figuring out a way to record it may be a bit of a pain in the ass for just one video.
I remember playing killzone 3 and being pretty disappointed. Killzone 2 was definitely the best. Arguably... The only good games in the whole franchise are kz2 and to a lesser extent killzone mercenary on the ps vita.

Mainly because you, as a player, couldn't replace that stupid railgun with another damn gun!!!!
I kinda like how, Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway did "health", instead of having health you have a suppression effect that gets worse until you take a hit and die, it works like regen health in that it builds up and gets worse while under fire and goes away in cover, but also varies depending on the situation, ie if you're running from cover to cover under fire from more distant enemies you may get hit after 5-10 seconds in the open, but if you walk into a room and an enemy fires from like 4 feet away, you're dead almost instantly cause they hit you in 1 or 2 shots, I actually turn the "effect" off so I have less of an idea when I'll get hit, for mah imershun XD

In KillZone 3 you could actually turns off the 6 axis controls. The option is called "turn off motion controls" and it will just do the animation for you basically. Best change from KillZone 2 in my opinion.

Only an Australian could casually say they knew what tarantula legs look like with any degree of believability.
i always sang "G G G G UNIT" but with man instead but now im so lost
I think a lot of this game's flaws stem from a desire to compete with CODs gameplay, when really they should have stuck to their guns and made their own game. It is beautiful though and after watching this review I think I'll give it another blast through. Glad to see you giving this series some love dude.
Notification squad checking in. You're the man, Gman.
He’s always the man, pal. 👍
Even in 2023 this game rendering looks AWESOME. They could "remaster" it by just upscaling textures, resolution and the polygon count .
I honestly always said ggmanlives. Forgot the 3rd g half the time so I welcome this change
The visuals remind me of Black on the PS2 - those muted tones and strong shadows/blacks.
Black needs a remaster or remake. That game was badass. 👌
This is my favorite FPS of all time by far. This, and Killzone 2.
I'm a physician who has loved gaming since my Atari 5200. I feel guilty that I burst out laughing when you said the daughter looked like she had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. In a couple of ways, you're right... SMH

"There will be no QUARTER!" why hasn't this line been turned into a meme?
It’s interesting that you went from liking Rico in the beginning, to then despising him. For me it was completely the other way around, and it feels like that was Guerrilla’s intention for KZ3. When he arrives to rescue Sev and then lead the rescue of Narville and the attack on Stahl’s ship - it’s almost as if he redeems himself for being a total child in the previous games.
I hated him the whole time haha
Man i had many memories of this as a kid, especially the tutorial... also it was my low cost TF2
The only gaming TH-camr who has made me go google fetal alcohol syndrome just to fully understand the review
I remember playing killzone 3 and being pretty disappointed. Killzone 2 was definitely the best. Arguably... The only good games in the whole franchise are kz2 and to a lesser extent killzone mercenary on the ps vita.
Horrible opinion
@@alexradice8163 i mean Shooting bad guys up close in easy mode is pretty cinematic, something about animations and shadows... but playing it like a normal shooter? not too great, that's why they have mechs and ski tanks and what not.
Love the name change, sonny jim.
thank you for keeping your original review style :) nice to have a creator actually listen to their audience
I love Killzone 3
It's my favourite in the series and alongside MW1 and R3 my favourite shooter on PS3
GG, Gman lives... The madman has done it. The Killzone games were always pretty good, not Halo killers or anything but way better than say... The Resistance games
Maybe the market would release all the ‘Halo Killers’ game titles gathered into one package just for fun LOL
Resistance 3 is really great tho
I dont agree, rezistance 3 was awesome
Resistance 2 co-op was the shiz bruh
I love this series, too bad it’s been lost in the sands of time
Damn GManlives sorry to hear about RDR 2 bricking your PS4, hope this isn't Rockstar screwing with you for not reviewing RDR 2.
Why would Rockstar want to brick Gman's PS4 for not reviewing _Red Dead Redemption 2_ ? If anything, it's more like EA's doing after he gave _Anthem_ a bad review and moved onto a better game. XD
"Dusty old space nazis" I don't know why that sounds so funny. Probs because he said it while they were clapping with their glorious facial hair. 🤣
3:18 Shooting on consoles in a nutshell. That bullet magnetism is hilarious. Shoot nowhere close to your enemy, he still dies.
Never played Killzone 1 so no comment there.
Played Killzone 2 back in the day: I thought it was a great game! Good stuff!
Played Killzone 3 when it was released: OMFG!!! This is it!!! The greatest single player game ever made, and the multiplayer is just as intense and action filled as the single player!!!!
Played Killzone 4 when it was released: Ok.... I'm stuck with this dumb ''rail gun'' and I can only carry ''that'' plus another gun...
End note: I never bothered to finish KZ4. Mainly because you, as a player, couldn't replace that stupid railgun with another damn gun!!!!
Give me 10 years!
I remember playing the demo with my cousin back when I was a little lad. Good times
watching you struggle with the sixaxis controls is hilarious
i never woke up from a deep sleep so fucking fast
I love this game. It looks awesome and it's got a friggin' Jetpack.
I booted this game up while testing a PS3/controller I'm refurbing. Even on a 120 monitor I'm astounded how good this game still looks.
The full potential of the cell broadband engine, is shown in this title
Only 90s kids will remember gggmanlives
I don’t mind the dropping of G’s, it is your appearance to change as you will and I’ll support whatever you think is best for you and your channel. Thanks for great reviews with my coffee each morning
I hope you will also play Killzone: Mercenary => the reason why I bought a PS Vita TV
BTW I enjoy every video of you!!! Great work!
That game was fun on both singleplayer and multiplayer
@@Matt-md5yt The only good fps on the vita
I wish killzone mercenary campaign was longer. Also the campaign is alot better then the first 4 games. since it shows the ISA and the helghast are not good guys and bad guys but it shows that the two factions are just doing orders
At this stage I think that the best think Guerilla can do to revive the KZ brand is to drop Mercenaries 2, but just for the PS4.
Changed your name to "GManLives" eh? I remember seeing the recommendation in one of your TH-cam posts. Thanks for the review, never got the chance to play the KillZone series but it does look fun
I'm still a big fan of KZ3. Easily one of my most played shooters to date. I actually got KZ2 around a month before KZ3 came out so i could be clued in on the story, and got right to the sequel was pretty fun. I look forward to it one day coming to PC. Or a good emulator with all the DLC at least xD.
If I were designing a Single Player FPS, I would have two primary slots and a sidearm slot for a handgun, magnum, SMG or a sawed-off shotgun.
dude...all i want is a hd 60fps remaster of killzone 1, 2 and 3. id buy that shit in a second
Why tf did you change your name m8
I dunno, sounds more simply Cathy to say for me so I don’t have any complains

