Grandma’s so sweet and your so funny. I had these in Samoa ten years ago and loved them. I’ll have to get some and try this out next time I’m up in Auckland from the coromandel and try the recipe! 😊thanks!
I lived in Samoa as a child and loved fried green bananas. The Fia fias used an umu to bake pretty much everything. I loved pua, taro, pisupo, palusami, and breadfruit. Your parents are about my age. Tofa
So this is how you make : Samoan Green Bananas and the coconut cream thing. Man I tried making it but neck minute fail (bahahahahahah) , this video was so helpful and understandably lol .
What does it mean when I boiled the green bananas without the skin and the water turns brown ? Should the water turn dark brown ? I drained the water and added more water to wash the brown off before eating. I live in the USA. I think they were imported from Costa Rico. We get from different countries here. Please ask your wise Nana for me. Love the video.
I love these videos because they reflect the beauty of living intergenerationally. Awesome.

In the Caribbean they say its the iron in the banana which turns the water brown. Don't know if that's true
Nana is def the boss in that household!
Is it ok to make if the banana has just begun turning yellow? Like 95% green but starting to be brighter in some spots?
I've seen most people boil the bananas with the peel still on? Is there a preferred way?
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Grandpa wasn’t cooking so okay for him not to wash hands. Lol. God bless!!!!
