Cheers Ben. Yeah, the one overtake I made was about as messy as it could have been without causing a mass wipeout 🤣 but thankfully I got away with it. Was overdriving way too hard though, trying to catch the guys ahead, and it caught up with me at the end.
You certainly made your one race a good one. Great driving as always. It always amazes me how may places you can climb by simply not making mistakes and avoiding the crashes.
Yeah, it’s crazy. In my earlier days, that’s pretty much all I’d do… I would rarely risk trying to overtake anyone, because I knew the odds were in my favour that others ahead would crash anyway. It’s always a safe strategy to rely on, particularly if you’re only able to try the race once.
Great action, Chris! I think it shows how mature you got (racing wise) when you say you were at risk of calamity if you continued to push and you settled for 6th. 6th is no bad spot at all considering there are other people racing as well and not some dumb AI you can exploit at the same corner every lap. Excellent, glad you gave it a try! To be honest, you’ll probably get more value from them in AMS2 than you would if you bought LMU. There is still not much to do in LMU… only a small number of tracks, no career modes or championships. You will find many more ways to enjoy the car in AMS2. And yes… they are like rockets!
Thank you Walt. Yeah I’ve not been able to get back in the rig since this race, had a rather troublesome ear infection that I’m still trying to shake off. Hoping to be back in the next week or so 🤞 hope all is well with you.
Great race, Chris!!! Getting freebies is a great way to gain position. In fact, that's how I get most of mine when racing. 6th was a great result considering everything. And it's good to see a (mostly) clean race. That bump in front of you early on could be considered a "racing incident", but also could have been avoided. Looks like you're finally getting lobbies with better drivers and have progressed out of the wreckfests of the lower tiers!
Thank you, yes there has been many a race where I’ve climbed up through the pack without having to make a single overtake. Always satisfying when that happens!
Great Drive Chris and really good to see that common sense prevailed in the last few laps. There was no point pushing when you're already struggling, no matter how much faster you were than the car ahead 👍🏻
Really nice to see you moving forward in a race Chris! Good stuff. Most of my racing this year has been like this, no time to practice and going in cold. It certainly is tough to know how much to push without over cooking it!
Exactly. I don’t know how you lads with children find any time at all to race. I find it hard enough without having any! ACC is particularly tough to hop in cold, because of the time needed to test for tyre pressures if nothing else. I had to resort to an educated guess for this one, based on my qualy laps, and I think I went a bit low.
Hi Chris Max Power here. Was a good race mate and I was starting to get a bit worried mid race there with the ground you were making on me. There was a crash on the last lap an I almost got fourth myself but not to be.
Hello mate, great racing with you (well, chasing you, to be more precise!) I was certainly closing in on you, but I was overdriving quite aggressively to do it. Had nothing left by the time I got within a second of you! Look forward to seeing you on track again soon!
Thank you, yeah a lack of practice session meant I wasn’t able to set my tyre pressures quite right. They were a bit low, which cooked the tyres a bit too much!
Great clean race. Smart on you to decide to stop pushing and bring it home in 6th place. I could feel the pain when I saw you defend that P8 for several corners and you weren't allowed back onto the racing line for quite some time
Yeah! Imola is always like that. The guy on lap 1 had the same problem when he rejoined at Villeneuve. Never got the chance to return to the racing line (and ended up in the barrier because of it) 🤣
Yeah! I still remember my race at Nurburgring last month, when I was in P2 and I decided to push on the last lap to try and catch P1. I ended up crashing twice and finishing P5 🤦🏻♂️ I definitely learned a lot from that!
Thank you Joe, I’m a bit gutted I won’t get chance for a second try, because the pace I’d found by the end of the race would probably be decent enough to get a podium challenge in. Hope you’re doing ok mate ❤️
Thank you, yeah loving it mate! I probably wouldn’t have done this race if I’d still been on the old desk setup, as time was so tight. But the rig let me just jump in and race very quickly. Cheers
Cheers, yeah I edited out large parts of that race, because it was just me trying to catch them up. But in doing so, I was overdriving quite a lot… sliding through corners, braking too hard. Think the tyres had enough by the last 5mins!
