  • Kia Orana Everyone! Thank you for stopping by.
    So a few viewers over time, have asked me if I could make a Banana Poke. It's a Cook Island dish, that's made out of ripe bananas & tapioca powder & coconut cream. I hope it has been explained well & if you like the video, be sure to thumbs up and Subscribe, if you haven't already.
    Take care & Kia Manuia.

    Banana Poke!!! ❤❤❤ How many bananas did you use? 8? I try to find the right balance between bananas and arrowroot. I went backpacking in the Cook Islands in the 90s and I got addicted to their Banana Poke, had it every day. I need to cook this right away.

    • @fayevids7391
      @fayevids7391  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The ratio my mother in-law said, is 1 cup of arrowroot to 2 cups of cooked bananas. But I go by the bananas how much arrowroot I add.
      The firmer, the more arrowroot powder.
      Thanks for sharing your story. I like Cookislands ❤️❤️❤️ Stay blessed

    Hello Queen. I love your Poke recipe. I planned to make Poke on the channel as someone requested for me to make it too. I like your method though of short time to boil the banana instead of the long process. My sister in-law is Cook Island and she makes poke alot to sell and she always sells out quickly. I love Poke so much especially banana poke. It's a must food for me to get when I go to the markets in Auckland. Love seeing you cooking queen and seeing that you enjoyed Fast and Furious movie. I agree with you that it was quite entertaining just like the previous parts. Take care queeen to you and Elvis and family in NZ. Love from Milz and aiga💝🧡💛👑👒

    • @fayevids7391
      @fayevids7391  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Beautiful Milz! How are you?
      Banana poke has been requested so many times.. I recorded my first banana poke attempt last year and I took my time uploading it.. Nek minnit my daughter Geneva deletes the recording (so rude) so I thought, never mind.. because I’ve already shown the pumpkin poke! So I thought, that’s that.. until a couple of ladies asked about banana poke again. I thought noooooo… but my husband says, just get it over and done with cos you get asked a lot and you don’t listen to the viewers (guilt tripping me) 😢 & so that’s why I did it. (Finally) 😅
      But it’s one of the easiest to make Milz. So I’ll be definitely watching out for your version my dear. The more the merrier I say. 😊👍🏼❤❤❤
      When my dad was still with us and I go to Otara market, his request was a bag of donut and banana poke.. My dear dad.. 😢 I wish he was still here. I can make all his favourites now.
      Sending you love my dear Milz! You keep up the awesome work on your channel. ❤❤❤ Stay blessed, alofa atu to your family ❤😊

    Tip if your having trouble.
    Like Faye said the texture depends on the chef 😂
    But if you can't suss it out right.
    When mixing the Pia(Arrowroot starch) into the banana I was taught too mix it by hand, Anyway mix until you see that the runny mixture is starting too thicken.
    When the mixture is thicken use your hand or whatever your mixing it with if the mixture comes off your hand or spoon clean nothing is sticking then you can stop there if you want it like in the video.
    It should feel like thick and like the Starch has dried it out.
    If you lift it up and it falls off without effort then it's 👌.

      @@fayevids7391 Po'e is made of ripe bananas as well. Same ingredients with poke and you can also substitute in papapya, mangoes and pineapple, if ripe bananas are not available. It's yummy and made the same way as the poke.😋😘

      @@fayevids7391Poe is a Hawaiian dish pounded Taro and water too make a pudding. Is that the one your thinking of??
      The Grated Taro pudding is called Tulolo.
      Poke and Po'e same word just no k in the Tahitian word.

      Talofa Kos! I hope my reply finds you well. Some of us Samoans like Banana poke but think it must be hard to make. Elvis and his “where’s my tip” gale ka-Bow! Is his tip at the end of my shoe 😂
      Watching action movies at the movies, is so exciting.. Elvis was getting sore ears from me talking about it 🤭😂😂
      He must think he’s the only fast & furious.. but no, he’s only a pa le faga man 😂
      Take care Kos.. Keep warm and we shall see you on your next vlog. Elvis enjoys watching your videos. He says, that’s my mate 😆 auuu 😂😂 Stay blessed ❤❤❤

    Wow lelei kele oe e fai le raro poke. My brother in-law makes the cabin bread poke that I prefer to the banana. Is it made with the same process that you just used for the banana? I want to try and make it. Thanks Faye

      Hello Roseanne ❤ I made cabin bread Poke last year. Here’s the link
      th-cam.com/video/gIPFbsXATKc/w-d-xo.html
      The cabin bread puffs up., yep those skinny masi’s will trick you and puff up. So use a small amount but add the arrowroot accordingly. 😊
      Take care & please say Talofa to your darling Raymond.. ❤❤❤
