Love this no matter how many times I watch this - would love Martin to do a 2020 version
and in 2020 version cgt would win, real analogue supercar
They couldn’t afford this today insurance would kill them 😂😂
Agreed
@@Cgkent10 Top Gear get insurance for Freddie Flintoff to drive. Martin is a driving god...
I'm still waiting for his next installment. It's been 17 years!
I was Hoping the same all those years ago 2003 😈
Funny how that whole collection being worth £3m is considered an incredible bargain today 😂
I think this Episode is from 2007, with lock down they went to archives, that's why the total value is low, if you notice video quality is not to current digital standards. As the Title identifies Classic Fifth Gear
A McLaren F1 is about £25m as of 2020.
Guys I'm not silly, I know that this is 2003. 😂
I said that £3 million for ALL of them would be a bargain TODAY (meaning 2020). As cars like the McLaren F1 alone, are fetching over £20 million now... 🤯
@@Ssh52 Yes it would be 🤣👌
That was my first thought !
And once again the AMAZING F50 is overlooked
will never be appreciated i think
Harris did a good review on the f50 vs f40 www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/videos/a24256/ferrari-f40-v-ferrari-f50-like-youve-never-seen-them-before-chris-harris-on-cars/
Very rare. So few made.
I wholeheartedly agree. It's phenomenal.
th-cam.com/video/UXWNTMO3URQ/w-d-xo.html
@@mattroyce I think now it finally is. It's been getting lots of praising lately.
What a superb antidote to all the gushing you get normally by Americans ( mainly) about these sort of cars. all driven by a pro and evaluated by a critic. I love how how he calls out their faults without over egging it.
I like how the Volvo Estate has its own little section in the progress bar.
Best supercar head to head ever made PERIOD. I am amazed this doesn't have more likes and views
30:29 - what a lovely example of a dihedral synchro-helix door actuation!
That's what I was thinking. Better than a coaxial radial swivel any day.
Did he really swerve to avoid hitting a rabbit in the Enzo? What a legend...
I thing it was more about hitting the Enzo...
Watching him hop curbs in an F40 and kick a Zonda rear end out on a tight country road = perfection. Probably the only time in the life of these cars that they were driven like this
I remember watching this on an infant TH-cam back in 2006. Glad to see it pop up on my feed
The Ferrari F40, the Jag XJ220 and believe me the McLaren F1 were the best supercars that graced my childhood
Sweet Nostalgia. The collector knows what he is doing. This is genuine love for cars.
Was surprisingly refreshing watching the F40 scrape over bumps. I wouldn't want to see it crashed but I'd hope it still gets a ragging sometimes
Peep the man the myth chris harris thrash one around a track
I went to London and this was one of the first dvd I bought while I was visiting
I bought this on dvd when it came out, still got it.
And me
Great to see the old king the F1 again. The only good thing that 2020 has given us is the announcement of a new king. Gordon Murray's T50!
He almost wrecked that rabbit with the Enzo!
You caught that eh, good 👁
Still got this on DVD. Always a great watch!
If I learned one thing from watching this it's that Martin has a very high standard for gearboxes :D
the XJ220 is simply stunning.
Phenomenal to drive it GT7. A LOT better, than the F1 actually...
@@Alexp37 I agree. In Forza Motorsport 4 the McLaren F1 is so vicious, so raw. (I drive with no assists). The F1 GT (longer wheelbase) handles a bit better but the Jaguar XJ220 is so much more composed and elegant, even completely stock. The wide track, fat tires and longer wheelbase make it handle more like a group C car on heavy fuel load. Plenty of torque at medium revs also. Race aero, slicks, weight reduction, brakes/suspension, etc and you've got yourself a TWR XJ220S :)

F40 the real supercar that is timeless
Hilarious that even Brundle thought Bugatti was Italian and nobody corrected him!! (It's French in case you were wondering, although the founder was indeed born in Italy)
Bugatti was born in Italy. The cars was made in Germany, then France 😅
When the EB110 was created, Bugatti was an Italian company, and it was made in Modena
Love these retro super car video reviews 👍🏻, back when a company didn't need to have a car with over 1000 HP to be "super."
Exactly, or Giant 22 Inch Wheels to Go as Fast as 242 M.P.H.
Agreed 100%
when he says murcielago, he sounds like jimmy broadbent
Yeah why does the say Mur'TH'ielago 😆

Wow, just brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing. John
I swear, this guy Matin Brundle is using this video to inform everyone of every highlight of his racing career and how to steel your buddy's girlfriend!
What great commentary from Brundle - instead of useless superlatives he talks about the chassis balance, wish there were more like him.
Brilliant, thank you for posting. Some slightly unusual choices (no 959 but a Murcielago and a Diablo?) but that Mclaren F1. The GOAT. Shame to think that today - given what it's worth - you probably couldn't even shoot a video driving it in the rain and getting it out of shape like that.
I remember when I first saw this and being quite surprised by how underwhelmed he sounded about - an F40! and a DIABLO!! Cars I dreamt of merely glimpsing, let alone owning, in the late 80s. But I suppose it takes quite a lot to impress an F1 driver.
Didn't the Stig crash that Koenigsegg in 2003? No downforce or something. Should have listened to Martin!
Martin! Even my backside puckered when the Mclaren stepped out!! All I saw were $$ signs and shame. Nice save.
It struck me, I was more fearful for the car than the wayward rabbit!!!
I remember buying this dvd back in the day!! That EB110 though!!!
Thank you so much for upload this 👌👏👏👏👏
I wish he made more of these!
thank you fifth gear
A supercar should be a little intimidating and scary, it should look amazing. It should be capable of multi day trips to get you to places.
It should go over speed bumps and into hotel carparks without damage.
