dont forget to plug the fans in. Last night I just happened to see a dangling connector on my 200k forester and realized I hadn't plugged either fan in. Never saw a change and it was driven like that for 400 miles, LOL. She crusty but trusty
Thanks for the video! Nicely done and explanation! I'm having what I think are timing issues with my new build. It's a 2.5 swapped Bugeye (using non avcs adjustable timing gears, cams) that I'm finishing up. I've validated timing, cracks gear line lines up with the mark on the block, adjustable cam gears, all gears lined up with all marks. It doesn't start. However, it ran at first and wasnt running correctly... Backfiring etc. Pulled the covers and noticed the passenger intake gear adjusting bolts came loose and it was about 4 degrees out. Decided to re set timing to be safe. Now everything lined up and it doesn't start. Any ideas what is going on here?
Hey. Quick question. Love your content!. Doing my timing belt today. Is all done. When u the rotation. Do u feel a little bit of pressure? Everything still line up with mark. Beside the belt. That's dont matter like u said
It's sickening!!! To know that this type of content ONLY has less than 10k Subs. Sure, this means nothing, compared to the money his business is making.
How important is it to bleed the tensioner? I noticed instructions for it in my last Aisin kit but I've never really paid attention to bleeding it. So far no failed tensioners. Also, I can't stress the importance of changing the idlers and pulleys. A good complete kit will include them, make sure they're made in Japan. Lastly regarding MAF sensors, I've made the mistake of damaging the o-ring while installing the sensor back in place after cleaning. all it takes is a small nick in the o-ring to introduce unmetered air into the intake track, carefully inspect the o-ring and maybe put a little silicone lubricant on it to prevent it from binding and pinching in the mounting shoulder.
Damn bro, you channels growing pretty quick!! Almost to 10,000 and it’s only going to take off from their!! Great info btw!! I’ve learned from this!! Thanks.
How similar is the process with the light blue wrx sti beside you?? I ask because I have a 2015 wrx sti limited, and I might be doing a timing belt in about 10,000 miles. Thank you
Now, getting to the end of the video, tells me what my suspicions were. The owners must be an older couple, as the Baja is an Automatic, plus the belts were changed but NOT the pulleys/idlers, etc..
Do the timing marks re align perfectly after you bar the engine over? I can never get them to perfectly re align after barring over the engine. Its usually a half tooth off on the drivers side cam gears on the double marks between the pulleys. This has caused me a lot of 2nd guessing doing these belts. I've done 3 so far on legacy gts and it tends to be a half tooth off every time after barring it over regardless of the lineup before that.
The timing marks on the belt will not realign, but the top dead center mark on the crank will align with the cam marks every two turns. A stroke of a engine is 1/2 rotation of the crank. The four strokes being intake, compression, power, exhaust. The belt marks won’t realign because the belt is not design symmetrical because of water pump, and tensioner path it must take.
On a car that age I think its very beneficial to just go ahead and replace the MAF with new OEM part. I know its a cost no one wants but everything ages, and only so many cleanings you can do over time, it's cheap insurance imo.
I'm in the process of swapping out my avcs cam gears since my old motor blew and was recommended to do so in those circumstances. With the cam gears being avcs and having oil flow, are there any recommendations for changing them or just have a rag laying around to catch the oil?
It never skipped timing that was while assembling the timing didn’t line up correctly. Fast forward several months later the car has now made 800+whp and went 9.68 @ 141mph in 1/4 mile. Lol
PSA: Can people seriously STOP posting stupid things like "Can we be friends, or Wanna be friends." I know, it's a new, BUT STUPID trend...Honestly annoying!!! Now back to our regularly scheduled _BaderBuilt video.
Wow, on second viewing I was shocked how much of a groove was worn into the idlers. Definitely change those out folks!

Hahaha trust me I’ve made that mistake before on a personal car lol
Thanks for your time and your desire to improve our knowledge of understanding how the engine works
I chose to take the oil cooler delete route on my WRX, since Subaru did the same on future models.
Thanks for the video! Nicely done and explanation!

