Your smootheness of playing is stellar. Each note has room to breathe and to develop its beauty. I assume you can do this on any guitar ...

The '335 sound' to me, is the sound of someone who loves the notes they play and aren't in a rush to get to the next one. A strat seems to make me play busier for some reason. I''ll never forget that tution video BB King did where he demonstrates playing over a slow blues and you can hear how he makes they guitar breath and sing. 335s have that great simple , warm, soulful tone. I don't have one and I need one one in my life! This was an oustanding demonstration of the magic of the 335.

When I think 335 I think Clapton. I love mine and use it cranked with an AC30 and just can not imagine not playing it through a cranked amp. Clapton's tone on Crossroads and his tone on From The Cradle with his 335 are the absolute pinnacle of guitar tone to my ears.

It’s called mess around with the knobs on your guitar amp and pedal until you hear something you like. Write it down the repeat. Trust me it feels daunting at first and for some odd reason you just flat out will refuse to do it. That’s how I was. Finally I got over it and started twisting and turning every knob to the point I started twisting people’s nipples until I got the right tone coming out of their speaker.

I have some great guitars, Gibsons, Fenders. Martins .. love Telecasters .. but .. my '81 blonde dot neck always sits out ready to play. Thank god I had the foresight to pick it up used 40 yrs ago. Bonus was whoever traded it did so with an actual 50's case in decent shape. In 84, it was cool but now .. those cases themselves are $$$! Best sounding and playing guitar I have. Now .. if I only could sound as good as Jack .. work in progress!

I went through several humbucker style guitars before finally picking up a 335. When I finally did I immediately knew it was the double humbucker guitar I had been looking for both tonally and comfort wise. I strictly played acoustic for the first 10 years of my guitar playing so being able to rest my entire arm on the guitar is SO much more comfortable and stable for me as opposed to having to support your arm a little more with other guitars like a les Paul. The 335 can get you close enough to tele tones with some twang and close enough to les Paul tones plus the middle has its own vibe. Gosh I love mine (Eastman T486). That and a strat is all I’ll ever need

I always wanted a 335 but never got the chance to find one i could afford so on one of my birthdays my wife gave me a 2016 Gibson Midtown Deluxe which is very close to a 335 & probably the closest i will get to actually having one. It's a fine guitar done in a Root Beer Finish & a set of Burst buckers for pickups. For whatever reason Gibson chose to discontinue it & stick with the Midtown Custom i don't know less it was the price which she did not pay as it's a used guitar, but it sings like a real 335 & the quality is top notch where the Custom is the basic stripped-down model. Kudos to my bandmate for helping her not get ripped off by going with her to the music store. It may not be a real 335 but it's a close as i will most likely get to owning one & it sounds great. Anyone want to hear it i have an Audio post & a nice shot of it i will leave a link & any comment is more than welcomed. Both are great instruments. th-cam.com/video/lJelsuT1UxI/w-d-xo.html

Tones with a view: so much texture on tap in each note; and that versatility. Also why I just got back to play more semi-acoustic for live gigs. I haven't yet had the chance to check out the subtle differences, e.g. ES-335 vs. Epiphone Sheraton, but the latter already made me very happy back when (my first 'legit' 'jazz' guitar). Do you have an opinion (aka experience / application) using a split, or actual single coil on these? E.g. for added detail and clarity, in comparison. I found that this mode works well with my D'Aquisto, mainly for fingerstyle playing, wonder if swapping out the split-coiled humbucker with a dedicated single would still add some

eschew the Gibson 335 because you can get far more guitar for much less money. Instead ,spring for an Eastman T-185 featuring a 15" body of SOLID mahogany with a SOLID maple top, ebony board, 25" scale (you'll notice that .25" difference!) no full center block-has a support block under the bridge only, so it's lighter. Find a dealer and try one. I don't think they come in red, but there's sunburst, natural (blonde) and classic finish. There's also a T-184 (14" body) and a T-186 (16" body like the 335) I've owned three 335's, and they're good guitars that cover all the bases, but the Eastmans are superior. I'll never get rid of mine.

SG is brighter, LP has heft and sustain. 335 is somehow warmer, airier and chimier.

Yes, there are substantial differences in tone and feel between these 3 Gibson models, and also between 3 of the same model sometimes. Amplified electric guitar and recorded audio can be manipulated easily. Do you play or just listen to music? The blindfold test is just silly, really. Are you suggesting that a guitar, is a guitar, is a guitar? Different guitars can inspire new music from the creators. Players know. Bill is correct.

Anyone thinking of buying a 335 style, just bear in mind that they can be pretty awkward to play sitting down. I had to sell mine, although it sounded great and was comfortable when playing with a strap. I’d recommend sitting down with one for a good while just to make sure you’re comfortable with it.

If you are lucky enough to get a good one but they are expensive and you can get better value and often quality and pay a lot less than the asking price for a Gibson 335.

If I was younger and more accomplished player, playing live etc , sure , but to drop over £4000 I would be shot at sunrise lol, I love a brand here in the UK they have a Es 335 type with with well known and respected Wilkinson Hardware , Vintage VSA 500 just under £400 has a Mahogany Body and Rosewood Fretboard sure its not a Gibson but there is many Pro's that play these guitars but I will check my lottery tickets if the numbers due come in lol ,
