@@deniseanitabrown6271 Hello, Denise. The mature leaves and berries are edible, usually by late fall. You could use a coffee grinder for both. What is nice, is that hawthorn trees yield large amounts of berries. Where I live, the local library has 4 or 5 trees, so I just go pick a couple containers full, which will easily last the entire year. I don't even bother grinding the berries. I simply chew them whole.
Thank you Amy. I was just talking to my husband about how we need some good solid resources about herbalism and here you make this video! Thank you again for linking everything for us
Thank you for this. I have purchased random herbal books in the last few years...some good but most so, so basic. I am enrolled in Dr Jones herbal school but it is nice to have books on the shelf

This is fantastic Amy! Thank you!! I just ordered her 5 volumes. If there's more let me know. I've added the other books to my wish list and will add as I can. I wanted to say your book is easy to read, well explained, and overall a beautiful book. I wanted to add a suggestion for you to check out and perhaps once I get the health professional references, it may be not even close to comparison but I have the Indian Herbalogy of North America by Alma Hutchens.

Yes all these are super good recommendations! I’ve been working my way through Medical Herbalism. It’s definitely in my top favorites because it packed with so much knowledge.
Thx so much for sharing these books! I already knew about a couple of them, and will check out some of the other ones you showed us. Here's another herbal book that I believe has accurate and valuable info. Like your own book, it has great instructions for making herbal salves, tinctures, etc., as well as info on how to make essential oils. Keville, Kathi; Green, Mindy. Aromatherapy: a complete guide to the healing art. 1995; 2009. 2nd Ed.
I'm just delving into creating my own apothecary garden. Thanks Amy; all this info was a wonderful primer for me to add to my growing library. You definitely should write a follow up book to your first one. I've ordered a copy and can't wait to get started.
I just received your Herbal Companion book. I have to say it's the best book for my adventure in herbal life.Bravo, well done Amy!!!! I'll be buying more of your books in the future.Thank you

Anything that may help him to strengthen it up? Prayers are more than welcome n believe me I'm praying n I DO BELIEVE IN GOD! HE is the same today as yesterday n tomorrow! Thank you so much for all of this information! We have plans for creating a garden in our backyard and I plan to grow lots of flowers and herbs that are multipurpose. As for your book...First off, congrats! What a feat! But I'd say maybe you can just come out with the same book plus the additional information but label it as 2nd Edition like textbooks do. That way you don't have to write an entirely new book and you can keep all the basic information you provided in this one.
Good information but most of the books you mention would be too technical for me, I'm looking for something easier to use for a beginner. I have purchased 3 books so far, the Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine, the Prepper's Natural Medicine book and Medicinal Herbs by Rosemary Gladstar. Thank you for the information.
How were those for u? I ended up getting an Essential Oils Natural Remedies book n I realized I should take a step backwards n start w basic herbs first before they're processed...
@@brandytaylor2840 I like the Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine the best, there is alot of good information in it on each herb, the parts used and what they are used for. Of the other 2 they are very similar, but I think I have used the Prepper's book more than the other one. I also started out with essential oils but soon figured out that you really need to be careful using them because they are so concentrated and not all of them are safe to ingest, I use those mainly for topical remedies. I hope that helps.
Thank you so much! My book list just grew by several. I'm going to see if we can swing me taking your herbalism course. I've been looking for a Christian-based or at least Christian-friendly course. It sounds like yours is what I want and more.
Glad to hear that Mountain medicine is a good book. I ordered it from Darryl Patton's website on July 8th, and now , almost 4 months later, it is still not here. Hopefully it will get here one day, LOL.

Amy, ( or any follower who knows) I thought your Homesteaders Herbal Companion book was available in spiral bound. Did I make that up? I can't find it anywhere, in that format. Thanks!
Ok I’m on a blood thinner, every time I ask my doctor or drug store what happens if I can’t get it. They tell me as far as they know there’s no problems and it’ll always be there for me. But what do I use if I can’t get the thinner? What food or herbs do I use to keep blood clots from forming?
I appreciate all the insight I’ve seen on many videos this way. The suggestions of the books I’m believing must be based on personal favorites. What I do get concerned about is the not knowing on my end what books are better than others. As I looked up one of the books being offered on the links, I saw many with similar titles, so I’m not sure who I can speak to or discover how to figure this out. Would anybody have any Thoughts on this? Thank you kindly!
Is there a book recommended for therapeutical herbal recipes? I’m gaining herb knowledge but seem lost in what to do with it. I love wildcrafting for edible and medicinal plants. I picked hawthorn berries last weekend. They're great for the cardiovascular system.

The berries tonify the arteries, making them more elastic and youthful. They benefit the heart in a similar way.
