I have one question... what is your motivation to get through all your school work and studying for upcoming quizzes and tests?
How do u get through rough exams? Mentally
Do you have a friend who transfers to Yale? Could you do an interview with him about the transfer process?
I wanted to transfer too (until like two days ago), but it's way too expensive for a bachelor degree. I might go to London instead.
What advice would you have for an international student like myself practicing for the ACT and SAT tests along with doing my own school exams in my own country. I feel very overwhelmed with everything to learn and I'm looking for advice on how to manage all of it.
Ryan Simms You only have to report your ACT score or the SAT score you don’t need to report both but that’s for U.S. students I don’t know for international but ACT is more for U.S. students so I would take the SAT if I were you but make sure you read each college’s requirements and stuff I would try to separate the time use for your country’s tests and the tests the ACT or SAT so that you don’t get overwhelmed having to take them both the SAT and the ACT are no easy tests even for native U.S. students but read the requirements and how each of the colleges want it done because the admissions officers don’t like it when things are not turned in the way they wanted which is pretty clearly stated

I'm an international student as well, from the French system. I finished my application this winter break. If I had any advice for you concerning test prep, it's to start VERY early and I cannot stress this enough haha. I didn't do it myself and only studied mainly the week before and it didn't go that well trust me (i still had a pretty decent score of 1450 on the SAT but I feel like I could have done a lot better). So origanize your time, make a schedule and stuck to it, it'll work out just fine. Also if you're taking the SAT, I would NOT recommend using any prep book like the Barron's the questions and sample tests are not representative at all. Instead use either Khan academy's prep courses or simply find the 8 original tests from the collegeboard website. I wish you luck and success in what you'll do. Keep me updated 😉

Ryan Simms For U.S. students you can take both the SAT and the ACT then you can choose to report whichever one that you think is best to the colleges most colleges allow score choice that is to sent the score that is the best let’s say I took the SAT 3 times and I use the one with the highest score but some colleges want you to sent all 3 of them they have all that information on their website so yeah it’s confusing so I highly recommend look at their website but don’t freak out if you don’t do well on the SAT because it’s doesn’t measure intelligence experiments have found that the SAT doesn’t measure future performance a really good student can do not so well on them and colleges have made the SAT and tests less important in their admissions process (except for Harvard but I do think they are going to make it optional) but there are also SAT subject tests too if you’re not shooting for like a top school that is very competitive then you don’t need it but look up what they are and yes this can be found on their websites too it depends on what you’re going into if you want to apply to a selective undergraduate business program then highly recommend take the SAT Math 1 or 2 if engineering is SAT Math 1 or 2 and most preferably Physics some schools might have different requirements but what schools are you looking at anyway

I don’t know who else to ask about this since my guidance counselor is kind of useless. Do you know if you actually have to take a class to get the college credit for an AP class or do you just have to score well on the AP test?

Tasnim Islam I know that most higher ranked colleges don’t give credit for them. I just wanted to know whether or not it was worth the time and effort of studying and all that.
The higher ranked colleges generally take only 4s or 5s on the AP tests ... a 3 is considered passing and is what most schools will accept. That being said, prioritize your tests so you at least earn credit for a class you may want to avoid (if you don't want to take freshmen English, take AP lang or something to defer that requirement for a while). But you don't have to send in your scores at all ... if you think you failed the test after taking it, just don't submit it to the colleges you've applied to. And I don't think colleges will rescind your admission if you don't do well on a test -- they care much more about your final grade in the class.

You're randomly assigned to a college when you confirm to attend Yale. You don't live there in your freshman year though, unless you're in TD (Josh's college). You live on Old Campus in your freshman year.
