I use wild yarrow. Things I've used it for that it did work on....ear ache,toothache ,sore throat, cold, flue, even covid, blood poisoning, athletes foot, jock itch, cuts, infections, stopping bleeding, bug bites, high fevers, as a preventative mixed into a cup of tea, a spot on my leg that was questionable, I've came to the conclusion if you can get it to the problem, chances are it'll fix it.

Lavender is another plant that grows very easily, even in bad, hard dirt, not needing much water. Even if they appear to die in the winter they don't, they'll spring back to life, in the spring. (They sure do look ugly in the winter though).

No it's not, it may staunch a minor bleed but the rest of its medicinal consituants are very weak and not worth the bother, you can go harvest the good wild yarrow so easy, it's abundant.
But you are using the cultivated yellow flowered yarrow. From what I've learnt it is the wild white one that's has more benifits than the cultivated yellow. I have the yellow in my garden as an ornamental, however I harvest wild white yarrow and have the wild growing in my garden too, it is definitely better. I would only use the yellow for the styptic in a push if that's all I could get. Smell and taste the difference between wild white yarrow and the coloured cultivated forms The cultivated taste sweeter and the leaves don't have such a strong pungent smell. Many of the wild plants produce their constituents to fight for themselves out in the harsher environment producing more beneficial medicine than a cultivator bread for the garden and planted so it had all its needs catered for it, which in turn makes a weak medicine. Hopefully this comment is helpful to people. Wild white or slightly pale pink yarrow is abundant in most areas so I invite people to try the wild and compare, you won't be disappointed. In fact if you pull at a stalk of wild yarrow you'll get a root to transfer to your garden so you can grow it on your land. Its abundant so one little root now ....you'll not need to wild harvest it in the years to come. Stick it some well draining part of your garden, the poor soil part would be great. don't feed it or pamper it, forget about it and you'll have your own yarrow as far better medicine to use than the coloured cultivator. The taste and smell tells you its better. Hope this helps.x

Thanks for the video. Are there different species of yarrow? The yarrow I find here in the PNW USA has much finer leaf branches then what I see in your video. I will check online but just wanted to put that out here for consideration.
I’m wondering about the soil. The ones right in a fence line just a couple of stems are more fine. On a loose soil hill they look fuzzy in leaves area and will be in a clump. Heavy tight fence line dirt was the fine ones and it was half shade.
In your book do you show how to use the herbs. Such as how much dried herb to oil or alchohol? Then how much to take internally? How to make a poultice or tea and how much of the herb is needed to be effective. This is something that is severely lacking in many books I've looked at. It shows what it's good for and then your on your own to figure out the rest. I think this is why people shy away from home remedies because they don't know proper amounts to use to be effective. TIA

That does Not look like yarrow. Yarrow I know of has much more fine leaves than that. That looks a lot like hemlock leaves....are you sure you know that yellow flowered plant is yarrow? I though it had white flowers too.

I watched you in the fall last year (a lot of your vids lol) that now my basement is full of tinctures, dried herbs etc. I've done a notebook on my apothecary so anyone who finds my stash can use it. My sister was a botany major in college. She had told me that, technically the definition of a weed is just a plant that's growing where you don't want it to grow. Folks that intentionally grow fields of dandelions need to 'weed' out the plants that aren't dandelions. Technically, a tree can be a weed. This definitely gave me a new perspective!

Every video you watch will be slightly different. I’ve heard lots of people say the wild version of your only has good medicinal, white and pink flowers but different information with every video or book. Wish you luck in your journeys.
good question! I keep it dried until I need it. Or I make a tincture. For fever, it's best in a tea. For pain you can just take it internally through capsules or a tea. Or you can also make a poultice. For wounds, you just mash it up, or make a poultice, and place it on/in the wound.