@Damsen i personally think gggmanlives was better
@@MoopMoopRS gmanlives is definitely better, always thought the added g's were a bit unnecessary
I feel like your account name makes more sense now. And good review as always :)
This was the first FPS gane I ever played, and the tutorial was really useful
Crazy this game looks like a PS4 game it was ahead of its time. This was my favorite kill zone game.. I still hope they make more kill zone games I enjoyed all of them.
I still love the dynamic feeling of Operations mode where kicking the most ass means your character stars in the cutscenes.
Hell yeah new vid. Nice to watch after work
It’s also a treat to watch in early morning after finishing breakfast
I still prefer Killzone 2, it seemed to have played more fluid for me, and I felt the multiplayer was weaker in 3, perhaps they tried too hard to balance it out.
Fun fact: this game came out the same day as Bulletstorm.
It also came out the same day as LittleBigPlanet 2 I think because I bought both games at the same time. I bought a little big planet for my son and KZ3 was for me of course.
This worth playing in 2019?I just finished killzone 2.
Yes. One of the best looking games of that generation, and a top 10 shooter for sure.
@@yhckelly you must be playing some REALLY bad games
@@alexradice8163 no playing a good game
I remember liking this game, didn't care about the plot or gunplay but the cool locations and character design is what makes this game imo. It kinda feels like this is a cross between Star Wars and CoD. Anyways, nice vid dude.
Then there's Killzone: Liberation and Mercenary, the PSP and the Vita games. Played through Mercenary, It was fine, though I can't remember a single thing from the story. Maybe I should replay it 🤔
The graphics is insane in Mercenary. Still impressive, and if I remember it correctly, it actually runs the Killzone 3 engine.
In KillZone 3 you could actually turns off the 6 axis controls. The option is called "turn off motion controls" and it will just do the animation for you basically. Best change from KillZone 2 in my opinion.
Killzone 3 is my favorite console exclusive shooter ever. The multiplayer was some of the best I have seen, operations mode was incredibly fun.
Yeah I find it funny that they made this "HP regen mechanic" to not break a game flow compared to classic medpack hunting.
But they forgot about "hiding behind a cover" part.
Can't believe this series comes from the Netherlands. Can't remember any famous game that comes from my country. Too bad I never played them. Don't have a console
We need another killzone ... that looked like KZ2
Killzone 3 had the option to play it with PlayStation Move controls. Those were essentially Sony's version of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk and it basically controlled the same as a FPS on the Nintendo Wii.
I haven't played any of the Killzone games, I just like your reviews.
I'll keep calling you Gggmanlives, you can't stop me.
This game did everything perfect. Period.
Those metallic guns sounds and recoil are spot on.
@8:29 seems pretty realistic to me lol.
well after playing shadowfall i really like the storytelling of killzone 3 a lot
Only thing to disagree is the tutorial, the controls changed drastically from killzone 2
The Tutorial Mission, helped me out, cause this was the first fps shooter, I played in my life, I was 6 years old when I got this game with my Ps3,my older brothers just taught me how to move with the analog sticks
The stealth section was one of the most memorable gaming experience for me
You should take a look at the PS Vita killzone games. also 4:00 Nazi's... In SPAACCCEEE.
