If you look for USB-C breakout boards on an auction site I cannot mention because foooook TH-cam, you should find a few with resistors. These could be used to convert devices like this c64 to USB-C charging.

@Ralph Reilly did you really have years of experience before making and posting your comment?
Once upon a time I was also an inexperienced tech, and I repaired issues before finding the cause.

Nice! The more electronic items you fix, the more you'll realise that 90% of all failures are something mechanical unless someone has applied power incorrectly somehow. Broken wires and broken ports/connectors account for an awful lot of failed equipment. Not what you want to hear, but more time doing the initial eyeballing saves a lot of chasing red herrings later. Love your videos. You have come on a ton from the start. Hope the house move went smoothly.

Replaced the port, it's still working perfectly to this day.

A device which has a port that appears to be intentionally destroyed could be a red flag that the device has more serious issues. I had a USB microphone which started intermittently malfunctioning within the 1 year manufacturer's warranty period. The problem had nothing to do with the micro USB port. After I had provided some audio samples which confirmed the intermittent problem, the company agreed to mail me a cheque to reimburse me. However, before they would send the cheque, they requested that I use a screwdriver to destroy the micro USB port of the device and send them a photo as proof. I guess they have this policy to ensure they won't have to reimburse for the same faulty unit more than once.

    Hey!
    Great video.
    Was interesting to watch.
My C64 mini won't detect the USB joysticks in any of the two ports. Is that a general problem with these minis?

Great video. Watching your repair while doing the robot from your background music. What are the tracks?

I'm wondering if I can fit an HDMI audio-splitter inside the casing of the mini. I need to feed audio out separately as my monitor doesn't have speakers. It looks like there probably probably is enough room for a splitter thanks to this video.
I can't use the mini on my main TV as the input lag is awful - weird because my X-Box with the same TV is fine, and the mini is fine with my PC monitor...
