Thanks for your comment! When I was practicing only scales, I could not play jazz at all. However, I became able to play a little jazz after I became aware of the following points. 1. Understanding the function of each chord in a song and knowing exactly which scale can be used for which chord. 2. Rhythm (most important) 3. Chord tones (the backbone of the song) 4. Licks (these are the words you use to speak the language) 5. Practice these in all positions and keys. 6. Record yourself playing and listen to it to correct your playing.
