Oh my God, you spoke directly to me. You may have just changed my life. So many years of doctors, tests, and medications (triptans, SSRI’s, topamax, triptylines, botox, trigger point injections, and finally pain meds). I’ve suffered from headaches much of my adult life. They are life altering. I know instinctively my headaches come from my neck and traps area but Rizatriptan (Maxalt) does stop the throbbing thank God. But my neck and shoulders are still sore. So docs think it’s migraines bc the Rizatriptan works and are reluctant to go beyond that. So I suffer thru them as best I can. And now that I am w/o insurance it’s unlikely I will ever find a “cure”. But at least I feel validated my pain refers from my neck area. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You have almost perfectly described what was going on with me. I had suspected that my migraines were coming from my neck for at least 10 years, but I never could get my neurologist to admit it. He had been giving me trigger point injections in my neck for most of that time. They gave me only partial relief, until they stopped working. At that same time I needed PT for a knee issue, and thought maybe if I do exercises with my neck, it might help. It did. Nowadays I have significantly fewer migraines. My neurologist still won't say that most of mine aren't real migraines, because I do still have some that are real migraines, but I'll take any improvement I can get.
I didnt think about it and i never actually had a neck pain but after this video something magical has happend. I tried to put a rolled up towel under my neck, right after i started feeling my migraine comming and the feeling dissapeared in few minutes without progression, wothout taking my medication( Sumatriptan)
Feels like I'm losing the battle. I have pain management team, chiropractor, neurologist, physical therapist and have received many epidurals. Been two years with only 20% relief. Started with really bad right shoulder blade pain and moved up to my right side of neck and right side headaches only. Headaches are so severe they wake me out of my sleep. Feeling like I have a hangover. I don't drink. Now I have both shoulder blades and both side of my neck hurt and intermittent hangover headaches. During one of the epidurals I lost some mobility to my right hand. Can't even sign my name for now. A good night of sleep is 5 hours.
Please stop gluten and dairy. Read peter osborne, no pain no grain and datis kharrazian gluten book. Gluten causes pain everywhere and causes brain issues. Gluten is a neurotoxin and fucks up your brain. Listen to peter osbornes 2 talks on utube. Gluten causes extreme inflammation. Chocolate also causes pain becauses it leaches your body of calcium.
Got all those symptoms on maxalt 10mg at least twice a week getting more as i age, nausau vomitting too. Docs again tommorow. Pain in the neck where it starts to radiate from, then. migraine. Also the weather , pressure changing. Frustrating, painful, not fair.
Thankyou Doc. thankyou for very informative Vedio Can u u make Vedio on VAGUS NERVE (heard Headache from Neck pain may be from VAGUS NERVE problem) thankyou
I was in an accident where a guy ran a red light and hit me in the RF tire. I did not see him coming, then I slid into the front of an suv. Now when I move my neck it sounds like rice crispy cereal in milk. I can feel it as well as hear in. An mri was done on my spine as well with a bulging disc in L4.
I have chronic tension headache in the back of my head for the past 2 months now, an if really bad it feels like my whole head has a lot of pressure, an my ears... I wake up daily with weird neck pain, right at the base of the neck. It's not really bad pain, but as the day progresses, I start to feel it less in the neck, and then I just feel the pressure in the back of the head, slowly covering from back to front, an ears. I have had a constant dull headache, and flare ups of the head pressure for years, usually lasting around 1 week, but this flare up currently has been going 2 months... I have a loss of cervical lordosis, mild kyphosis, and mild bulging on multiple levels... When I mentioned the pressure to my Physiatrist, he told me he doesn't specialize in head problems an to see a neurologist. The Neurologist had prescribed me anti depressants and then said see me again in 5 months. I originally told my physiatrist I think it originates in my neck, but he says there if there is no pain when he presses down on the neck he doesn't know... I've been struggling with this for a while, an the chronic nature of this pressure has made me develop really bad anxiety and panic attacks, which I'm sure just makes everything worse... I am now just starting to try to train my back and my traps lightly, to see if it can help me at all. My question is, if there's not clear Tenderness when I press on the neck, can it still be the neck that's causing this? I only sometimes get tenderness around my left trapezius in particular, an sometimes the upper back, but it's not super common, and mainly I just have this deep kind of dull pain in the neck, and then seems to disappear then present as pressure in the head, and then sometimes reverse, back to the neck and then the pressure recedes. however lately with this particular flare up the pressure has been constant with varying severity
I used to suffer from vertex headaches and neck and shoulder pain when I had iron deficiency anemia and severe gastric issues from being on (an imperfect) vegetarian diet for so long plus I also had an h pylori infection which I think was due to low stomach acid from a long term alkaline based diet. My blood pressure used to be up as well but I knew I wasn't hypertensive. I used to wake up with marks all over my body from my bed sheets or the dress I slept in. Treating the h pylori infection was the first step and I had to do an endoscopy to detect it. Best to do a general check up at the hospital.
