    I think the bed heater insulation should count as another feature, it makes a big difference in time to heat, higher temperature, as well as providing some energy savings.

      If you're talking about a laser attachment, it would be a diode. That will not etch or engrave metal. It might mark it if you put something over the metal first and burn it in. But diodes are not good for metal.

    • @dasworkshop4967
      @dasworkshop4967 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheEdgeofTech No, Look at the words I used: The additional insulation on the heated bed should count as a feature. The original S1 does not have the extra insulation so has a harder time reaching high temperature, and uses more energy to keep it there.

    My first 3D printer was a Thing-O-Matic, which didn't last too long. My second was a Printrbot, which was more reliable. My third was a Creality Ender3v2, which was a vast improvement. I eventually added a direct drive and a BLTouch. I recently got the Ender 3S1 Pro, and it is by far the best printer I have ever had. All the.things you mentioned are what I love about it. It is the most reliable and foolproof printer I've ever used. Mine is connected to Octoprint and has become a workhorse. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but it has been worth it considering how much time I don't have to waste tinkering with it to make it work right.

    I just got the Ender 3 S 1 Pro printer three days ago and loving it! This is my second 3 D printer. My first printer is an Ender 3 V 2 which I bought about 8 month ago but since then modified it with a metal extruder, replace the hot end to a Micro Swiss all metal hot end, changed the springs for the bed, upgraded the Bowden tube, added a light on top, added a Raspberry pi 4 with a Logitech 270 webcam that I also modified to be able to change the focus settings. I just purchased a BL touch for auto leveling ( I need to install it). All in all I have spent much more on the old Ender 3V2 with all the upgrades. In addition the time time I spent installing them were significant. I have a better printer for less in the new Ender 3S 1 Pro. In addition the installation of the Ender 3 S 1 Pro is much easier and quicker than the Ender 3V2.
    I just ordered another raspberry pi 4 and anther Logitech webcam that I need to install when it arrives Net Wednesday.
    I originally thought of attempting to install both printers and both webcam on the same Raspberry pi 4 but I have heard that it could be problematic both on the the same raspberry Pi .
    The raspberry pi are in short supply.
    I am looking forward ti seeing your video when you post it how to unclog the Ender 3 S 1 Pro!
    Thanks for all your great content!

    After having the OG Ender 3 since release in 2018 and fully upgraded it, I wanted a second one for my FDM printing (mostly resin printing nowadays - 4 Elegoo Mars Pro's , 1 Elegoo Mars 3 & 1 Elegoo Saturn 2). I chose the Ender 3 S1 Pro because I don't have the patience & time to upgrade anymore. It has been great since I bought it, only downside I found is the printer profile isn't in Cura yet. But with a bit of tweaking I got it up to the same quality of my fully upgraded Ender 3. Great video and review!

    You forgot the upgraded bed: it goes up to 110°C and is insulated (vs the un-insulated 100°C of the standard S1). I have to say, I did not consider how nice RGB leds could be for a printer, but your ideas for color-coded indications using the lightbar are REALLY cool. I would still like a simple on/off option on the bar, but a button instead of a switch would allow for the light to be managed by the board and still retain the manual control.

    Do anyone know if anyone made a list where all the features of this printer is added to the ender 3 pro or ender 3 v2?
    I am intrested in all the upgrades that provide more build quality, speed, stability, safety and reliability. That is pretty much everything else then the display. I plan to remote to the printer, either by using a laptop, RPi or something else.
    Edit: Almost forgot i have a disassembled laptop laying around, that had its display crushed and was thinking to reuse the parts.

    I don't have an Ender 3S1/Pro but do use several all metal titanium heatbreaks.
    Add an oiler/filament cleaner when printing with PLA to help prevent clogs. Use a high smoke temperature oil. I prefer virgin avocado oil because of the very high smoke temperature it has and add 3-5 drops of oil to the oiler sponge.

I delayed purchasing the regular S1 when I heard about the pro, just that it's not yet available in South Africa, so waiting on that to get the PRO version. One question I have, I'm a bit conflicted between the S1 Pro and CR-10 Smart Pro due to the bigger print volume of the CR-10 Smart Pro, so if possible. I would like to hear your thoughts on how the S1 Pro compares to the CR-10 Smart Pro.

