- In this video we teach you how to make the Samoan dish suafa'i which is a banana, sago and coconut cream dish that can be eaten as dessert or breakfast.
Ingredients we used in our recipe:
Approx 10 large very ripe bananas
1 cup raw sugar (plus 1-2 extra tablespoons depending on how sweet you like it)
1 cup of sago (or 1 and a half depending on how thick you like your suafa'i)
Enough water to cover the bananas
1 400ml can of thick coconut cream
We cooked our suafa'i in a saucepan that had a 5 litre capacity.
Feel free to adjust the recipe to suit the amount you are wanting to make, or to suit the size of saucepan you are using.

Really nice. I was looking for that main ingredient sapo
Good as gold.
You can use white sugar too no problem with that.
Thank you. I really enjoyed watching this
That looks so good I'm making it tomorrow. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you for sharing. Stay blessed 🙏🏾😍
I might make this tomorrow. Kiddos love rice pudding so they’ll probably like this. Burmese use sago a lot as well
Now you mention Burmese. I remember Burma in my Social studies at high school , I might be wrong but still remember Borneo and Sarawak amongst these geographical location. I think Sarawak was famous with their natural coal resources. Anyway beside the point enjoy the suafa’i and good luck. ( Tema)
If you try making this, let us know how it turns out 😊

Choice. Enjoy.
Admin@everyone.
How many portions did this serve?
That pot would have served a family of eight two servings each.
😂😉
If bananas are sweet why add sugar
Everyone is different and if you feel you do not need brown sugar by all means do not add sugar.
I’m trying your recipe today. It might be sacrilegious but have you ever tried blending it all together at the end with a stick blender to make it all smooth and homogeneous? Just curious how that would turn out.
No have never tried that, as we like the texture as it is, but if you try it let us know how it turns out.
@@lifewitha-family8194 we tried it before and after blending. It tasted good both ways. Just preference I guess. We mixed in some sweetened condensed milk before serving and that was delicious.
We made sapasui for dinner and sua fa’i for dessert. Delicious!