@@subhankardas6346 Hi, I did a Triple therapy to treat the H. pylori infection. I will also advice that you try as much as possible to reduce stress and anxiety in your life. Incidentally, I was also diagnosed with a sliding hiatal hernia and later an umbilical hernia was also detected. I have since undergone surgery for the later but not the former. Per the reviews I have read it's best to treat the former through a chiropractor.
I've had debilitating chronic migraines my whole life & they have morphed into cervical migraines the past 20 years. Actual neck pain, soreness, stiffness. MRI shows a slight Chiari Malformation with a compromised disk. I live on Imitrex which is the only thing that works for the pain. It's a debilitating deep throb that starts from the base of the skull, goes up the left side behind the ear, then the temple, behind the eye, over the eyebrow around the back again to the top back of my crown. I get them from poor head placement on pillows that don't support the neck or my head. Also can't lay on my back & if the back of my neck touches a pillow it's instant migraine within minutes. Is there any relief for me? I'm 58 yo & assume it's arthritic along with my other neck issues. One last thing is that after the Imitrex calms the headache down my neck is so very sore even to the touch. It feels like I was hit with a baseball bat & I'm recovering from the initial hit. I don't know what kind of Dr to see because the neurologist that I went to see said that I have migraines & prescribed the medication. I'm at the end of my rope. Is there another Dr for me? Surgery is not an option.
I’m 31 and all my scans came back normal I have the exact symptoms you have Chris I truly believe it’s not starting in the head , it’s seems to start in upper neck . Feels like someone hit me in the back of head upper neck My trap and neck muscles are extremely tight, back of my head seems numb Also cannot lay on my back Tinnitus , bad headache, light sensitivity, dizziness randomly.
I am getting dull headaches in the back right side of my head. Some days are fine, other days it's constant. Also weird tingling sensations in my scalp that come and go. Neck and shoulder stiffness too. I've actually been pretty worried lately that I'm going to have a stroke or brain tumor. Maybe it's neck related, but either way I better make an appointment because I'm not usually much on doctoring but this feels abnormal enough to have me concerned 😕
I suffer from hemoplegic and chronic migraines which has caused me to have mini strokes I hate the ones that start at back of neck I’ve tried various medication but now waiting to try injections at back of neck I do suffer from arthritis of spine I also get aura s in the eyes and zig zag flash in my eyes

I wonder if you could address the TMJ. I get migraines that I think are caused by my neck and TMJ, but my neurologist ignores these possibilities and just keeps trying different medications. I'd much rather know and fix the source(s) than continue with medication alone. So, .I want to know how to treat my TMJ pain and misalignment. Thank you for the information and exercises you provide.
Prostodontist makes the splint to the upper teeth, that makes balance to the jaw, reparing TMJ joint problem, helps to get rid of jaw pain, what can cause big head ache.
Hi Dr Cooper, from your practice have you encountered cervicogenic headache originating from the lower cervical spondylosis eg foramina stenosis rather than facet joint degeneration?
Car accident here 5 y/ago. Never had migraines until then. They started happening while my neck was healing and I had physical therapy from a chiropractor. The migraine feels like a wave of extreme pain starting from the base of my skull which I'm sure is cervical in nature. I've tried a high dose of magnesium, fish oil and I already take a steroid. I don't know what else to do.
@@CB123-x6q Does it also work if I take 750mg of magnesium already? And if I don't my whole body spasms? I also have ehlers danlos or hypermobility, and that can cause a lot of issues in and of itself. Dr Cooper, I have been battling chronic daily headaches for over 5 years. 2 primary care doctors and 4 neurologists later the headaches continue. I’ve tried every migraine treatment on the market with no relief. I finally convinced my current neurologist to focus on my neck as I believe this is the root cause. Prior to every headache starting I find myself stretching my neck because that’s where the inflammation starts. I west through a series of trigger point injections starting at my neck and the along the right side of my head and up to just above my right eyebrow. This results in a temporary relief from headaches but they typically return in 7 to 10 days. I also received a series of Botox injections which provide relief for about 6 weeks. What are they all missing and why isn’t there a procedure that will provide relief for a longer period of time.
Most neurologists I’ve seen want to ignore the neck. I’ve had a fusion 15 years ago c3-c6, and 3 parathyroids removed. I’ve had botox, several migraine meds, nothing works. I have a PFO that needs to be closed and have Platypnea Orthodoxea. How do I get it through to my neurologist to look more at my neck?

I know where my pain is coming from. I have 13 herniated discs in the spine and two vertibrea are fused together, so there is no movement there at all.