I just found this video. You just said it’s easy to grow. Hmmm not really. I’ve been trying to grow from seed. First attempt brought good germination and had just transplanted several plants up a step in pot size. But I accidentally fried it while trying to harden it off. Found out this seedling is heat sensitive. Now on my second attempt to start and have had good germination again. But it’s still just growing so slowly. I started the second attempt outside since the temperature is now warm enough, and wondering if it’s too warm? Since I fried my first attempt. Wish I could find starts to yarrow. I’ll keep trying and not give up.
I’m wondering what I am doing wrong with my yarrow? I planted it in the spring (Arizona), and it never got more than 2 inches tall by August. Does yarrow not like the ‘warmth’ of the Arizona desert? Although then again most stereotypes of Indians are modernisms and false, like the horse riding bow shooting axe wielding Indian - they never knew you could ride horses, had no metals of any form let alone iron, and their archery amounted to children's bows by modern standards. Not sure what you’re trying to get at, but Yarrow has been in North America for quite some time now 😉 Yes, even used by American Indians. It’s native to Europe and Asia, but was brought here when people started exploring America, and is thought to have been here even before then.
Yarrow reminds me of a valuable tip I learned from myself after many years observation. If you want to grow wild medicinal herbs, but are not sure how or where to plant, stop mowing your lawn. Time will take care of the rest, and it won't take long.
This year I noticed that yarrow was on the road side and there was a field full, but after the spring it was gone. It was yellow and not white. I did buy a plant. Because I didn't understand why the yarrow I have is still growing and the one the what in the field and road side are gone. Can you shed some light on this?? I figured next year I'll try and get some before it disappears.
you don't explain what parts of the plant to use or how to use each part -- flowers, leaves, stems. roots, make tea? make a poultice? fry or bake the flowers? the stems?
Do you have any information showing that all the different colors of Yarrow have the same medicinal properties? I was trying to see if I could plant the pink ones recently (it’s just the aesthetic that I’m going for in that particular area), but an herbalist friend of mine said that the studies that have been done have either only been done on the white variety, or that the white Yarrow definitely had stronger medicinal properties. I’m wondering if this is true or if you can point me towards any studies/information about the color varieties?

Great info. Parker's Yarrow is topical use only, It has yellow flowers. Common Yarrow white flowers both internal and eternal!

This is somewhat correct. The white and pink flowers provide the most medicinal benefits. The other colors, not so much.

Yarrow sticks were what was originally used in I Ching divination.

It would depend on if it has been rained on. But generally, I say to stay away from it and collect it fresh instead.

I would just harvest the flowerhead right before they goto seed, or dig up the entire plant with a very large plant bulb and transplant!

Yarrow reminds me of a valuable tip I learned from myself after many years observation. If you want to grow wild medicinal herbs, but are not sure how or where to plant, stop mowing your lawn. Time will take care of the rest, and it won't take long.
Please. If you intend to use yarrow medicinally, only use the white.
I have three Yarrow plants growing in my perennial garden. Had no idea it had/has medicinal benefits.
This year I noticed that yarrow was on the road side and there was a field full, but after the spring it was gone. It was yellow and not white. I did buy a plant. Because I didn't understand why the yarrow I have is still growing and the one the what in the field and road side are gone. Can you shed some light on this?? I figured next year I'll try and get some before it disappears.
Yarrow for pain management would that be in tincture form?

normally by using the crushed herb directly. Best in powdered form.
The leaves are the part typically used to stop bleeding.

you don't explain what parts of the plant to use or how to use each part -- flowers, leaves, stems. roots, make tea? make a poultice? fry or bake the flowers? the stems?

Do you have any information showing that all the different colors of Yarrow have the same medicinal properties? I was trying to see if I could plant the pink ones recently (it’s just the aesthetic that I’m going for in that particular area), but an herbalist friend of mine said that the studies that have been done have either only been done on the white variety, or that the white Yarrow definitely had stronger medicinal properties. I’m wondering if this is true or if you can point me towards any studies/information about the color varieties?
Yes it is true. Try both and compare for yourself, you'll soon realise the difference.
Tuned in for info. that would tell me or show me rather than stuff I could read from the Google searches. Show us how to make tinctures or which parts of the plant is good for what ailment.

Recently I read that we should not take yarrow for more than three days at a time. Have you heard this?
no, but its best to take a rest after 2-4 weeks, then start again.