👏👏👏 Great race Chris, you made the same decision I would have and walked away with a decent finish! I'm recovering from surgery this week and cant physically sit in my rig, so really glad you put out a mid-week race to help tide me over :)
@@chrisrogerssimracing Thanks Chris, its a very dangerous situation, been paid and have a whole week with nothing to do but browse things to buy for the rig 🤣
Great race bud. Take a top 10 however and whenever!! I've finally started racing online myself on Sim Grid, and it's been great. Just couldn't bring myself to do the open lobby thing, as I'm a PS5 guy. I lack pace as I expected, but it's sooooo much better than racing the AI. I'm also proud that after 7 races I have only 2 "crashy" votes and 13 "clean" votes. Can't imagine a reason you'd leave LFM, but I'd love to race ya sometime if you're ever on SimGrid!!
Nice, yeah I might check that out. I try not to limit myself to one platform… LFM is usually just my go-to for convenience, but I’d give Sim Grid a go. I did a couple of early ACC races on there, back in the day!
@@chrisrogerssimracing cool, you're already registered then too. Like I said, I've had very good luck, and I'm pretty sure they've added daily races too. There is a 12 min with no qualy, and a 20 min with 5 min qualy, plus the tracks rotate frequently. Also, there is a voting system for opposing drivers, and they ask to report rammers. I think people are trying their best to race clean, and that's about all I ask! There's a bunch of leagues too, but for us daily racers, it's been great.
Decent result there. I managed to throw away a win earlier in the week by hitting the kerb at Piratella too hard in the Ferrari. Just a couple of things I noticed. Your tyre pressures were a little on the low side. Ideally, they need to be around 27psi. I tend to adjust them according to the track temps. That one where I threw away the win had a ridiculous track temp of 47 degrees, which led to slower lap times, so I lowered the psi by about 7 notches. That seemed to give me an advantage. You could also have carried on pushing by bumping up the traction control? Don't know how good the TC is on the Lambo but that's always my go-to in the Ferrari. Then again, I always drive with a high TC in that anyway and I'm constantly adjusting it during the race for individual corners or sectors. For Imola, a TC of 6 for Tosa but a TC of 9 for the entrance to Acqua Minerali, but then drop to 7 or 8 for the exit and the rest of the lap. Tried a few different cars a couple of days ago as I was getting fed up of the Ferrari's issues with kerbs. The Lambo was still too much of a handful for my liking. Ended up with the Mustang. With the Ferrari, I feel like I'm wringing its neck. Learned that to get the best out of the Mustang, you have to drive like an old granny. Argyle? Now that's dedication. Especially as a travelling fan since Plymouth is pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah, I really paid the price for the lack of practice session when it came to the tyres. Usually I try to get a base tyre pressure sorted before the race, and then adjust based on the in-game temperature. But for this one, the only laps I had were the 4-5 in qualifying… so the best I could go for was an ‘educated guess’ when it came to setting the PSI. I definitely guessed on the low side, which is why the tyres gave up. I’d be keen to try the Mustang, but at the moment, I’m in such good form with the Lambo, I’m reluctant to switch 🤣
Yeah tyre pressures are a constant problem for me when I only hop into these races without a practice session. I’ve only got my 4-5 qualifying laps to use as data, so often I’m limited to an ‘educated guess’ when it comes to PSI!
Yeah, it was a decent standard. I always expect a mass pile-up in T1 at Imola, so the fact all 21 cars got through cleanly… it was a positive sign that racing standards were good.
Yeah definitely. I missed out on getting any practice session in this week, due to a lack of time. So the only data I had for setting PSI was from my 4-5 qualifying laps. It was an educated guess at best, and I guessed too low!
Nice race considering you had no practice. You kept it clean and made good decisions in plenty of time to avoid tragedy. A small bit constructive criticism though is that you are still leaving yourself very tight to the inside approach of a corner after defending it. Once you notice that the driver behind has decided to open their entry to the corner you should also open your entry as much as possible while not squeezing the other driver too hard. 👍
Thanks, yeah defending is still something that doesn’t come naturally to me, so I’m often a bit too slow when it comes to reacting to what the car behind is doing. I’m working on it! 👍
