@@bschoenborn i completed mine last weekend. Took me about 6 hours. Could have done it faster but as I get older I find that I’m not in much of a hurry and I took about 20 photos of everything so that if it didn’t work out I could go back and see what I did wrong. I bought the tool to hold the left sidewhen sitting in the car cam in place. Didn’t really help at all. It might have worked if the plugs were out but it kept coming loose. Mine is a 2014, I replaced it due to age because the car only has 60k on it. Belt looked fine but I kept worrying that it might pop at any time. Oh well it was time to replace the coolant hoses and belts anyway. Spark plugs come next.
How’s it holding up? I gotta do my timing belt on my 14 wrx I see you posted up the link to the kit, that one is Japanese right ? Thanks for putting all the links in the bio btw very helpful
@@bschoenborn hey man thanks for the fast reply, do you mind helping me really quick, is that link still good for the 14 wrx timing belt ? Just want to make sure I’m getting the right one
@@bschoenborn That’s kind of what I thought but the instructions didn’t make it clear if they were talking about reinstalling an old one or the new one. Sloppy translation I guess, thanks again!
Surprised this doesn't have more views. Great video & thorough job explaining the process.
Thanks man! I really appreciate it.
Good video, very thorough. No way this was a 2 hour job though especially with you making the video.
Depends, that was the first time I had ever done it... now it takes me about 30 minutes hahaha!

Yep, thats the one. TKF-005
8.7 ft lb water pump
Man I love Subies
hows the kit holding up? i just ordered an AISIN kit for my 05 outback xt
Holding up perfect so far!
@@bschoenborn this was the TKF-004 kit yeah? I’m just nervous my 05 had 86k miles and I don’t want mess anything up hahahaha
The one I installed in my STi was the TKF-012... but they differ per vehicle, mostly based on different water pumps.
Hey bro, did you bleed the tensioner for this install?
I only bleed tensioners if I'm reusing them. If they are pre bled and have the pin in them, your good to just slap it in.

great vid man
Thank you!
You bolted the water pump in without rtv...? How long before it leaked?
You should NEVER use RTV on the water pump. Use the metal gasket and you'll never have an issue. I've done hundreds at this point, no leaks.
Don’t use rtv on your water pump
Good job using Subaru parts... so many cheap subbie guys installing gates garbage.
