Well, I am 71 and have 2 black German Shepherds under 2 years old. They keep me busy, for sure. I take them to play at the dog park every day and go for a 2 mile walk with them in the evening. Good to have digs that make get out and do things with them.
👏 I am not yet in my 70s but had Dobermans my entire life. Guess what breed I intend to have when I am your age in 15 years? Take care, love from a Doberman mommy from Germany 🙋♀️🇩🇪
I will be 62 years old come next March. I would love to get my hands on a Caliver King Charles for my birthday. If not I'll settle with a Corgi or a Bichon. Thanks again for this awesome video. So much to chose from.
A bichon covers all bases. They're loveable, funny and friendly. They will also love you to a fault and love to be with you without being overly clingy. They are small but they do require exercise on a daily basis to keep them content and healthy. I'm very fond of the Cavalier but they are more prone to health problems than the average dog, especially heart problems.
The smallest dog breed overall is the Chihuahua! Mine is just more than 2kg and 20cm high. It is easy to train, very affectionate and quiet, if you train it, that is.
Sorry to say this but I find them to be an extremely aggressive and dominant breed. I wouldn't trust them around small children which is why I wouldn't recommend them for a senior person with grandchildren.
@bordercollie1140 as always, the behaviour of a dog is a reflection of the owner. If you don't train your dog, you have an untrained, uncontrollable dog, be it a Staffi or a Chi.
Ya know, the best dog for any human is a DOG! Big or small, it's a DOG! Like humans they have personalities and needs; choosing a dog is like choosing a human companion; a wise human wouldn't get with a couch potato if they are an energetic person, vice versa. A wise human would not get with a high maintenance companion if they are of a carefree lifestyle. If a human is disabled a large companion may not be such a great idea in emergency scenario (not able to pick them up or keep them safe.)
Idk why Pembroke Corgi in this list, I am young and have one corgi, and he is so energetic and crazy, run around the house constantly never get tired, I dont think it is a good dog for senior 😂
while i do agree with your first choice, biichon, i dont agree on number 10, a corgi is not good for seniors, they are scrappy, shed loads, and can really pull on a lead, and when they fart they will clear the room
I enjoyed the review for elderly people dog companion. I saw that you didn’t include the “Boston terrier” and you said the “pen broke Welch corgi’s “ you didn’t show the actual “pembroke” you showed the Welch corgis with the “tail”!!! The pembroke had no tail… the Welch corgi has a tail, and was breed was a hearding dog. So pembroke (no tail). Please show audience correct dogs, please! Most of us know our “Breeds!”
There are 2 Corgi types and both are from Wales, the Cardigan and the Pembroke. Whilst most Pembrokes have a bob tail, some do have a full tail. It was a Pembroke that was shown in the clip.

All great choices I think Cavalier King Charles would be my preference out of those 3 aswell

West Highland White is wonderful I've had 3 of them over the years. They are loving and fun to have. Once they get to know you they are protective.