Stepping the game up! Intros... thumbnails heck ya man. Congrats the channel is growing like crazy!!!

Thank you for the support guys! Always trying my best to keep it interesting for you! We will grow with time 😁
What did you use to clean that mad airflow sensor? Also why didn’t you take the radiator with the fans instead of the fans?

Did you bleed your new tensioner to remove possible air lock ?
Damn bro, you channels growing pretty quick!! Almost to 10,000 and it’s only going to take off from their!! Great info btw!! I’ve learned from this!! Thanks.
Thank you bro! Keep growing 😁
Love this channel. Good learning yet amazing fun at the same time...great tutorial. Cheers!🍻

What is that like double your subs in a month? Nice! Keep it up, this channel will be big and I’m glad that I’m here before it grows to be big!
Are they supposed to line back up 100% after a rotation or half a tooth off?
Wow bader your channel is growing so fast keep it up brother!
Thank you man!!
my fave channel so far, great content.
Now, getting to the end of the video, tells me what my suspicions were. The owners must be an older couple, as the Baja is an Automatic, plus the belts were changed but NOT the pulleys/idlers, etc..
Yes sir, super nice older couple and just wanting their baby taken care of 😁
What code is for timing belt usually ? I have a P0016 code on my 2018 WRX
So do your WRX’s have WRX engines in them? Or you swapped them with something else?

It seems to be that I also got cam seals in with my timing kit. How come I don’t see anyone on TH-cam do them when doing the timing?
Mr. Bader is there a timing belt brand/kit that you recommend for turbo EJs?
On a car that age I think its very beneficial to just go ahead and replace the MAF with new OEM part. I know its a cost no one wants but everything ages, and only so many cleanings you can do over time, it's cheap insurance imo.
I'm in the process of swapping out my avcs cam gears since my old motor blew and was recommended to do so in those circumstances. With the cam gears being avcs and having oil flow, are there any recommendations for changing them or just have a rag laying around to catch the oil?
It depends on failure, if it had a bearing failure then yes I recommend replacing them 👍
My dear Bader, EJs are not at tdc when you do a timing belt. It's not like in line 4 or 6
STI Swap, wide body and lift kit on a Baja would be awesome!!!!! 😲
That would be sweet!!!
Is skipping and losing proper timing something that happens often?? Was that car running very poorly with the timing incorrect like that??
It never skipped timing that was while assembling the timing didn’t line up correctly. Fast forward several months later the car has now made 800+whp and went 9.68 @ 141mph in 1/4 mile. Lol
Do you know what would cause a driver side intake cam to skip a tooth on the belt? Everything else was lined up correctly when pulled apart.
Love the videos as always!
Would the timing belt make p0011 com up ?
Hey josh can you do a video on cleaning engine Bays?
Yes sir! I was gonna do that in the other Baja video but ran into other issues.
_BaderBuilt but I want it on the sti because I have a top mount inter cooler and there’s no videos on how to clean one with one
1st. Keep the awesome content coming.
Do you use any particular MAF sensor safe product?
As long as it’s MAF cleaner you are good 👍
What timing kit to use
You should have told the importance of NSK vs China made exc. so their cog gear doesn’t grenade
how often should MAF be cleaned?
I suggest every few oil changes to check it 👍
what do you use to clean the sensor? thanks
MAF cleaner 👍
Damn should’ve showed us how to pull the damn A/C belt
Other than that good video
On 12:01 there is a tool with the bicycle chain near the black pulley what is it called and what's the use of it ?
I use that to hold crank pulley so loosen bolt, it’s called a chain wrench 👍
@@BaderBuiltRacing Thanks for the info its helpfull
Will it set off a P0336 code half tooth off
10k miles are 800+whp and never has
How do u clean the maf
MAF cleaner, it’s a spray just like brake cleaner that you get at the auto parts store.