      Awesome! Thank you for subscribing and welcome to the channel! To be fair, I don't have a CR10 S Pro to compare it to, but if it's in your budget and you want the bigger build volume, I would definitely consider it for your list. I can only speak to what I've tested and I really like this one! But, that one is probably pretty solid too as they are very similar printers!

      @@TheEdgeofTech Great stuff! Would also think they are similar. On a second thought I think the S1 Pro is a better choice for me. I'm new to 3D Printing and so might need to learn from others, going with one that is widely used by the community will then help as others would possibly have also encountered what I encounter. I have no specific reason for the bigger volume at this stage, but if that need arises I can just sell the S1 Pro and use the proceeds to fund the CR 10 Smart Pro

    Is that really "Pro" version? Can you adjust PID parameters on that touchscreen? I mean does that interface allows all the same features as "old" 12864 LCD?
    Ok, in 2022 they at last installed full metal heatbreak. But what about printing composites (I mean wearing) - what type of heatbreak it uses?
    that is a question of maintainability. And what about its upgradeability - what about stepper drivers and MCU - is all of them 2208 and what abou LA support? Does MCU have the same controller with 256 flash as in non-pro version? It is essential to enable LA (of course if E driver is not 2208, wich could fail with LA). What features (except Sprite extruder) that really can influence printing characteristics it have relative to more than twice cheaper Ender 3 Pro?
    Get Ender 3 (original or Pro), motherboard with 2209 drivers and any ready-made direct extruder (even Sprite ok) with hardened steel nozzle - and you will get much more "Pro" features that can widen range of materials (especially composites - luminous plastic is also abrasive), increase speed and quality of your prints, for much less than $400.

I have KP3S to Voron 2.4s, and my S1's are slice, print, and forget once I upgraded them to Klipper. They make me enough money to pay for themselves. Jim, great explanation of who should buy this printer, and why it is priced and equipped for them. Creality seems to be all over the place on the Ender 3 series which makes it hard for a first time buyer to decide. This is also getting into the price range of the Ender 5 Plus which offers a much bigger print volume.

    • @TheEdgeofTech
      @TheEdgeofTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably want to put a smaller nozzle like a .2mm nozzle on, but it would be ok for that. But if you want even better results and higher resolution, I would go with Resin printing. You can print several on the same bed, at the same time as one could be printed because it printed the whole plate at once. So in resin if it would take 3 hours to do 1 mini, you could load 15 up in the same plate and it would still be only 3 hours.

      @@KnockoutKingable resin is much more messy and has a little more prep after it's done. But definitely better for miniatures. I will be unboxing the Creality Halot Mage Pro this coming week and it's very promising. The Elgoo Saturn's are nice and have a larger build area too. I would check out the newer one of those. The Mage Pro is an 8k printer and is supposed to be fast too.

    Yet another Creality Ender model!, I wish Creality would do something about their GUI's on their touchscreens, they just don't have enough of the Marlin controls on there with just the bare minimum to run the printer, why don't they write some software to let us easily add new menu items to their GUI? sure I can plug in a laptop and send g-code direct to the printer or plug in a Pi and run Ocoprint, why don't they make the screens Pi compatible?
    And while I am at it why don't they just spend the money they use on designing a dozen machines each year on a range of say four machines with better quality parts and develop those machines a la Prusa style.
    It seems as though once the community has figured out the shortcomings of a particular model that Creality just releases something new instead of fixing the problems of previous models.
    However! this machine on first sight seems to have not been redesigned by the suits in marketing, lets hope that they have fixed the QA department as well which is one of the reasons Naomi Wu parted company with them

      when you say "this" did you mean the S1, or the S1 Pro? my .02... if you already have an S1, just buy the Pro extruder, keep the existing for a spare. Lights? meh, you can solve that lots of ways. Touchscreen? personally that was the least motivating of all the features, the tactileness of the dial is quite nice (I have an Ender 3). PEI bed... worthwhile definitely but you can get some real mileage out of the sheet you have, and decide later if it's starting to wear out or prints are giving you issues. $299 for an S1 is a good bargain! How is it running for you?