If it can carry travel bags it can pick up a bit of shopping on the way home.
They are not though town cars or shopping cars. Very few would own only a supercar.
Therefore I agree the focus on abilities wasn't where real owners are looking.
If you want a 'practical' supercar you would include a Porsche in the list.
If you want a Diablo with space for shopping its an early non VT .
Supercars are not shopping trolleys or track day tools. They are high performance GTs
An absolutely top quality program, Martin Brundle is a total Legend! Oh...and a damn fine racing driver as well. More like this, please.
Awesome introduction video! We need more such video, descriptors! As I had in mind, Glad to hear and see! Super! A real Pro. video review !
I've always wanted to see this. Thanks!
The Diablo GT in my opinion has always been the most sexiest, starship fighter "lookingest" Lamborghini ever made. They should bring it back. A special edition with limited amounts that looks similar to the old one but with all new tech and a manual option before they start going hybrid and whatnot.
If it wasn't for f1, Brundle should get a chance on top gear alongside Chris Harris. Wish he'd review more road cars
I agree, Brundle is really good in this video, I'd like to see him drift a Morris Minor round a track though......
@@TheMentalblockrock lolol
He is more competent than Harris.
Tiff, Brundle and Harris would be amazing for Top Gear. Never gonna happen as they would actually talk about cars...
I don't think Martin would be willing to go so far out of his comfort zone doing the challenges. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I like the current cast, and we still have the old trio on Amazon, for now...
Love it Thank you for posting 🏁
Thank you for the upload!
This is my childhood memory!
Needs more adverts.
44:51 bunny out ran the Enzo!
Enjoyed this 👏🏽
Great upload fifth gear
This is GOLD!
Great video I miss fifth gear and top gear.
Really enjoyed that more please.
15:32 peak British humour
This is a little treat to find on TH-cam
Excelent video Nice memories
Oh for more experienced older guys who've been there and know what they're talking about as opposed to younger laddo's who just piss around.(New TG!)
44:53 Extremely lucky rabbit.
Got this on DVD!!
Great post.
Amazing cars!!!!!
This was great.
Missed one key factor about the F40, she’s beautiful! 🥰
That Diablo!!!! Just goals
Awesome!
Bought this on DVD 17 years ago still have it.
No 959 the car that gave us the tech we see today, also F50.TVR should not be in that or murcelago
Koenigsegg's need to be sold with a tyre sticking out the front grill. I can never unsee it lol.
Used to watch this in 6th grade back in 06. Good times.
This is a rarest of the rare film.🙏🙏
21:04 not many people can say that
Love the deep sound of the enzo v12
We need an up date version of this. Image the line up today.
In 2023-2024 almost every car in the collection is over million value… 🥳💰
If only this had the Carrera GT, F50, and MC12. And imagine if it could be repeated on modern tires!
Perfect 3 car garage - Ferrari F40, Ferrari Enzo and the Pagani Zonda. And if you pick the McLaren over one of these, who could blame you?
for me if I can only have 3: Jaguar XJ220, McLaren F1, Ferrari F50
44:54
im sorry you're gunna have to spell it out for son
ho yeah , this bunny could easily made a lot in damage on this .... :)
Nice to see the honesty, especially with 2 Ferrari s in comparison. 20 years later, F1 is still the king.
My childhood fantasies...all in one video.
I got the DVD back in 2003 😄😀😃😄
have this puppy on dvd!
My only complaint is that it's 480p resolution. Was it filmed that way back in 2003? These gorgeous cars deserve 720p or better.
It was likely shot with DigiBeta in 576p25.
Martin must do another one with the latest super cars
I love that TVR
Can anyone tell me what the song is at 46:02 for the EB110 segment, please?
I remember thinking how perfectly it fitted the majesty of the car back in 2003 when I first watched it.
Could never hunt down the name of the song though...
Scraping that F40 had me crying 😢
Wow $3m what a bargain. That collection is probably worth 40-60 million now.
he looks like the guy that likes the mercedes-benz 190e 2.3-16 cosworth’s chassis
Why don’t they do big collective tests like this anymore?
Because they were 3 million together then but probably around 100 million now.
@@GB-vn1tf He means in general
@@Ssh52 its the same reason though, in general nobody can insure 100 million worth of cars for a group test...unless you're a Saudi Arabian Prince and own all of them already.
@@GB-vn1tf 🤣🤣
I was thinking at the Murci that he won't bring up his epic battle with Senna as he has done 4 cars, but sure enough in the TVR wouldn't u know it...
That TVR looks great in its natural habitat....parked up at the side of the road with the bonnet open and a frustrated looking ex-driver.
3 million pounds? Today that's every bit of north of 12 million
Pretty sure i have this on VHS
We need Martin to do an update....
Martin needs to get back out there and make another one of these
Wow. What a collection of cars 🚗 proper dream cars. You can how much they have gone up 3 million total and 320k for a zonda.
Does the song at 0:38 have a name or is it specific to this video? I've always liked it
Amazing how time has marched on. The Ferrari, McLaren and Zonda still look modern.
Some like the Jaguar, Diablo and Bugatti look ancient.
Also, the turn signals, dashboards etc.
Well those 3 were already over a decade old in 2003 anyway. The Ferrari Enzo had just dropped that very year.
Collection today would be around £27million
If not more
Funny how the F50 is no where to be seen. The Diablo GT was the F50's direct rival. I remember the rumor that Ferrari not wanting comparisons to be done betweennthe F40 and F50 because the latter was not as quick.
It’s interesting how people still come back to these wonderful cars and this video….
You’d think cars of the last 15 years would’ve been better
You’d think… 🤔
Gold
Only the english would think to put spanish guitar music over a segment deidcated to an italian car and city.
